Meadowbrook Camping Area aims to provide a convenient base for exploring the scenic surroundings of Phippsburg. Located in a region renowned for its picturesque coastline, historic sites, and outdoor recreational opportunities, the campground positions itself as a gateway to the Maine experience. Local users searching within the "camping near me" category will find its address easily accessible, making it a potential option for weekend getaways or longer stays.
Based on available information, it's important for potential visitors to have a comprehensive understanding of what Meadowbrook Camping Area offers. While the campground's website or official descriptions might highlight its amenities and location, feedback from recent guests provides valuable insights into the actual on-site experience. These reviews touch upon several key aspects that campers typically consider when choosing a campground, including the environment, services, and overall quality of the stay.
Several reviewers have mentioned concerns regarding the environment and infrastructure of the campground. One recurring issue is the reported sewage smell near the bathhouse, which could impact the comfort and enjoyment of guests using these facilities. Additionally, the levelness and size of the campsites appear to be inconsistent. Some reviewers noted that many sites are not level, potentially making it challenging to set up RVs and tents properly. The lack of shade on most sites is another factor to consider, especially during warmer months when protection from direct sunlight is desirable.
Water quality is another area where some guests have reported issues. Brown water was mentioned by one reviewer, who expressed gratitude for their personal water filtration system. This suggests that the campground's water supply might not consistently meet the expectations of all visitors. It would be prudent for potential guests to inquire about the current water situation and consider bringing their own water or filtration systems if they have concerns.
Electrical services are a critical component for RV campers, and feedback indicates potential challenges in this area at Meadowbrook Camping Area. One reviewer with a 30 amp service reported experiencing low voltage throughout their stay. The suggested solution of removing their Watchdog EMS and surge protector raises concerns about the stability and reliability of the electrical supply. The observation that several campsites were on the same breaker is unusual and could contribute to voltage fluctuations. The serious incident of a neighboring RV's electrical cord burning up underscores the potential risks associated with the electrical system. These experiences suggest that RVers should be prepared for potential electrical issues and consider bringing appropriate monitoring and protection equipment.
Beyond the infrastructure concerns, the overall aesthetic and maintenance of the campground have also been commented on. One reviewer described the first impression as an "old house and trailers that look to have been here for a decade," suggesting that the facilities might appear dated to some visitors. The condition of the campsites themselves also drew criticism, with one guest describing their assigned lot as "horribly un level" and predominantly dirt, with the grass located far from their RV door, leading to muddy conditions. The refusal of a refund for one night, based on the described conditions, further contributed to this guest's negative experience.
Considering these firsthand accounts, local users browsing the "camping near me" category should approach Meadowbrook Camping Area with realistic expectations. While the location in Phippsburg, Maine, offers access to the region's attractions, the reviews highlight significant concerns regarding the campground's infrastructure, including sewage issues, uneven and unshaded sites, potential water quality problems, and unreliable electrical service. The overall maintenance and aesthetic of the campground also appear to be areas that some visitors found lacking.
It is important to note that these reviews represent individual experiences and may not reflect the current conditions or the experiences of all visitors. However, the consistency of certain complaints, particularly regarding the electrical system and site conditions, warrants careful consideration. Potential campers might want to contact Meadowbrook Camping Area directly to inquire about these specific issues and get an update on any improvements or changes that have been made.
For local users specifically searching for "camping near me" in the Phippsburg area, Meadowbrook Camping Area is geographically relevant. However, the detailed feedback from previous guests suggests that it might be beneficial to weigh the convenience of its location against the reported challenges with its facilities and services. Exploring alternative campgrounds in the vicinity might be advisable to ensure a more comfortable and trouble-free camping experience.
If Meadowbrook Camping Area has addressed the issues raised in these reviews, it could potentially offer a more positive experience for future visitors. However, based solely on the provided information, it is crucial for local campers to be aware of the potential drawbacks before making a reservation. Further research, such as checking for more recent reviews on other platforms or contacting the campground directly for clarification on the reported issues, would be a prudent step in the decision-making process.
In conclusion, while Meadowbrook Camping Area is located within the "camping near me" search radius for local users in Phippsburg, Maine, the available customer reviews highlight several significant areas of concern. These include issues with sewage smells, uneven and unshaded campsites, potential brown water, unreliable low voltage electrical service, and the overall condition of some sites. Potential campers should carefully consider these factors and conduct further research before choosing Meadowbrook Camping Area for their camping needs.

Meadowbrook Camping Area Reviews
I value the reviews left here, so I felt I needed to leave an honest review in hopes it will help someone else.We stayed here for almost 2 weeks. During that time there was a sewage smell near the bathhouse. The sites are not level and most are not shaded or very wide. We also had brown water and were extremely thankful for our multiple water filters. We paid for a 30 amp service, but had low voltage the entirety of our stay. The solution that was proposed, was that we remove our Watchdog EMS and Surge protector. We decided to keep our Watchdog on. They had several campsites on the same breaker, something we have never seen at any campground in our 3 years of travel. On our last day, we didn't even have enough voltage to keep fans running inside our RV. Please be aware that low voltage seems to be an ongoing problem as an RV behind us had an electrical cord burn up while we were there.
Aug 03, 2024 · Joy PeopleWell here ya go, we travel all over this great country and we love staying at family owned camps but this is not the place. First impression is an old house and trailers that look to have been here for a decade. Secondly the lot they gave us was horribly un level so making it a lot of work to get set up. The spot was nearly all dirt, the grass was far away from our door leaving us to step in mud to get in. We Requested a refund for one of the two nights and that was quickly refused. Proof of the condition and temperament of the camp. I strongly suggest NOT making this one of your memorable stops in the beautiful state of Maine.

Apr 10, 2025 · Juli-Ann Marshalldon’t understand why they mow the lawns every single day?? It’s noisy when camping is supposed to be relaxing and sends pollen up into the air everywhere. pool has missing cue ball and sticks are broken. Food is definitely good but that’s honestly probably the only good thing I can say about this place.
Jun 13, 2024 · keiara burgessNot like the pictures. Trashy campground. Unlevel sites. They advertise a Good Sam Campground but don't give you the discount. I asked when I arrived and was told they would write it down and ask the owner about the discount. He was tired and would get back to me. We arrived half hour before check- in and was told we could not check-in. Then they made an exception when I asked them which road they wanted blocked with the 38ft motor home pulling the pick-up. When hooking up the sewer cap was screwed on so tight it was cracked so the previous camper just pulled the whole fitting off and stuck their sewer hose down the pipe. I had to take the fitting to the office and they just stuck a new one over the pipe with no glue. The 30 amp electric service only showed 3 amps. I had to ask again for them to fix it. There was lots of confusion trying to find the breaker box location so they just went from box to box in the campground and finally told me my site wasn't marked anywhere in any box. About an hour later my power was restored. The owner never contacted me about the Good Sam discount or credited my account. The location of the campground was great for area destinations. Area is awesome for Freeport, Bath, Portland.
