Thomas Point Beach & Campground Introduce
For local residents seeking a "camping near me" experience with coastal access in Maine, Thomas Point Beach & Campground, situated at 29 Meadow Rd, Brunswick, ME 04011, USA, offers a unique setting. Located in Brunswick, this campground provides proximity to the coast, potentially offering a blend of traditional camping with the added allure of beach activities and scenic waterfront views. For inquiries and reservations, you can contact them at (207) 725-6009 or their mobile number +1 207-725-6009.
The environment of Thomas Point Beach & Campground is defined by its coastal location. One reviewer mentioned seeing people "digging clam," indicating the campground's proximity to a beach area where such activities are possible. The presence of "water access" suggests opportunities for enjoying the coastline, whether it's for swimming, boating, or simply taking in the views of the ocean or a bay. The reviewer also described accessing the water down a "dirt hill that had mud," which was exacerbated by melting snow, implying that while water access exists, the ease of access might vary depending on weather conditions and the specific path taken. It's possible that there are multiple access points, with varying levels of ease. Brunswick, being located on the coast of Maine, typically offers a landscape characterized by rocky shores, sandy beaches, and tidal areas, contributing to a diverse coastal environment that campers might appreciate.
Information regarding the specific services and amenities offered at Thomas Point Beach & Campground is somewhat limited based on the provided reviews. However, drawing from the nature of campgrounds in general, you can likely expect basic facilities such as designated campsites for tents and/or RVs, restroom facilities (which may range from simple outhouses to more developed restrooms with running water and showers), and possibly picnic tables and fire pits at individual sites or in common areas. The mention of "new owners" in one of the reviews suggests a transition in management, which could potentially impact the services offered compared to previous years. It would be prudent to directly contact the campground to inquire about specific amenities such as water hookups, electrical hookups (for RVs), dump stations, laundry facilities, or recreational amenities like playgrounds or communal gathering areas. The coastal location might also imply services related to beach access, such as parking areas for beachgoers or possibly even equipment rentals, although this is speculative based on the limited information.
The features of Thomas Point Beach & Campground are hinted at in the reviews. The primary feature appears to be its direct or very close proximity to a beach area, offering the unique opportunity to combine camping with coastal activities. The mention of clam digging suggests a specific type of coastal environment, likely a tidal flat. The varying ease of water access, with at least one path described as a muddy dirt hill, indicates that the terrain might be a factor to consider depending on mobility and weather conditions. The change in ownership, as noted by one reviewer, is a significant feature that potential visitors should be aware of, as it has apparently led to changes in the campground's operation and atmosphere. The cancellation of "current events that have been going on here for years" is a notable change that might affect the experience for returning visitors. While the positive review mentions a "really cool place," the negative review paints a concerning picture of the new management's attitude and impact on the campground's appeal, particularly for locals.
Considering the "camping near me" category, Thomas Point Beach & Campground offers a specific type of camping experience – coastal camping. This can be highly attractive to locals in the Brunswick, Maine area who are looking to combine the traditional outdoor experience of camping with the recreational opportunities and scenic beauty of the coast. Beach access for activities like clamming, swimming, or simply enjoying the views adds a unique dimension to a camping trip. However, the recent negative review strongly suggests that the experience might have changed significantly for the worse under new ownership. Locals who may have been patrons in the past should be particularly aware of the reported issues.
Regarding promotional information, the provided data does not contain any details about current promotions or special offers. Given the strong negative feedback regarding the new ownership and their business practices, it's difficult to ascertain whether any efforts are being made to attract new customers or retain existing ones. It would be advisable to inquire directly with the campground about pricing, availability, and any potential discounts, but to do so with the understanding of the recent negative experiences reported by a local user. The cancellation of long-standing events might also mean a change in the overall value proposition of staying at Thomas Point Beach & Campground.
The stark contrast between the two reviews is crucial for local users to consider. The positive review, while brief and mentioning a potentially challenging access point, suggests that the location itself has inherent appeal due to its coastal setting and opportunities for activities like clamming. However, the more recent and strongly worded negative review raises significant concerns about the new ownership's management style, their focus on profit over the local community, and the cancellation of established events. This feedback should not be ignored, especially by local users who might have had prior positive experiences at this campground. The reviewer explicitly advises against giving the new owners business, citing rudeness and a lack of care for locals.
In conclusion, Thomas Point Beach & Campground offers a "camping near me" option in Brunswick, Maine, with the distinct advantage of coastal access. While the location itself might be appealing for beach-related activities, potential visitors, especially locals, should be aware of the significant negative feedback regarding the new ownership. The reported rudeness, profit-driven focus at the expense of the community, and cancellation of long-standing events are serious concerns that could severely impact the camping experience. It is strongly recommended to weigh these recent experiences heavily when considering a stay at Thomas Point Beach & Campground and perhaps seek more current information or alternative camping options in the Brunswick area before making a decision. Contacting the campground directly for the most up-to-date information on services and policies is advisable, but do so with the understanding of the recent negative sentiments expressed by a local patron.

Thomas Point Beach & Campground Reviews
It was a really cool place saw people digging clam. The water access is pretty easy we went down a dirt hill that had mud but it was wet with snow and melt. There may have been an easier access
Mar 19, 2025 · Preston BassThe new owners have absolutely ruined the place . Please don't give this place your business in 2025 or any year after. The owner is just in it for money and the current events that have been going on here for years are now canceled . The new owners are rude and don't care about the locals
Mar 22, 2025 · keith bouchardAttended the Thomas Point Beach Bluegrass festival over Labor Day weekend. Wonderful setting, music and friendships. Truly a favorite of all the festivals I attend! Nice pine grove camping along a tidal inlet. Birds, beach and bluegrass - a perfect ending to summer.
Sep 08, 2024 · Florence BergmannCamp sites need some updating. Had to drag a table and pull a firepit over. No one was available to see if I could change my site, even tho posted hours said otherwise. Beautiful view and kids had fun romping in the marsh/beach area. Grocery store and urgent care within a 5 minute drive. Helpful when camping with kids!
Sep 14, 2024 · Robert BerrettaToilet situation was shocking. Very beautiful location and view from the tent sights was peaceful. However, in the 3 days staying here, the women’s bathroom was locked, only leaving the men’s and two porta potties open for use. Both of which were completely full of feces and unusable. Also no showers, even coin operated. Appreciated a peaceful weekend but wished that we were able to have access to basic needs.
