Based on available online feedback, Mic Mac Cove Family Campground presents a somewhat mixed experience. One reviewer described significant issues with noise levels upon arrival, both from the owner and fellow campers, and noted a higher cost compared to other campgrounds in the vicinity. This reviewer also reported concerns about the cleanliness of the beach area, citing the presence of trash and unsanitary items, as well as a flooded and unclean bathroom. Their experience culminated in an early departure and a negative interaction with the owner regarding a refund.
In contrast, another reviewer highlighted the campground's most significant asset: its direct access to Crawford Pond. This reviewer described Crawford Pond as an excellent location for boating and kayaking, noting the presence of small cliffs and unique islands that are worth exploring. Mic Mac Cove Family Campground is mentioned as the only readily available public access point to this appealing pond. This provides a considerable advantage for campers interested in water-based activities.
Regarding the campground itself, this reviewer found it to be "pretty generic" but mentioned the presence of small fields suitable for various activities. The customer service experience was described as "average," with a perception of the staff potentially being in a negative mood during interactions. Despite this, the reviewer considered it a "decent little camp" primarily due to its access to Crawford Pond.
Crawford Pond is further detailed as a warm pond, suitable for various activities throughout the year, including both regular and ice fishing. The reviewer mentioned catching "pretty good fish" in the pond. A notable feature for adventurous campers is the proximity of "100 acre Island," located not far from the campground. This island offers approximately four different designated spots for primitive camping, presenting an opportunity for a more secluded and unique overnight experience. The reviewer highly recommends visiting Crawford Pond and exploring 100 acre Island for those staying at Mic Mac Cove Family Campground.
Considering the available information, Mic Mac Cove Family Campground's primary draw appears to be its unparalleled access to Crawford Pond and the recreational opportunities it provides. For those specifically seeking a campground that serves as a gateway to boating, kayaking, and fishing on this particular pond, Mic Mac Cove Family Campground holds a unique position. The presence of small fields on the campground also suggests some space for general outdoor activities.
However, potential visitors should be aware of the concerns raised in some reviews regarding noise levels, cleanliness of certain facilities and the beach area, and reported issues with customer service. It would be prudent to consider these aspects alongside the significant benefit of Crawford Pond access when making a booking decision.
For those interested in exploring Crawford Pond and potentially camping on 100 acre Island, Mic Mac Cove Family Campground provides a direct entry point. The option to camp on the island itself offers a more secluded experience for those seeking it. The pond's reputation for warm water and good fishing may also appeal to anglers and those who enjoy swimming and water sports.
It is important for prospective campers to weigh the unique advantage of Crawford Pond access against the potential drawbacks mentioned in the reviews. If your primary focus is exploring the pond and its islands, and you are prepared for potentially less than ideal conditions within the campground itself, Mic Mac Cove Family Campground could serve your needs. However, if a quiet, meticulously clean, and amenity-rich campground is a higher priority, it may be wise to explore other "camping near me" options in the region.
To make an informed decision, it may be beneficial to contact Mic Mac Cove Family Campground directly at the provided phone numbers to inquire about their current conditions, policies regarding noise and cleanliness, and any specific information regarding access to Crawford Pond and camping on 100 acre Island. This direct communication can help clarify expectations and ensure a more suitable camping experience.
In conclusion, Mic Mac Cove Family Campground offers a distinctive camping experience due to its direct access to Crawford Pond, a notable location for boating, kayaking, and fishing, including the possibility of primitive camping on 100 acre Island. While some reviews highlight concerns about noise, cleanliness, and customer service, the unique access to the pond remains a key feature for those interested in exploring this specific natural resource in the Union, Maine area.

Mic Mac Cove Family Campground Reviews
As soon as we arrived the owner was blasting music and so were all of our neighbors. We paid 3x the amount as we did at other sites in the area. They said the beach was very clean but there was a used tampon, leches and washed up trash. The bathroom was flooded and disgusting. Once it got dark it was like a block party on the entire campground and they were shining lights into our tent while we listened to babies cry. We left at midnight and asked the owner for a refund, Cathy was VERY rude and denied and intimidated by getting in my face. DO NOT book here unless you dont plan to sleep or use the bathroom.
Jul 16, 2022 · Autumn PoulinMic Mac Campground is a decent little spot for the area. One of the best things about it is it's access to Crawford Pond. Crawford Pond is a great place to bring a boat or kayaking because there are some small cliffs on it as well as different unique islands to visit. Mic Mac is the only real public access point to this pond. The camp ground itself is pretty generic but they do have some small fields that can be used for different activities. The customer service the few times I have gone has been average. Honestly, the couple times I met with them they seemed like they may have been in a bad mood but maybe it was just my timing of being there. For the most part it is a decent little camp with good access to Crawford Pond. Crawford tends to be a warm pond. You can go ice fishing or regular fishing there. I have caught some pretty good fish in there. There is an island that isn't too far from the camp ground in which you can go camp on as well. There is around 4 different spots to camp on the island. So when you book your stay here at Mic Mac, it is highly recommended to visit Crawford Pond and go to 100 acre Island.
Nov 07, 2019 · Ryan EconomyThis place is the absolute best!! The staff are beyond amazing! And the food from the store is great! There's a lot of activities too. I highly recommend this place!!
Jun 15, 2024 · ELit was an absolute nightmare. The campsites were a disaster. They were cramped, poorly maintained, and littered everywhere. It felt like I was camping in a junkyard rather than a natural retreat. The restrooms were filthy and smelled like garbage. The showers were broken with cold water.Mosquitoes and tics everywhere, rowdy rude campers, dirty. Avoid this dump at all costs.
Jul 11, 2023 · Christine SmithHad another great experience here at this campground. The owner is awesome!! Very friendly and accommodating. We plan on visiting year after year and building lasting relationships and memories with other camping guests. Highly recommend this business. A+++
