Ocean Grove RV Resort - St. Augustine Introduce
Searching for "camping near me" in the St. Augustine Beach, Florida area? Ocean Grove RV Resort, located at 4225 A1A S, St Augustine Beach, FL 32080, USA, might be an option to consider. You can reach them at (904) 471-3414 or their mobile number, +1 904-471-3414. Based on recent customer reviews, the experience at this RV resort appears to have both positive and negative aspects that potential local users should be aware of.
One positive aspect mentioned is the friendliness of the staff during check-in. A reviewer noted that "The staff at check in was very nice," suggesting a welcoming start to the stay. Additionally, the general appearance of the campground was described as "nice," indicating that the overall aesthetic and layout might be appealing.
However, several concerns have been raised by other guests. One reviewer who stayed to use the showers reported a significant inconvenience: "When my husband got up, the men’s bathroom was closed. There was only one men’s bathroom as well, so he didn’t get his shower." This same reviewer also mentioned that another guest indicated the bathroom was "frequently closed due to the plumbing" and that "The bathrooms did not smell nice either." Furthermore, they noted that "The office was not open so we couldn’t ask anyone there," highlighting a potential issue with accessibility to management during certain times.
Another guest, who was on their second annual vacation at Ocean Grove RV Resort due to the location they "truly loved," recounted two troubling incidents that caused them to rethink their decision to return. The first incident involved a hawk's nest located in a tree directly outside their RV. Despite other campers mentioning it the previous year, the management reportedly did not warn them upon arrival. The reviewer stated, "As my husband walked from the front of the rv to the rear he was attacked by the hawk. We hadn't been there 20 minutes." They were moved to a new site after this incident, but only after they were "almost completely set up and had to pack up and relocate." The reviewer felt this could have been avoided with better communication from management upon arrival. They also noted that while management cited the hawk's protected status as a reason for inaction, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation reportedly informed the campground a year prior that the nest could be removed following proper procedures.
The second incident involved a paid vendor power washing an RV next to them. The mist from the power washing reached their area, and when the reviewer's husband asked the vendor to be mindful, the vendor reportedly responded uncooperatively. Subsequently, a maintenance worker approached them, stating that the vendor claimed the husband had threatened him. The reviewer expressed concern that the resort would not ensure their outside vendors respect paying guests, especially given a "substantially increased" rate for their return visit.
Considering these reviews, the environment of Ocean Grove RV Resort is located in St. Augustine Beach, which is generally a desirable coastal area. The "location" was a key reason for a repeat visitor. However, the immediate environment within the resort seems to have issues with wildlife (aggressive nesting hawks) and potentially inconsiderate vendors. The availability and condition of services, specifically the men's bathroom, also appear to be inconsistent based on one review.
Features of the resort, based on these reviews, seem to include RV sites, and presumably bathroom/shower facilities (though their reliability is questioned). The presence of a hawk's nest directly impacting a campsite is a unique, albeit negative, feature highlighted. The resort also utilizes outside vendors for services like RV washing.
There is no promotional information available in these reviews. Potential local users considering Ocean Grove RV Resort for "camping near me" should weigh the positive mention of friendly check-in staff and a seemingly nice overall campground appearance against the reported issues with bathroom closures, unpleasant bathroom odors, lack of immediate office access, and potentially hazardous wildlife situations coupled with perceived mishandling by management and issues with vendor conduct.
For local users specifically looking for "camping near me" with reliable facilities and a proactive management approach to guest safety and comfort, it would be prudent to seek more recent reviews or directly contact Ocean Grove RV Resort to inquire about the status of the reported issues, especially concerning the bathroom facilities and the handling of wildlife on the property. Understanding their current policies regarding vendor conduct would also be beneficial.
In conclusion, Ocean Grove RV Resort in St. Augustine Beach offers a potentially appealing location. However, recent feedback indicates potential shortcomings in facility maintenance (bathrooms), wildlife management, and the oversight of external vendors. Local users searching for "camping near me" should consider these points and perhaps seek additional information before making a booking decision to ensure it aligns with their expectations for a comfortable and hassle-free camping experience.

Ocean Grove RV Resort - St. Augustine Reviews
We stayed in this campground to have a hot shower in the morning because our camper doesn’t have one. When my husband got up, the men’s bathroom was closed. There was only one men’s bathroom as well, so he didn’t get his shower. When we asked another guest about it they said the bathroom was frequently closed due to the plumbing. The office was not open so we couldn’t ask anyone there. The bathrooms did not smell nice either. The staff at check in was very nice. The rest of the campground seemed nice.
Apr 21, 2025 · Barbara SThis is our 2nd year vacationing here. We decided to return because we truly loved the location. However, two incidents have forced us to rethink our decision.1. Last year we were told by other campers that they was a Hawk's nest on site, but we never saw it. This year while we were setting up, our neighbors informed us of a Hawk's nest in the tree directly outside our rv. We had never seen a hawk or it's nest, so we didn't know what to expect. As my husband walked from the front of the rv to the rear he was attacked by the hawk. We hadn't been there 20 minutes. We were never warned by management of Hawks nesting in the tree outside our rv. I'm not sure why they would rent those spots if guests could be potentially harmed, as my husband was. When we contacted the management office, they agreed to put us at a new site. This was after we were almost completely set up and had to pack up and relocate. This could have been avoided if we were notified at arrival. Management kept saying that since the Hawks are a protected bird, there is nothing they could do about the situation. I contacted the Florida fish and wildlife conservation. I was told that the wildlife conservation informed the campground a year ago that the hawk's nest could be removed if they followed the correct procedure.2. On the last day of our stay while we were sitting outside our rv enjoying the weather, a guy came to wash the rv next to us. Once he began using a powerwasher to wash the rv we could feel a misting of water coming from him washing the rv. My husband then asked the guy to please be mindful of us sitting outside while using the powerwasher. The guy told my husband that he can't control mother nature. Not more than 10 minutes later a maintenance worker came over and asked us if there was a problem and informed us that the guy washing the rv told him that my husband threatened him. He also informed us thar the guy was a paid vendor. I would think that if you have outside vendors coming on site to do work that you would want them to respect your payingguests. We could have stayed anywhere, but we chose to stay here even amid the substantially increased rates. We'd think that the vendors would be courteous enough to respect each camper's individual space.
Apr 27, 2025 · Sonya FergusonWe visit the resort multiple times a year with our kids. Nice pool & bar/grille. Trivia on Thursday nights. Clean amenities. Staff is nice & helpful. Our favorite staff member is “Irish Mike”. He’s been here our last several trips & is a highlight each time. Very helpful, courteous & professional. Last summer, we had a slide motor go out that was preventing us from leaving & he helped get us taken care of. This place wouldn’t be the same without him.
Apr 18, 2025 · Nicole AltmanMy wife and I are new to the RV world. This was our first trip in which we stayed at 6 different parks over an 8 week stretch. unfortunately, Ocean Grove was the most disappointing for us. The staff seemed friendly enough.i have to agree with some of the comments that some of the others have made. In general, most of the people there were not very friendly. not mean but certainly not friendly. The park was not the neatest, just seemed like it needs some TLC to make it more groomed and inviting. Did not get to use the pool or hot tub but it seemed nice, stopped into the restaurant to inquire about it and the staff seemed like it was a bother to talk to them for information, hence we never ate there. The dog park was very disappointing. IT seems like it was just shoved in the corner. Nothing but dirt and a bit scurvy. While I don't know for sure, but after 3 days there my 2 dogs both got sick and I feel like they picked it up there, Due to all of this we ended up leaving 3 days early. I doubt I would ever go back here.
Mar 26, 2025 · Chris BurkeDisappointed. Squeezed in here tight. Hard to get a class A or longer 5th wheel through here. Pool and hot tub were out of commission. Wish they had told us that when we booked because we were looking for a hot tub for a sore back. The restaurant didn't have a liquor license so pretty limited. Wish we would have been told that too but we weren't. The people in the park were super nice, no issues there. Office personnel were also nice but expected more as noted. Beautiful sunset though, I will give it that!
