Shamrock Campgrounds Introduce
For local residents and visitors seeking "camping near me" in the historic city of St. Augustine, Florida, Shamrock Campgrounds, located at 3575 US-1, St. Augustine, FL 32086, USA, presents itself as a potentially budget-conscious option. However, it is crucial for prospective campers to consider the mixed and somewhat concerning feedback found in the available customer reviews before making a decision. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the campground based on these limited reviews, highlighting both potential benefits and significant drawbacks.
The environment surrounding Shamrock Campgrounds is influenced by its location on US Highway 1 in St. Augustine. This major thoroughfare provides accessibility to various parts of the city and the surrounding areas, including the historic downtown, beaches, and other attractions. The immediate environment of the campground itself is not extensively described in the reviews, but being on a main road, it might experience some level of traffic noise. The overall ambiance would likely be functional, primarily serving as a base for exploring the attractions that St. Augustine has to offer.
The services and features of Shamrock Campgrounds, based on the customer reviews, appear to be quite basic:
- **Least Expensive in Town (Potentially):** One reviewer mentions that it is the "least expensive in town," which could be a significant draw for budget-conscious travelers or locals looking for an affordable place to park and sleep.
- **Basic Amenities:** The campground offers "small laundry and shower/bathroom facility." This indicates that essential amenities for basic hygiene and laundry needs are available, although they are described as "small," suggesting they might be limited in capacity or features.
- **Parking and Sleeping Focus:** The reviewer explicitly states that the campground is "Just for parking and sleeping to go adventure elsewhere in town," indicating that it primarily serves as a functional base rather than a destination with on-site activities or extensive amenities.
However, the reviews also highlight significant potential drawbacks that local users should carefully consider:
- **Lack of Exciting Amenities:** The campground is described as having "nothing exciting" and explicitly lacking amenities such as "No pool, or shuffle board or playground etc." This suggests that campers should not expect recreational facilities or activities within the campground itself.
- **Serious Management Concerns:** One review raises a very serious allegation regarding the manager, identified as "jim real name james," claiming an attempt to remove them due to a service dog and referencing alleged inappropriate behavior towards a young female tenant. The reviewer also states unsuccessful attempts to contact the owner. These are significant allegations that should give potential visitors pause and warrant careful consideration.
- **Call for Personal Inspection:** Another very brief review advises to "Stop and see this place before even thinking about it," which, in the context of the other reviews, could be interpreted as a suggestion to personally assess the conditions and management before committing to a stay.
Given the stark contrast between the potential affordability and the serious allegations raised in one of the reviews, it is crucial for local users seeking "camping near me" at Shamrock Campgrounds to proceed with extreme caution and due diligence. The lack of exciting amenities might be acceptable for those primarily needing a place to sleep while exploring St. Augustine, but the concerns about management are significant.
As no phone number is provided in the available information, contacting Shamrock Campgrounds directly to address the concerns raised in the reviews or to inquire about their policies and facilities might be challenging through this source alone. Local users might need to search online directories or use mapping services to find contact information.
If contact can be made, potential campers should specifically inquire about:
- **The campground's policies regarding service animals and accessibility.**
- **The condition and capacity of the laundry and shower/bathroom facilities.**
- **The types of campsites available (tent, RV, hookups) and their pricing.**
- **The overall management practices and how guest concerns are addressed.**
- **Any specific rules or regulations for campers.**
- **The level of security and safety measures in place.**
The advice to "Stop and see this place before even thinking about it" is particularly pertinent given the conflicting feedback. A personal visit, if feasible, would allow potential campers to assess the campground's environment, the condition of the facilities, and to potentially interact with the management (though the review raises concerns about this interaction). It would also provide an opportunity to gauge the overall atmosphere and determine if it meets their needs and comfort levels.
In conclusion, Shamrock Campgrounds in St. Augustine, FL, appears to be a budget-friendly option that prioritizes basic parking and sleeping accommodations over extensive amenities. However, the serious allegation regarding the manager's behavior and the advice to inspect the property before considering a stay are significant red flags. Local users seeking "camping near me" who are drawn by the potential affordability should weigh this against the potential negative experiences reported. Thorough research, including attempting to contact the campground directly and potentially visiting the site in person, is strongly recommended before making a decision to stay at Shamrock Campgrounds.

Shamrock Campgrounds Reviews
Please avoid this place, the manager jim real name james. Is currently trying to remove us because of a service dog. He refuses to listen and this only happens after he made some advances on a very young female tenant. I have attempted to co tact the owner multiple times with no avail.Stop and see this place before even thinking about it.

Jul 21, 2024 · Saundra K GrayLove the campground. But I absoulte do not like the manager nor how its ran. The manager is rude and always on campground watching a every move and questioning you about everything. Like seriously? I'm a grown women that works and pays bills not a child.., but You are legit treated like a child. Cannot have any visitors and if the manager doesn't like you you get kicked out. I have stayed here for 1 month. I never really spoke with the manager. Then one day out the blue I get a termination and have to leave. I politely ask the manager about the situation and he stated that I just didn't fit in because I'm not over 50..this place is beyond ridiculous so please take the advice and find somewhere else.
Jun 13, 2017 · Savannah DavisDon’t waste your time or money. Owner and manager don’t care about anything. Facilities don’t even work half the time. Rules only apply to certain people.
Mar 24, 2024 · J BashamI've lived here since last July 2017, prices are a bit high but location is ideal. I'm in a studio apartment. I just received a letter of termination by management Jim Gilliam, there is no reason or why I would get this letter and he will not respond as to why. Others have gotten these letters also and they are also women. I believe that since I've spurned his advances to me he's decided to make my life a living hell by trying to find something else so soon in St Augustine. I don't drive and the sunshine bus is a great support system in this town. I've spoken with these other women, so beware when coming here as a single woman. He is 79 and I'm 59, age doesn't matter to him. The fact that the owner keeps him on must say something about him also.
