Olallie Campground Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the beautiful Blue River area of Oregon? Olallie Campground, located on OR-126 near Eugene, presents a charming option, particularly for those wishing to explore Tamolitch Falls (Blue Pool) and Clear Lake. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground offers a riverside setting with basic yet well-maintained amenities, making it a potential hidden gem for your next outdoor adventure.
Environment: Riverside Beauty Near Popular Attractions
Olallie Campground is described as a "hidden gem" situated in Blue River, Oregon, making it a convenient base for visiting the renowned Tamolitch Falls (Blue Pool) and Clear Lake. One reviewer specifically booked a site here due to its proximity to these natural attractions. The campground's environment is characterized by its location right next to the McKenzie River. One camper who stayed in the lower sites noted the pleasure of sleeping next to the river and appreciated the sound of the flowing water, which helped to mask the noise from the adjacent highway. The presence of "plenty of trees" is also highlighted, making it a suitable spot for hanging a hammock and enjoying the shade. Another visitor experienced the campground under a fresh blanket of snow, describing it as a "peaceful scene," further indicating the natural beauty of the location, even in colder weather.
The environment around Olallie Campground offers a blend of riverside tranquility and accessibility to popular natural landmarks, making it attractive for those wanting to explore the McKenzie River corridor.
Services: Basic and Well-Maintained Amenities
Olallie Campground is described as a "primitive type campground," which means the amenities are more basic compared to fully developed campgrounds. However, the available services are reported to be well-maintained. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring, essential for a comfortable camping experience. Nearby, campers have access to vault toilets (without sinks), a water pump for potable water, and trash bins. A notable positive aspect mentioned by a reviewer is that the toilet paper was regularly replenished, and the toilets were cleaned every morning, indicating a commitment to basic hygiene despite the primitive nature of the facilities.
While there are no mentions of showers or electrical hookups in the provided reviews, the presence of a water pump suggests access to drinking water. The "primitive" designation implies that campers should be prepared for a more self-sufficient camping experience beyond the provided basics.
Features: Riverside Camping and Convenient Location
A key feature of Olallie Campground is its riverside camping, particularly in the lower sites where you can sleep right next to the McKenzie River and enjoy the soothing sounds of the water. The abundance of trees for hanging hammocks adds to the relaxed and natural ambiance of the campground. Its strategic location near Tamolitch Falls (Blue Pool) and Clear Lake makes it an ideal base for exploring these popular scenic destinations in the Blue River area.
Another feature mentioned is the availability of some "First Come, First Served" sites, in addition to those that can be reserved online, offering flexibility for campers. However, for those planning to visit during peak season or weekends, booking in advance (as one reviewer did four months ahead) is likely advisable to secure a preferred spot.
The peaceful atmosphere, even with the nearby highway, and the beauty of the snow-covered landscape in colder months suggest that Olallie Campground has appeal throughout different seasons for those who appreciate a more natural and less developed camping experience.

Olallie Campground Reviews
A hidden gem in Blue River, Oregon! My husband and I wanted to book a campsite near the Tamolitch Falls (Blue Pool) and Clear Lake for a weekend. I stumbled on this campground when looking at a map.I booked site #14 four months ahead, but once we got there, we noticed a few open spots that eventually turned into "First Come, First Served" sites if it hasn't been reserved online. Site #14 is part of the lower sites, which meant that we were sleeping right next to the McKenzie River. We were grateful for the sounds of the river masking the sounds of the adjacent highway. Our campsite was equipped with a PICNIC TABLE and a FIRE RING. The VAULT TOILETS (no sink), WATER PUMP, and TRASH BINS were nearby. I noticed that they replenished the toilet paper and cleaned the toilets every morning. There were also plenty of trees to hang up a hammock!Overall, we loved our stay! We will definitely be back!
Jun 13, 2024 · Samantha Jumamil EstropiaOn my way back to Central Oregon from Springfield, a necessary stop was in order. The campground was covered in a fresh coating of snow & it was a peaceful scene. This is a great location & one that I would stay at in good weather. It is a primitive type campground, so it is to be taken into consideration
Mar 05, 2024 · Thomas Markham (Tommy Tucker)We stayed here mid-week and it was so quiet! The campground was clean and the bathroom was maintained well. The river was next to us at site 8 and 9 and it was beautiful to listen to at all times. I would give it 5 stars, but it was the dustiest place I've stayed. Just walking filled the air with dust.
Aug 05, 2023 · Katie Perez$48 for two nights. reservation done via recreation website. sits at 2k elevation. upper level and lower level. site 10 shares inital driveway with site 9 and then separates. plenty of room for a tent. picnic table and fire pit provided. vault toilets. no water. there are a couple pull thru sites on upper level. day use spot. campground host onsite. $7 for a bundle of wood or four bundles for $25. noise of Olallie River drowns out road traffic and is soothing. Lower level is on McKenzie River and Olallie River flows into it. Plenty of tree cover at all the sites.
May 23, 2021 · Alita HawksworthA very peaceful campground. The lower level is the best as it is closest to the river and farthest from the road. There is only one water pump in the campground, so bring a large jug to store your water. At night, the road is hardly busy and doesn’t cause that much of a disturbance. Most sites seemed pretty spacious. My site had room for four tents, two of which were fairly large. I enjoyed my stay here and would definitely go again.
