Orleans Trail Group Camp Introduce
If you're searching for "camping near me" in the Stockton, Missouri area, Orleans Trail Group Camp, located on an Unnamed Road in Stockton, MO 65785, USA, is a campground that caters particularly to groups. You can contact them by phone at (417) 276-3113 or their mobile number +1 417-276-3113 for inquiries or reservations. Based on the available customer reviews, there are both positive aspects regarding the suitability for group camping and some significant concerns raised about accessibility and customer service that potential visitors should consider.
The environment of Orleans Trail Group Camp is described by one reviewer as "shady and a nice private place to camp." This suggests a setting with trees providing shade, which can be particularly pleasant during warmer months, and a sense of seclusion. The terrain is noted as "fairly flat," which could make setting up camp easier. The campsites are mostly situated together in one area, with a few spaced out around a loop, which seems ideal for keeping a group together while also offering some more secluded options. The campground is located by a shore, presumably of Stockton Lake, although direct swimming access from the campground itself seems limited due to trees planted along the shore for fish cover. However, this design does benefit fishing, as one reviewer's son caught fish along the bank. For swimming, the reviewer mentioned bussing their group to a beach, implying that a designated swimming area is accessible nearby, though not directly at the campsites. The ground is described as having "a lot of rocks and sticks" with "not as many grassy areas as some of the group camp sites," which is something to be aware of when choosing a spot and preparing for ground conditions.
In terms of services and features, one appreciated upgrade mentioned was the presence of "2 flushing bathrooms," which can be a significant convenience, especially for group camping. The primary focus of the campground seems to be accommodating groups, with the layout of campsites clustered together. While one reviewer found it challenging for kids to swim directly at the campground due to the shoreline vegetation, the fishing opportunities were a plus. The need to travel to a separate beach for swimming indicates that while lake access exists, it might not be directly conducive to swimming from all parts of the campground. The second review raises serious concerns regarding accessibility and refund policies. The reviewer, who uses a wheelchair, stated they were told over the phone about a handicap room, but upon arrival, no such room was available. This is a significant issue for individuals with mobility needs. Additionally, this reviewer reported that their friend was not refunded for a second night, even after checking out early, citing a "no refunds at all, no matter what" policy. Following this, the reviewer reported an unexpected additional charge on their card, which they had to dispute. These points raise red flags about the campground's customer service and billing practices.
Key features of Orleans Trail Group Camp appear to be its suitability for group camping with clustered campsites, a shady and private environment, fairly flat terrain, and the availability of flushing toilets. The location on the shore of Stockton Lake offers fishing opportunities, though swimming might require a trip to a separate beach. However, the negative review highlights critical issues regarding the potential misrepresentation of accessible facilities, a strict no-refund policy, and concerns about unexpected charges. These are significant points that prospective campers should be aware of.
For local users searching for "camping near me" near Stockton, MO, Orleans Trail Group Camp might seem appealing for group outings due to its layout and shady environment. The presence of flushing toilets is also a notable convenience. However, the serious allegations in the negative review regarding accessibility and financial practices cannot be ignored. Local users who require accessible facilities should verify their availability before booking. Additionally, the strict no-refund policy mentioned could be a factor for some when making plans.
Regarding promotional information, there is no mention of any discounts or special offers in the provided reviews. To inquire about group rates or any other potential promotions, you would need to contact Orleans Trail Group Camp directly at (417) 276-3113 or +1 417-276-3113.
In summary, Orleans Trail Group Camp near Stockton, MO, offers a shady and private setting that seems well-suited for group camping, with mostly clustered campsites and the convenience of flushing bathrooms. It is located by Stockton Lake, offering fishing, though swimming might require going to a separate beach. However, a concerning review points out potential issues with the misrepresentation of handicap facilities, a strict no-refund policy, and unexpected charges. Local users searching for "camping near me," especially those with accessibility needs, should exercise caution and seek clarification on these matters before making a reservation. For information on group rates or other promotions, please contact the campground directly.

Orleans Trail Group Camp Reviews
We took a group of kids over for a few days. It's shady and a nice private place to camp. Fairly flat terrain and most of the campsites are together in one area with a few spaced out around the loop. For our group, it was hard to allow kids to swim at the campground due to the trees planted along the shore for fish cover. They do serve their purpose though because my son caught some fish along the bank. We bussed our kids to the beach to swim. There are a lot of rocks and sticks, not as many grassy areas as some of the group camp sites. Still, it worked for what we needed. The 2 flushing bathrooms were an appreciated upgrade.
Jun 11, 2023 · Melissa MesserDo not stay here!!!! I called was told they had a handicap room, when I got there no handicap rooms. I am in wheelchair, needed it. Then my friend checked out a 9:30 am hour and half before check out they would not refund his money for second night which he ended up not needing to stay ( no refunds at all, no matter what) and now a week later I have a charge for another $100 on my card I am having to fight about! Don't stay they will take you for everything they can!!!
Nov 12, 2023 · Roy CollinsWe set our expectations low as it was a new to use campground. We where VERY pleased with the facility. The only less than great thing was it needed mowed pretty bad.
May 03, 2024 · Bill AndersThought we were getting a 2 room with 2 queens in each room (so they told us) air conditioner kept freezing up on us, badly outdated (as expected but...not this bad), outside doors wouldnt latch well 😳 coffee pot didnt work, bottom of stove drawer kept falling off when we shut the outside door, there was "no" cleaners of any kind (as we were expected to clean dishes, floors, trash etc..) all before leaving! Oven hardly worked decks need rspaired, we so wanted a fire put, but wasn't allowed 😔 absolutely would "never" stay in their cabins ever again! On the great side!... The lake is amazing!!! i would go to stockton lake again, but would stay at another campsight 🏕 ⛺️
