Sawmill Campground Introduce
For local adventurers seeking "camping near me" in the scenic landscapes of Wyoming, the Sawmill Campground, located on an Unnamed Road near Lander, WY 82520, USA, offers a riverside camping experience. While specific details about the campground's amenities and services are limited, insights from recent visitors provide a glimpse into what campers can expect at this location. Situated close to the river, the campground offers a natural setting that may appeal to those looking for a more rustic outdoor experience.
Based on customer reviews, the campsites at Sawmill Campground are noted to be relatively small. One reviewer mentioned fitting two tents on the asphalt portion of their site and a couple of bivvies on the gravel area. This suggests that while the sites can accommodate multiple small tents, they might be more suited for smaller camping setups. Campers with larger tents or groups should consider the space limitations when planning their stay. The presence of both asphalt and gravel areas within at least some campsites offers some flexibility in setting up different types of camping equipment.
In terms of basic facilities, Sawmill Campground provides pit toilets, which are located at the front of the campground. This is a standard amenity for more primitive camping areas. Additionally, each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, offering a convenient space for meal preparation and enjoying the outdoors. These fundamental amenities cater to campers who are comfortable with a more basic level of service and prioritize the natural surroundings.
The proximity of the campground to the river is a significant feature, with one reviewer mentioning being "right along the river." While the sound of the river was noted as being "a little loud," the same reviewer also mentioned sleeping well and not noticing any bugs. This suggests that while the riverside location provides a pleasant natural ambiance, potential campers should be aware of the ambient noise level. The absence of significant bug issues, at least during the time of this review, is a positive aspect for those planning to spend time outdoors.
Interestingly, one visitor recounted receiving a handicap accessible site that was large enough to accommodate their motorhome and car. This indicates that the campground does have at least one larger site that can handle bigger vehicles and is equipped for handicap accessibility. This is a notable feature for RV owners or those with mobility needs who are searching for "camping near me" in the Lander area. However, this review also suggests that the other four sites mentioned are best suited for tents and Class B RVs, reinforcing the idea that the majority of the campsites are geared towards smaller camping setups.
The description of the other four sites as being best for tents and Class B RVs provides further clarity on the campground's capacity and suitability for different types of camping. Class B RVs, also known as camper vans, are smaller and more maneuverable than larger Class A or Class C motorhomes. This information is crucial for potential visitors to determine if their camping equipment will be appropriately accommodated at Sawmill Campground.
Given the limited information available, it's important for local users considering Sawmill Campground for their "camping near me" needs to be aware that this appears to be a more basic campground focused on providing access to the natural environment, particularly the riverside location. The amenities are functional but not extensive, catering to those who are comfortable with a more rustic camping experience. The size of the campsites should be a key consideration for campers with larger tents or RVs (with the exception of the noted handicap accessible site).
The absence of information regarding services such as potable water, trash disposal, fire rings, or hookups (electrical, water, sewer) suggests that these may not be available or are limited. Campers planning to stay at Sawmill Campground should be prepared to be self-sufficient in these areas. It would be advisable to bring their own water, have a plan for waste disposal (pack it in, pack it out), and inquire locally about any fire restrictions or designated fire areas if they intend to have a campfire.
As there is no specific promotional information provided, local users should consider the inherent appeal of riverside camping and the basic amenities offered (picnic tables and pit toilets) as the primary draws of Sawmill Campground. The potential for a peaceful night's sleep despite the river's sound and the apparent lack of significant bug issues are also positive aspects highlighted by a reviewer. The availability of at least one large, handicap accessible site is another notable feature that may attract specific segments of the camping community.
For local users seeking "camping near me" with a focus on a natural setting near the river and who are comfortable with basic amenities and potentially smaller campsites (with the exception of the handicap site), Sawmill Campground could be a viable option. The proximity to Lander also provides access to local services and attractions should campers need supplies or wish to explore the town. However, it is crucial to manage expectations regarding the level of amenities and the size of the campsites based on the available information.
In conclusion, Sawmill Campground offers a riverside camping experience near Lander, Wyoming. It appears to be best suited for tent campers and smaller RVs (Class B), with the exception of one larger, handicap accessible site. Campers can expect picnic tables at each site and pit toilets available at the front of the campground. While the river provides a scenic backdrop, its sound may be noticeable. The limited information suggests a more rustic camping environment where self-sufficiency regarding water and waste disposal is advisable. Local users looking for a no-frills "camping near me" option in a natural setting may find Sawmill Campground appealing, but should consider the campsite sizes and the basic level of amenities when making their plans.

Sawmill Campground Reviews
Sites are pretty small, we fit two tents on the asphalt and a couple bivvies on the gravel space. There are pit toilets at the front of the campground and picnic tables at each site. The river was a little loud but we slept well, didn’t notice any bugs.
Sep 01, 2024 · Ann MaertinsSomehow I got handicap site big enough for my motorhome and car. 4 other sites can best handles tents and class b. Right along the river.
Sep 18, 2023 · Donald SpatzCamped in 38' motorcoach in spot #29. Very nice, bathroom super clean, river was very loud since it was moving swiftly. Hard to get level but managed. Camped 3 nites
Jul 02, 2021 · Joanne PrahlGreat spot to stop with the kids and play, watch the river rush by, or take a rest. BUT there are zero saws and zero mills and for that reason it will be the target of my greatest law suit since my case against The Neverending Story.
