The Higgins Lake Campground Reviews
We came here for our adult son‘s birthday to camp for four nights. It was a great family experience. Even my 83 year old mother enjoyed it 😊 Dakota at check-in was so nice. Very friendly and helpful! We loved our campsites, and this is a very beautiful area❤️ We will definitely come back and we highly recommend 👍🏼
Sep 29, 2024 · ashsheI know there are some really negative reviews, but we had a really nice experience here. Our party had four sites--two with campers, one with a tent, and one cabin. The cabin was quite nice, and my parents loved it. The two camper sites were a bit uneven and one was a bit small, but both were suitable. The tent site was also a bit small. These were our only real complaints. The campground was quiet and family-friendly. The facilities, including restrooms, were clean. The location is great--five minutes from North Higgins Lake State Park, ten minutes from Campbell's Canoe Livery, and 15-20 minutes from a lot of really nice hikes. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Dakota. He was friendly and helpful. We'd definitely camp here again.
Aug 01, 2024 · Joseph DalyWent tent camping for the first time and couldn't pick a better site. Nice shady area, very friendly staff that took great care of the property and the guests. Dakota (the maintenance guy) was notably seen making rounds, checking in on everyone and making sure they got settled in and were having a good time. The area was quiet when I arrived and very lively when I left.I stayed Wednesday night to Saturday morning, and If it wasn't for the rainy weather I would have stayed my entire week.
Jun 23, 2024 · Grace HarrowWe stayed in the Moose Cabin for 2 nights and had a wonderful time! We loved the campground. It was quiet, family friendly and offers a ton of perks like a playground, pizza on site, rock climbing wall, a camp store filled with fun toys for kids and more. This is a very well run campground and only a few minutes drive to North Higgins Lake public beach. Dakota and Maggie were so helpful and always around to answer any questions we had. We will absolutely be back!
Jul 21, 2024 · Molly AnsleyWhile we did have a nice stay, there were some red flags that did arise. When we originally checked in on August 18th around 2:45pm, the woman seemed very unsure of what she was doing but then seemed to treat us like we were the clueless ones which was kinda unsettling since we haven’t even stepped foot into the campground yet. The next day, a different woman working the store didn’t know how to work the register and paying system and we as campers ended up fixing it. Then on our last full day, we checked the hours of the store which were stated to be 8am to 8pm, then when we tried to visit the store at 5:30 is was closed and the hours on the door had been changed. I understand closing early due to it being slow during the week but as a business with paying customers, I feel that the customers should be told by the campgrounds that the store is being closed early. I did use the ring doorbell on the store door to call to figure out what was going on, where I was told that I was correct that the store closed at 8 and that the woman working it earlier had changed the hours. Then I was asked if we needed anything to which I said no, since my group had solved the issue already. Then Dakota, who was amazing, stopped by, corrected our mistake and then helped us solve it (we solved our issue by buying wood which was not allowed, bad on our part.) He was nice and helpful and understood the frustration we had. The campsite was okay… I wouldn’t stay here again due to the store staff (Dakota was great though) and the ton of extra charges for random things.
