Twin Beach Campground Introduce
For local residents in Washington State seeking a coastal camping experience within the 'camping near me' category, Twin Beach Campground, also known as Camp Rad, near Port Angeles offers a charming and private option. Located at 38760 WA-112, Port Angeles, WA 98363, USA, this private campground provides a beautiful spot close to the beach with a welcoming atmosphere. For inquiries or to make reservations, you can contact them at (253) 508-6558 or +1 253-508-6558.
The environment surrounding Twin Beach Campground is a significant draw for those seeking a coastal getaway. Its proximity to the beach allows campers to easily access the shores of the Pacific Ocean, enjoy the sights and sounds of the coastline, and partake in beach-related activities. The sound of the waves is frequently mentioned as excellent, providing a soothing backdrop for a restful night's sleep, especially for those camping in tents. While the campground is located across the road from the beach, the auditory experience of the ocean waves seems to permeate the area, creating a quintessential coastal camping ambiance.
The campground itself is described as having a small number of campsites, which contributes to a more private and intimate camping experience. This is a notable feature for those who prefer a quieter and less crowded setting compared to larger, more public campgrounds. The privacy afforded by the limited number of sites is a definite advantage for those seeking a peaceful retreat in nature. Additionally, the presence of trees within the campground helps to further enhance the sense of privacy and provides shade and a natural setting for the campsites.
One of the standout features of Twin Beach Campground is the wonderful and responsive camp host, Dave. Positive reviews consistently highlight his friendly and helpful demeanor. The availability of firewood, provided by the camp host, adds convenience for campers looking to enjoy campfires, a quintessential part of the camping experience. The attentiveness and helpfulness of the host can significantly enhance the overall enjoyment of a stay, making campers feel welcome and well-cared for.
While the primary attraction is the proximity to the beach, the campground also offers a small trail that leads to a little creek. This provides an additional opportunity for a short nature walk and the chance to explore a different type of natural environment beyond the beach. The presence of a creek can also attract local wildlife and add to the overall biodiversity of the area.
In terms of amenities, each campsite is well-equipped with a fire pit and a table and chairs, providing the essentials for cooking over a fire and comfortable outdoor dining. The presence of a porta potty serves as the restroom facility. While perhaps not as elaborate as permanent restrooms, it fulfills a basic need for campers. It's worth noting that one review mentioned bringing their own toilet paper and hand sanitizer at another nearby campground, suggesting that it's always wise to be prepared with personal hygiene supplies, even if a facility is provided.
Navigating to Twin Beach Campground requires careful attention to directions, as one visitor noted it can be hard to find. The specific instructions provided include looking for the street number 38770 on Highway 112, entering the gate to the right of the sign, and then taking the first right turn. Following these instructions, especially arriving during the day as recommended, will help local users find the campground without difficulty. The addition of photos by a previous visitor also underscores the potential challenge of locating the entrance and the helpfulness of visual cues.
It's important to note that Twin Beach Campground is a private campground, also known as Camp Rad. This designation often implies a different set of rules and a potentially more personalized camping experience compared to public campgrounds. Private campgrounds can sometimes offer unique features or a specific atmosphere that caters to a particular type of camper.
One potential drawback mentioned in the reviews is the noise from the road and cars for campsites located close to Highway 112, which runs across from the beach. Campers sensitive to traffic noise might want to inquire about the location of their campsite relative to the road when making a reservation, if possible. However, the excellent sound of the ocean waves is often cited as a mitigating factor, providing a natural soundscape that can help to mask the road noise, especially at night.
Promotional aspects of Twin Beach Campground are evident in the positive reviews that highlight its beautiful location near the beach, the wonderful camp host, the privacy of the campsites, and the soothing sound of the ocean. The fact that a visitor explicitly stated, "We'll be back," speaks volumes about their positive experience and serves as a strong recommendation for other local campers looking for a similar coastal retreat. The availability of firewood and the well-set-up fire pits and tables also add to the appeal and convenience of the campground.
For local users searching for 'camping near me' that combines beach access with a more private and welcoming atmosphere, Twin Beach Campground (Camp Rad) presents an excellent option near Port Angeles. The responsive and friendly camp host, the proximity to the ocean, and the well-equipped campsites make it an attractive destination for a weekend getaway or a longer coastal camping trip. Just be sure to follow the directions carefully to find this hidden gem and come prepared to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the Washington coast.

Beautiful spot close to the beach and a wonderful camp host (Dave). We'll be back. We found it hard to find so I'm adding some photos. Pay attention to the street number (38770) on the highway, enter the gate on the right of the sign, and turn on your first right.

Sep 13, 2022 · Neo XploresVery cozy campground. Went there this early November which is probably "off season," so my wife and I had the area to ourselves other than the nice groundskeeper and his pup.Owner was quick to respond to questions. Very quiet area while we were there. Yes, you can hear some passing cars occasionally but it did not bother us, and it is worth it being in walking distance to the beach. The community shelter might have spoiled us for casual camping, it was so nice being able to cuddle up and cook dinner on the wood stove while we listened to the rain and music.Already planning on coming back next year.
Nov 05, 2023 · Andrew WillardBest campground I've been to. Camp host chopped firewood and shared stories around fire pit in central area. Hot dogs, s'mores, 2min river walk to beach for red sunset. Frisbee, bike riding, beach, etc. Great people, fun place🤙
Jun 03, 2022 · Abraham PetersI went looking for a place to camp with good reviews and somehow missed the sign. Google maps go me there and the sign said no camping. The road away from the coast had no camping signs. looked like a bust for me.
