Virginia Beach KOA Holiday Introduce
For local residents seeking a vibrant and amenity-rich camping experience in the Virginia Beach area, the Virginia Beach KOA Holiday, located at 1240 General Booth Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA 23451, USA, with phone numbers (757) 428-1444 and +1 757-428-1444, offers a fantastic option within the "camping near me" category. Based on enthusiastic customer reviews, this KOA Holiday stands out for its extensive recreational facilities, family-friendly atmosphere, supportive management, convenient location near local attractions, and even unique daily air show flybys, promising a memorable getaway for campers of all ages.
One of the most praised aspects of Virginia Beach KOA Holiday is the abundance of areas designed for relaxation and recreation. Reviewers specifically mentioned "lots of areas to hang out, walk around, and for kids to play." This suggests a well-planned layout with ample space for various activities and leisurely strolls within the campground. The emphasis on providing diverse spaces caters to different needs and preferences, ensuring that everyone can find a comfortable spot to enjoy their time.
For families with children, the campground appears to be a paradise of entertainment. The "bouncy mats were in great condition, and they had extra so there was plenty of space for kids." This thoughtful provision ensures that children have ample opportunity to enjoy this popular activity without overcrowding. The playground is also highly regarded, described as "very well designed" and made even more fun by "incorporating a jet into the design," showcasing a creative and engaging play structure that captures children's imaginations.
Beyond the active play areas, Virginia Beach KOA Holiday also provides "plenty of games and seating for groups to gather," and these spaces are noted as "well maintained." This indicates that the campground fosters a sense of community by offering comfortable and attractive areas for socializing and enjoying recreational activities together. Whether it's board games, outdoor sports, or simply relaxing with friends and family, these well-kept communal spaces enhance the overall camping experience.
The management at Virginia Beach KOA Holiday has also received high praise for their supportiveness. One reviewer shared a positive experience where they had an issue with their camper that caused them to extend past their checkout time. The reviewer noted that "The management worked with us and was very supportive," highlighting a level of understanding and flexibility that is greatly appreciated by guests and contributes to a positive overall impression of the campground's service.
The amenities at this KOA are specifically designed to keep children entertained. One reviewer stated that "This KOA had all the amenities to keep the kiddos entertained," reinforcing its reputation as a family-friendly destination. These amenities include the popular "jump pillow" (likely another term for a bouncy mat) and the "cool jet inspired playground," both of which were hits with the kids. Additionally, the presence of "pools and the little lazy river" provides fantastic opportunities for cooling off and relaxing in the water, adding another layer of fun and enjoyment for all ages.
For those interested in other recreational activities, the campground even has "a little pickleball court," although it was noted as "not fenced in" and too windy to use during one reviewer's stay. The inclusion of a pickleball court indicates a commitment to offering a variety of activities for different interests, and hopefully, the wind was an isolated issue. The proximity to other attractions is also a significant advantage. The campground is located "a couple miles off the main VB strip," offering a balance of a quieter camping environment while still being within easy reach of the bustling Virginia Beach boardwalk and its many attractions.
Furthermore, Virginia Beach KOA Holiday is conveniently located "Within driving 🚗 distance of a few National Parks," although the specific National Parks are not mentioned. This proximity offers opportunities for day trips and exploring the natural and historical sites of the region, adding value for campers interested in broader excursions beyond the immediate Virginia Beach area. Adding a unique element to the environment, reviewers noted "Entertaining air show flow bys daily from the nearby airbase," providing an unexpected and exciting spectacle for campers to enjoy. This "always near the action" feel combines natural and recreational activities with the occasional thrill of military aviation.
Access to the Virginia Beach boardwalk is also convenient from the campground. Reviewers mentioned an "Easy drive to the beech boardwalk with paid parking or catch a lift and walk it. It's a short drive." This ease of access allows campers to enjoy the beach, shops, and entertainment of the boardwalk without the hassle of staying directly in the more crowded areas.
As a KOA Holiday campground, it is likely to offer a range of services and goods for sale to enhance the camping experience. These typically include well-maintained restrooms and shower facilities, laundry services, a camp store with camping supplies and souvenirs, and possibly propane refills. KOA campgrounds often have planned activities and events, further contributing to the family-friendly atmosphere mentioned in the reviews. Given the focus on kids' entertainment, organized children's activities are also a strong possibility.
While the provided reviews do not explicitly mention any current promotional offers, KOA campgrounds often have various discounts and special packages available, such as seasonal rates, loyalty programs, and deals for extended stays. Local users are encouraged to contact Virginia Beach KOA Holiday directly at (757) 428-1444 or +1 757-428-1444 or visit the official KOA website to inquire about any current promotions or discounts that might be applicable to their stay. Apr 18, 2025 · Adam VengroffNice facilities, lots of family activities available, friendly staff, everything well maintained. That said, it’s noisy and sites (while good sized) are not very private. Highway noise, noise from the fighter jets flying by all the time, loud music from the pool area all day. Stay away from site 111 unless you want to look at a well lit WiFi tower every night, all while still not being able to connect to the WiFi, go figure. Overall, meh for us, but I guess it depends on how you camp.
Apr 23, 2025 · Matt WeasnerUsually people are happy about upgrades but the lady was super annoyed we wanted one. Didn't even matter though, there was mold in the bathroom and an ungodly amount of ants and cockroaches. I get camping has bugs but we had to buy spray and traps and spray every night. Woke up every morning with ants crawling all over us. Pretty disgusting.
Apr 12, 2025 · Brooke SnellerKOA staff were very helpful with our booking and even mentioned the special offers they were running. We haven't stayed yet, but we did buy the membership and booked our stay.Pool and amenities look great, and we can't wait for our stay.
