Antlers Resort and RV park Introduce
Welcome to Antlers Resort and RV Park, located at 20682 Antlers Rd in Lakehead, California, near the scenic Lake Shasta. For local users searching for 'RV parks near me' that offer a blend of natural beauty and recreational opportunities, Antlers Resort and RV Park presents itself as a destination with both positive and negative aspects highlighted by recent visitors.
Antlers Resort and RV Park boasts a unique environment characterized by a "rustic feeling" and "tons of shade," suggesting a natural and potentially secluded camping experience. The presence of "private sites" indicates that campers can expect a degree of personal space and separation from other guests, enhancing the sense of tranquility and immersion in nature. The location directly on the shores of Lake Shasta is a significant draw, offering easy access to the lake for various water-based activities.
The amenities at Antlers Resort and RV Park include a "nice pool," which would be a welcome feature for families and individuals looking to cool off and relax during their stay. A store with a "large deck and picnic tables" situated right on the lake shore provides convenience for campers to purchase supplies and enjoy meals with scenic views. These features suggest a park that aims to cater to the recreational needs of its guests.
For those interested in exploring Lake Shasta further, Antlers Resort and RV Park offers "large houseboats for rent" and has a "boat ramp," making it an appealing option for boating enthusiasts. The availability of houseboat rentals provides a unique opportunity for extended stays on the lake, while the boat ramp allows guests with their own boats to easily access the water.
One reviewer mentioned the presence of "quite a few party groups" in one section of the campground but praised the staff for accommodating them in a "great spot (close to the pool!!)" where they were not disturbed by noise at night. This suggests that the staff is responsive to guest needs and attempts to manage noise levels within the park to ensure a comfortable stay for everyone.
However, alongside these positive aspects, there are significant concerns raised by other visitors. One reviewer expressed strong dissatisfaction due to a rigid cancellation policy and strict rules. They recounted a situation where, despite canceling a two-night reservation ($160) ten days in advance due to unforeseen circumstances with their rental truck, they were denied a refund, allegedly because of a "45 day cancellation policy." This policy, if strictly enforced, could be problematic for travelers whose plans change unexpectedly.
Furthermore, this reviewer highlighted several strict rules, including a requirement for dog owners to have their pets' vaccination records physically present to be allowed to stay. This level of scrutiny regarding pet documentation could be inconvenient for some travelers. Additionally, they noted that Antlers Resort and RV Park "CHARGE you EXTRA for the electricity you use while you stay there." This is a significant point for potential guests to be aware of, as it can add to the overall cost of their stay and is not a standard practice in all RV parks, where electricity is often included in the site fee.
Another reviewer commented on the current condition of the campground, describing it as "quite dilapidated," which they found concerning given the cost of "$80/night for full hook up." While they acknowledged that this price might be typical for California, the discrepancy between the cost and the condition of the facilities is a valid point of consideration for budget-conscious travelers. The playground was also noted as "pretty old" and more suitable for older children than the reviewer's two and five-year-olds, suggesting that the amenities for younger children may be limited.
Considering the category of 'RV parks near me,' Antlers Resort and RV Park offers a lakeside location with amenities such as a pool, store, houseboat rentals, and a boat ramp. The presence of private, shaded sites adds to its appeal for those seeking a more natural camping experience. However, potential guests should be aware of the reported strict cancellation policy, the requirement for physical pet vaccination records, and the extra charges for electricity. The "dilapidated" condition of the campground, despite the relatively high nightly rate, is also a factor to consider.
There is no explicit promotional information in the provided reviews. However, the recurring visitor who "kind of loved this campground" and looks forward to returning someday provides an implicit endorsement of the overall experience, despite noting the campground's condition and cost. The appeal seems to lie in the location, the rustic feel, the private sites, and the access to Lake Shasta.
In conclusion, Antlers Resort and RV Park near Lake Shasta offers a unique camping experience with its lakeside location, rustic charm, and amenities like a pool and marina facilities. It caters to those looking for both RV camping and access to water-based recreation. However, potential guests should carefully consider the reported strict policies, including the cancellation policy and pet documentation requirements, as well as the additional charges for electricity. The noted "dilapidated" condition of the campground relative to the cost is also a factor to weigh when making a booking decision. For local users searching for 'RV parks near me' in the Lake Shasta area, Antlers Resort and RV Park presents a mixed bag of appealing natural features and recreational opportunities alongside potentially restrictive policies and concerns about the upkeep of the facilities.

Antlers Resort and RV park Reviews
I never write negative reviews but I just had to. We found out the truck we rented months ago to pull our Airatream on our trip to Lake Shasta and Oregon was loaned to Cal Fire. We had to cancel a 2 week trip that we had looked forward to. Every campground has been understanding except for Antler's. We paid $160 for 2 nights and even though we cancelled 10 days before our reservation, they said they would not issue a refund. Supposedly they have a 45 day cancellation policy?? Plus they have rules after rules for example, if your dog's vaccination records WITH YOU, they won't let you stay. Plus they CHARGE you EXTRA for the electricity you use while you stay there.I would never go there and urge you to think twice before booking.
Aug 16, 2024 · Molly NapolitanoWe kind of loved this campground with its rustic feeling, private sites, tons of shade, a nice pool, a store with large deck and picnic tables right on the shores of Lake Shasta! There were quite a few party groups in one section of the campground but the staff placed us in a great spot (close to the pool!!) and we couldn't hear them at all at night. The current condition of the campground is quite dilapidated, which makes the cost of $80/night for full hook up a bit cringeworthy, but I guess that's CA for ya. The playground was pretty old too and probably more fun for older kids less so for our 2 and 5 yos. They also have large houseboats for rent and a boat ramp. Lots to explore here, I look forward to coming back someday!
Aug 07, 2024 · Meike GugelThis place is great! We were in search of a nice RV park and this place has easy access to the water, friendly staff, clean sites and good distance from neighbors. Pretty quiet area and no noise from the highway. Small little park on site for kids to play. Wish it had a bigger convenience store for last minute items. Driving to nearest store not so close. About a 10-15 minute drive back to town for market items. All spots were clean and well kept. Safe for kids to ride their bikes.
Apr 07, 2024 · Veronica BarajasThe R.V park was pretty dirty. Dog poop all over. The site is absolutely slammed tight. Smallest spots I've ever seen. Almost hard to even get the camper in. The picnic table is pretty much on your neighbors sewer drain. The pool was great and clean, and the lake with the store was very helpful.
Jun 21, 2024 · Josh ReedThis place is run down. The bathrooms are ancient! The patio boat we rented wasn’t cleaned n the key starter didn’t work, plus it broke down in the middle of the lake. It took a long time for a tow. The sites are just blown. Our site had food on table n ground. We will not be back!
