Big Spruce RV Park Introduce
For local users searching for “RV parks near me” on platforms offering various accommodation options for recreational vehicles, Big Spruce RV Park, located at 4850 Netarts Hwy W, Tillamook, OR 97141, USA, presents a distinctive offering that goes beyond traditional RV camping. Based on the publicly available customer reviews, Big Spruce RV Park not only provides a place to park your RV but also seems to be deeply integrated with the local crabbing and boating culture of the Netarts Bay area. This introduction aims to provide a detailed overview of the RV park, highlighting its environment, services, and unique features, particularly those related to crabbing and boating, to assist local users in their decision-making process.
Big Spruce RV Park can be contacted by phone at (503) 374-3956 or via their mobile number +1 503-374-3956. These contact details are essential for local users to inquire about RV site availability, rental rates, specific amenities, and, importantly, information regarding their boat rentals and crabbing services.
The available customer reviews for Big Spruce RV Park are overwhelmingly positive and focus significantly on the crabbing and boating experiences offered. One reviewer had a “wonderful experience” with Chuck, whom they described as a “great boat captain” and “very knowledgeable.” This suggests that Big Spruce RV Park offers guided boat tours or rentals, possibly for crabbing or exploring Netarts Bay. The reviewer also mentioned learning a lot from Chuck and described the experience as “unforgettable,” praising the entire “Big Spruce team” as “fantastic” and expressing a definite intention to return.
Another, more detailed review, highlights the exceptional crabbing-related services provided, particularly by an individual named Zach. This reviewer, experienced in crabbing along the Oregon coast, found Big Spruce to be a superior alternative to their usual spot in Netarts. They specifically praised Zach for going above and beyond by providing ample bait without extra charges (unlike competitors), informing them about tides, danger zones, favorite crabbing spots, and safety knowledge before they set out. This indicates a strong emphasis on customer service and ensuring a successful and safe crabbing experience.
The reviewer further emphasized that “Big Spruce isn't a fancy crabbing company that overcharges you for add-ons. It's just a great place to rent a boat and crab.” This suggests an honest and value-oriented approach to their services. A unique feature mentioned is that they also cook the crabs for you, adding significant convenience for those who are primarily there for crabbing. For the adventurous, Zach even offers to show how to find and eat the crab heart, which the reviewer tried once, adding a memorable and perhaps slightly unusual element to the experience.
The pricing at Big Spruce is noted as “much better than the competition,” making it an economically attractive option. However, the reviewer emphasizes that “the experience is what keeps us coming back,” highlighting the quality of service and the overall positive interaction with the staff, particularly Zach. The provision of life jackets for all customers and loaner gloves for those who forget theirs further underscores the park’s commitment to customer safety and convenience. The reviewer concludes by describing Big Spruce as “truly a wonderful business who treats their customers like family” and expresses their intention to return repeatedly due to the exceptional service provided by Zach.
Based on these reviews, the environment of Big Spruce RV Park is likely closely tied to the natural beauty and recreational opportunities of the Netarts Bay area. Being located on Netarts Hwy W, it would offer access to the bay for boating and crabbing, as well as proximity to the coastal scenery and other attractions of Tillamook County. The positive mentions of the team and the family-like treatment suggest a welcoming and community-oriented atmosphere within the park itself.
The services and features of Big Spruce RV Park appear to extend beyond typical RV amenities to include:
- RV sites with the necessary hookups for water, electricity, and sewer, although specific details about the sites themselves (size, layout, etc.) are not provided in the reviews.
- Boat rentals for crabbing and potentially other activities on Netarts Bay.
- Knowledgeable and helpful staff, particularly Chuck (boat captain) and Zach (crabbing expert), who provide guidance on boating, crabbing locations, safety, and local conditions.
- Provision of bait for crabbing, with a generous approach to quantity.
- Crab cooking services, offering a convenient way to enjoy the catch of the day.
- Safety equipment such as life jackets provided for boat renters.
- Loaner gloves available for those crabbing.
- A pricing structure that is competitive and offers good value compared to other local options.
- A welcoming and customer-focused approach, where guests are treated like family.
While the reviews heavily emphasize the crabbing and boating aspects, it is reasonable to assume that Big Spruce RV Park also provides standard RV park amenities such as restrooms, showers, and possibly laundry facilities, although these are not explicitly mentioned. The focus of the available feedback is clearly on the unique experiences offered.
For local users searching for “RV parks near me” who are interested in crabbing and boating in the Netarts Bay area, Big Spruce RV Park presents a compelling option. Its integration with these activities, combined with exceptional customer service and competitive pricing, makes it stand out from traditional RV parks. The positive testimonials highlight the knowledgeable staff and the enjoyable and successful experiences facilitated by the park.

Big Spruce RV Park Reviews
Wonderful experience!! Chuck was a great boat captain! He was very knowledgeable and I learned a lot. An experience I’ll never forget. The entire Big Spruce team was fantastic!! I will return
Mar 29, 2022 · Jessica UrwinOk so we've done our fair share of crabbing along the Oregon coast and have our usual places we like to rent boats and rings from. However, our usual place in Netarts was NOT accommodating our last trip over. Thanks to my husband, we were able to find Zach at Big Spruce who jumped in and saved the day. He hooked us up with enough bait to last us more than our 3hr rental (something the others do for an extra fee). He made sure we were aware of the tides, danger zones, favorite honey hole spots and safety knowledge before putting us in. Big Spruce isn't a fancy crabbing company that overcharges you for add-ons. It's just a great place to rent a boat and crab. They also cook them for you and if you're up for it, he'll even show you how to find the crab heart to eat... Yes I did it ONCE! Their pricing is much better than the competition, but the experience is what keeps us coming back. He provides all customers with life jackets and has loner gloves if you accidentally forgot yours. This is truly a wonderful business who treats their customers like family. We'll be back again and again thanks to Zach!
Aug 22, 2018 · Jen WahlstromOwners/staff, Zach and his wife very friendly. Location is great with just a couple minutes walk to a great beach. Campsite accommodates big rig pull throughs at the front, a lot like a parking lot though. Showers, washrooms, laundry (2 each) are good. There's even a place to clean and cook up your crab catch. Also rents boats.
Jul 15, 2019 · Sue CraystonAn Unforgettable Adventure at The Big Spruce - Crabbing Bliss! If you're searching for the ultimate coastal adventure and exceptional service, look no further than The Big Spruce. It is such a great location to Netarts Bay, just right across the street. Andy and Rusty are always so nice and take good care of us. We refuse to go anywhere else and have been recurring customers over the last several years! They are always making sure we have plenty of bait, traps, and fuel. They make the process so easy for us and it makes the experience that much more enjoyable! They put the boat in the water for us, give us a refresher on how to drive the boat, and send us off. They’ve brought extra fuel and bait to us on long days and even offered to bring extra licenses for non-licensed people in our group, if we caught enough crab. They are always on time at the dock to pick us up and get the boat out of the water. It’s always so nice to come back to a nice warm and clean bathroom after being out crabbing all day on the water. And they always have our crab cooking or in line to be cooked before we are even able to meet them back at the RV park. It’s always fun to chat with Andy while the crab cook and while we clean. And Rusty is always busy cleaning and even offers to help us clean our personal gear when he has some downtime. They are so generous and truly make our experiences perfect and unforgettable. We are so happy we found them!Megan and Richie
Sep 10, 2023 · MeganAwesome full service crabbing experience.I have rented from them for years, but it has been about 3 years since my last trip. I was a little shocked to see how much the 3hr price went up, but afterwards I can say it is worth it. They do EVERYTHING for you. It was as easy as get in the boat, go catch a ton of crab, then wait at a nice picnic table for them to deliver your cooked and cleaned catch on a nice tray with napkins and hot sauce. Then they bag and ice up the rest. Totally full service experience. Nice guys, fun to talk to as well. They wouldn't even let me clean up the huge mess we made in the boat or on the picnic tables! Worth it for sure.
