Port of Tillamook Bay RV Park Introduce

Are you searching for "RV parks near me" in the Tillamook, Oregon area and prioritizing affordability and a no-frills camping experience? Look no further than the Port of Tillamook Bay RV Park, located at 5005 U.S. 101 S. This unassuming yet convenient park offers a budget-friendly option for those looking to explore the Tillamook Coast without breaking the bank.

Based on feedback from fellow travelers, the Port of Tillamook Bay RV Park is described as a "hidden overnight gem" and a "very nice little park" ideal for weekend explorations of the Tillamook region. It caters to those who appreciate the basics and aren't necessarily seeking resort-style amenities. If stretching your travel dollars is a priority, this campground might be just what you're looking for.

One of the most attractive features of this RV park is its incredibly affordable nightly rate of just $15. For this minimal cost, you secure a designated, generously sized, and generally level gravel site. Unlike some crowded campgrounds, reviewers highlight the ample space between individual sites, providing a sense of privacy and room to spread out. While the park operates without full hookups at each site, it does provide access to two water spigots for filling your RV tanks. Clean bathrooms with flush toilets are also available for guest convenience.

It's important to note that the Port of Tillamook Bay RV Park does not offer a dump station for black and gray water. However, a dumpster is provided for the disposal of general trash, ensuring you can maintain a clean campsite. The park comprises approximately 30 RV sites, along with a separate area specifically designated for tent camping, catering to a variety of camping preferences.

The location of the RV park offers a unique experience, as it is situated right beside a small, "sleepy little airport." While you might observe a few small aircraft taking off and landing, the noise level seems to be generally unobtrusive. Additionally, while the park is conveniently located just off U.S. Highway 101 (approximately 2/10 of a mile away), it is not directly visible from the highway, offering a degree of peace and quiet. However, some distant highway noise may be audible.

For RVers relying on solar power, the Port of Tillamook Bay RV Park could be considered "heaven." The reviewers note that most campsites offer maximum sun exposure with very little shade. This is a significant advantage for those looking to maximize their solar energy collection.

A camp host is present on-site, providing a point of contact for any questions or assistance you may need during your stay. The check-in process is straightforward and operates on a cash-only basis. Upon arrival, you are invited to select an available site that suits your needs. You then proceed to the RV Office building located near the airport gate, where you will find envelopes to place your exact cash payment. Please note that checks are not accepted.

While the park offers a budget-friendly and basic camping experience, one reviewer did mention that the bathrooms are located somewhat "out of the way" and that the park can be a little tricky to find initially. It's specifically advised not to navigate towards the Air Museum when searching for the park, as this might lead you astray.

Adding a local flavor to your stay, it's worth noting that Tillamook Creamery, a major attraction in the area, processes a staggering 1.6 million gallons of milk daily from local farmers. Depending on the wind direction, you might catch a "whiff" of this dairy production, a unique sensory experience of the Tillamook area.

Before departing, guests are highly encouraged to visit the Tillamook Air Museum, located nearby. This impressive museum houses a remarkable collection of aircraft and offers a fascinating glimpse into aviation history.

In conclusion, the Port of Tillamook Bay RV Park provides a no-frills, budget-conscious option for exploring the Tillamook area and the Oregon coast. Its large, level sites, water access, and clean basic facilities make it a practical choice for travelers prioritizing affordability and space. While it lacks full hookups and the bathrooms are somewhat remote, its low nightly rate and convenient location near Highway 101 and local attractions like the Tillamook Air Museum make it a worthwhile consideration for those seeking a simple and economical "RV park near me" in Tillamook. Just be sure to bring exact cash for payment and be prepared for a potentially sunny campsite!
