Crystal Springs RV Resort, located at 15649 SW 35th Ave, Ellendale, MN 56026, USA, is a prominent destination within the "RV Parks Near Me" category, catering to both transient travelers and those seeking seasonal or weekend camping experiences. This introduction aims to provide a comprehensive and objective overview of Crystal Springs RV Resort, detailing its environment, services, features, and key insights derived from available customer reviews.
Ellendale, Minnesota, is a small town situated in Steele County, offering a tranquil rural setting often sought after by those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. The environment surrounding Crystal Springs RV Resort is characterized by:
- Scenic Beauty: A customer review explicitly states, "It is very scenic with lots of trees and the lake." This highlights the natural beauty surrounding the resort, which is a major draw for RV campers. The presence of a lake offers potential for water-based activities like fishing, boating, or simply enjoying waterside views.
- Rural Tranquility: Being in Ellendale, the resort benefits from a quieter, more peaceful atmosphere typical of rural Minnesota, which can be ideal for relaxation and connecting with nature.
- Convenient Accessibility: The review also notes that the campground is "right off the freeway, so it is good for people passing through." This excellent accessibility makes it a convenient stop for travelers on longer journeys, while still providing the amenities for longer stays. This strategic location combines ease of access with a serene setting.
- Minnesota Landscape: The general landscape of this part of Minnesota often includes rolling farmlands, small towns, and numerous lakes, contributing to a picturesque and calming environment for outdoor enthusiasts.
The combination of being easily accessible from a major road yet nestled in a scenic, natural environment with a lake makes Crystal Springs RV Resort particularly appealing for a wide range of RV travelers, from those on a quick overnight stop to those planning extended stays.
Crystal Springs RV Resort, as an RV park, offers a range of services and features designed to accommodate various types of RVs and camping preferences. While specific details should always be confirmed by contacting the resort directly at (507) 398-3297 or +1 507-398-3297, common provisions and features highlighted by reviews include:
- RV Sites: The resort provides dedicated sites for RVs, likely including a mix of pull-through and back-in options, and varying levels of hookups (e.g., water, electric, sewer). The mention of "seasonal and weekend spots available" indicates flexibility in stay durations.
- Full Hookups: It is standard for RV resorts of this caliber to offer full hookups, ensuring convenience for guests.
- Bathroom and Shower Facilities: A key amenity, especially for those in smaller RVs or tents (though it's an RV resort, some may have smaller setups), is the quality of communal facilities. The review stating, "The bathroom and shower house is also nice," is a significant positive point, as clean and well-maintained facilities are highly valued by campers.
- Scenic Grounds: The "absolutely lovely grounds" contribute to the overall appeal of the resort, making it a pleasant place to stay. This likely includes well-maintained landscaping, trees, and possibly walking paths or open spaces.
- Lake Access/Views: The presence of a lake provides direct or indirect access to water-based recreation or simply offers aesthetically pleasing views, enhancing the camping experience.
- Rules and Regulations: The detailed negative review highlights the presence of "rules that there should be no parking on the grass." This indicates that the resort has a clear set of rules designed to maintain the pristine nature of its grounds. While strict, such rules often contribute to the "perfect" and "beautiful" appearance praised by the reviewer.
Prospective campers should inquire about specific site types, hookup availability, rates for different durations (daily, weekly, seasonal), and any specific amenities like Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, a store, or recreational facilities (e.g., swimming pool, recreation room, fishing pier). Understanding the detailed park rules, particularly those related to parking and guest policies, is crucial for a smooth stay.
Crystal Springs RV Resort's promotional appeal is inherently tied to its reported beauty, convenience, and range of stay options. Implicitly, it promotes:
- Natural Beauty and Tranquility: The description of it being "very scenic with lots of trees and the lake" and "the most beautiful RV campground I've ever been to" serves as a powerful promotional message, appealing to those seeking a picturesque and peaceful retreat.
- Convenience for Travelers: Its location "right off the freeway" makes it an ideal choice for travelers passing through, offering an easy and accessible stop.
- Flexibility for Stay Lengths: The availability of "seasonal and weekend spots" allows the resort to cater to a diverse clientele, from short-term tourists to long-term campers.
- High Standards of Maintenance: The "lovely grounds" and "nice bathroom and shower house" imply a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and appearance, which is a major draw for RVers.
However, the detailed negative review provides critical insights that prospective visitors, particularly "weekenders," should carefully consider:
- Strict Enforcement of Rules: The incident regarding the daughter's tire on the grass indicates very strict and potentially uncompromising enforcement of park rules by the owner/management. The reviewer described the owner's reaction as "over the top and quite harsh," leading to the daughter feeling "unwelcome and awkward" and leaving. This suggests a potential for a less forgiving approach to minor infractions.
- Perceived "Snooty" Atmosphere for Weekenders: The concluding remark, "I would NOT recommend it for weekenders. We did not feel welcome. This is a snooty campground," is a significant cautionary note. It implies that while the resort may be ideal for longer-term, perhaps more established, seasonal campers who are fully familiar with and adhere to all rules, it might not offer the same welcoming and flexible experience for shorter-term visitors who might inadvertently bend a rule.
- Impact on Guest Experience: The incident highlights how management's interaction, even when enforcing rules, can profoundly impact a guest's overall satisfaction and willingness to return.
For individuals considering Crystal Springs RV Resort within the "RV Parks Near Me" category, especially if planning a shorter stay, it is highly recommended to:
- Familiarize Yourself with All Rules: Request and thoroughly read the park's rules and regulations beforehand. Pay close attention to details like parking, guest policies, and site maintenance.
- Communicate with Management: If there are any ambiguities about rules or specific needs, clarify them with park management (via phone at (507) 398-3297 or +1 507-398-3297) before arrival.
- Consider Your Camping Style: If you prefer a very relaxed environment with more flexibility regarding minor rule adherence, the strict enforcement mentioned in the review might be a significant factor. If you value pristine grounds and are comfortable adhering strictly to rules, it might be a good fit.
In conclusion, Crystal Springs RV Resort in Ellendale, MN, offers a visually stunning and well-maintained campground with convenient freeway access and proximity to a lake, making it an attractive option for RV enthusiasts. Its amenities, including nice bathroom facilities and the availability of seasonal spots, contribute to its appeal. However, prospective visitors, particularly those planning weekend stays, should be fully aware of the strict enforcement of rules and consider if this aligns with their desired camping experience. The resort's beauty comes with clear expectations for adherence to its guidelines, which, while maintaining the "lovely grounds," can impact individual guest experiences.

Crystal Springs RV Resort Reviews
This is a very nice campground. It is right off the freeway, so it is good for people passing through. There are also seasonal and weekend spots available. It is very scenic with lots of trees and the lake. The bathroom and shower house is also nice.
Apr 14, 2025 · Timothy MontourThis is probably the most beautiful RV campground I've ever been to. Absolutely lovely grounds. But "perfect" came with its downfall. Our adult daughter came to visit and apparently her tires were on the grass on our camping spot. It says in the rules that there should be no parking on the grass and I completely respect that in this lovely campground. But the owner came around with a reaction to her having a tire in the grass that startled our family. It was over the top and quite harsh. My adult daughter felt unwelcome and awkward so she left. As much as I enjoyed this lovely campground, I would NOT recommend it for weekenders. We did not feel welcome. This is a snooty campground.
Oct 03, 2024 · Felicia DrenthThis is the nicest campground that we've been to. Spacious, level spots.. very peaceful,clean.. beautiful view of the lake. Definitely will return. The owners put a lot of hard work in this place and it shows..the bathroom//laundry//and gathering hall must be new..so nice 👍
Sep 07, 2024 · Lori LaCanneThe bathrooms / showers were the nicest and cleanest of any RV park I have ever stayed at. The lots were level. Long term residents keep their lots clean and clutter free There is a walking trail around the lake. Even the area around the garbage dumpster was clean. The campground is very convenient to I35. All the people we met were friendly.
