Sun Outdoors Coos Bay Introduce
For those searching for "RV parks near me" along the scenic Oregon Coast, Sun Outdoors Coos Bay, located at 90281 Cape Arago Hwy in Coos Bay, presents a compelling option due to its beachfront location and reported friendly staff. However, recent customer reviews also highlight some potential drawbacks that prospective visitors should consider. This introduction aims to provide a balanced overview based on the available feedback to help local users make an informed decision.
One of the most significant advantages of Sun Outdoors Coos Bay, as noted by multiple reviewers, is its beautiful location directly on the beach. This prime coastal setting offers stunning views and easy access to the ocean, making it an attractive choice for those seeking RV parks near me with direct beach access. The allure of waking up to the sound of the waves and being steps away from the sand is a major draw for many campers and RV enthusiasts. The park's location on Cape Arago Highway also suggests proximity to other coastal attractions and scenic drives in the Coos Bay area.
In addition to its location, Sun Outdoors Coos Bay is described by one reviewer as a "nice clean quiet park," which is a significant positive. Cleanliness and a peaceful atmosphere are often high priorities for individuals and families when selecting RV parks near me. A quiet environment allows for relaxation and enjoyment of the natural surroundings, while a clean park contributes to a more pleasant and hygienic stay. This reviewer also noted that the park is "good for kids and adults," suggesting that it offers a family-friendly environment and caters to a diverse range of visitors.
Another positive aspect highlighted in the reviews is the "nice friendly staff." Positive interactions with park staff can greatly enhance the overall camping experience, providing assistance, information, and a welcoming atmosphere. Friendly staff can make guests feel more comfortable and well-cared for, which is a valuable attribute when choosing from various RV parks near me.
Furthermore, Sun Outdoors Coos Bay offers an alternative to traditional camping with "clean cozy cabins." This option caters to those who may prefer a more structured accommodation while still enjoying the park's location and amenities. The availability of cabins alongside RV sites can be a significant advantage for groups or families with varying preferences or for those who want a break from tent or RV living. When searching for "RV parks near me," the presence of cabin rentals can broaden the appeal of a location.
However, alongside these positive comments, there are also some significant concerns raised in the reviews that potential visitors should be aware of. One long-time camper at this location, who has been visiting for years, notes that since Sun Outdoors acquired the park, prices have increased. While price increases are not uncommon with changes in ownership or market conditions, this is a factor that budget-conscious travelers searching for affordable RV parks near me will want to consider.
More concerning is the issue raised regarding reservations and site guarantees. The reviewer states that if you do not pay an additional "lock down price" of $40, your reservation does not guarantee a spot. This is a significant departure from the typical reservation system at many RV parks near me, where a confirmed booking usually ensures a campsite. The reviewer explicitly states, "Your reservation means nothing!" and recounts experiencing this firsthand. This policy could lead to uncertainty and potential disappointment for travelers who have made reservations in advance, especially if they are traveling from a distance.
Another significant drawback mentioned in the reviews is the unreliable internet service. The reviewer describes the internet as "a joke" and notes that its performance deteriorates further when it gets wet, rendering streaming impossible. They also advise against purchasing the premium internet service, stating that it is just as bad as the basic option. In today's connected world, reliable internet access is often a necessity for many travelers, whether for work or leisure. When searching for RV parks near me, poor or unreliable internet can be a major inconvenience.
Considering these points, Sun Outdoors Coos Bay offers a prime beachfront location with a reportedly friendly staff and clean facilities, including the option of cozy cabins. These are significant advantages that may appeal to many looking for RV parks near me on the Oregon Coast. However, potential visitors should also be aware of the reported issues with price increases, a non-guaranteed reservation system without an additional fee, and unreliable internet service. These drawbacks could significantly impact the overall experience for some travelers.
For local users considering Sun Outdoors Coos Bay, it would be prudent to contact the park directly using the provided phone numbers – (541) 888-2598 or +1 541-888-2598 – to inquire about their current pricing structure, reservation policies (especially regarding site guarantees and any additional fees), and the status of their internet service. Asking specific questions about these aspects will help potential visitors understand the current situation and make an informed decision.
While the reviews highlight the beautiful beachfront location, they do not provide extensive details about other amenities that Sun Outdoors Coos Bay might offer. It would be beneficial to inquire about facilities such as laundry, restrooms and showers, recreational areas (playgrounds, common rooms, etc.), and the types of hookups available at the RV sites (water, electricity, sewer). Understanding the full range of services and features available will help in comparing this park with other RV parks near me.
The reviews do not mention any specific promotional information. It is always worth asking the park management directly about any current discounts for longer stays, seasonal specials, or other offers that might be available. Checking their website or social media pages, if they exist, could also provide information on promotions.
In conclusion, Sun Outdoors Coos Bay offers a desirable beachfront location on the Oregon Coast and is praised for its friendly staff and clean environment. However, potential visitors should be aware of reported price increases, a reservation system that may require an additional fee for a guaranteed spot, and unreliable internet service. For those searching for "RV parks near me" in the Coos Bay area, contacting the park directly to clarify these points and inquire about other amenities and current promotions is strongly recommended before making a reservation.

Sun Outdoors Coos Bay Reviews
We have been camping at this rv park for years. For a few years now Sun Outdoors bought it and prices have gone up and if you don’t pay the additional lock down price of 40 bucks you are not guaranteed a spot. We experienced this. Your reservation means nothing! Ridiculous. The internet is a joke so when it gets wet you can’t stream anything. DO NOT purchase the premium it is just as bad as basic. The location and the on site staff are awesome.

Apr 17, 2025 · slater442w30We have stayed at this campground for numerous years and have always been satisfied until it was taken over by Sun Outdoors. I am not a fan of reviews, however, I am doing this one for others to consider. This year, 2024, we again reserved a spot but noticed the prices were raised substantially. Shrugging this off we attributed it to rising expenses like most everything else these days. In the past we would call and reserve a spot for our stay. The park would check availability and put us down for the dates requested. This year Sun Outdoors added a Lock In fee of $40.00. This fee is to quarantine our spot on the dates requested. I guess reserving the dates as in the pass is no longer sufficient. This is confusing to me as I have always believed a reservation was just that without added fees.In addition there was also a resort fee of $10.00 per day. We have stayed at other RV parks with a resort fee and did not mind paying it as they were rather plush with numerous added amenities such as a swimming pool, hot tub, an exercise room with all the equipment, and very spacious sites to name a few. We did not see any of this and were very disappointed at having to pay a “resort fee” for no apparent or obvious improvements.Due to the above increases in costs we will no longer be staying at one of our favorite parks.
Sep 06, 2024 · Bonnie LeeNice resort...cabins were nice and equipped well. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.
Apr 16, 2025 · Suzette GWe really enjoyed our stay at Sun Outdoors Coo's Bay. The grounds are are nicely maintained, and the bathroom and laundry facilities were clean. This is the first campground that I have ever seen a groundskeeper clean sites and picnic tables after a guest leaves. There is a nice game room that is open during office hours, and the little store inside the office was nicely stocked with a lot of items that are often forgotten and needed. The very best thing though... the beautiful beach access!!
