Wheel House RV Park Introduce
Welcome to Wheel House RV Park, a noteworthy destination for RV enthusiasts located at 906 S Jefferson Way, Indianola, IA 50125, USA. As a key listing within the "RV Parks Near Me" category, Wheel House RV Park aims to provide a practical and accommodating stay for a variety of travelers, from those passing through to those seeking extended residency in the Indianola area. You can reach them by phone at (515) 371-7074 or mobile at +1 515-371-7074.
When considering an RV park, environment is often a primary factor. Wheel House RV Park presents itself as a place suitable for living, suggesting a stable and perhaps more residential atmosphere than a transient campground. Located in Indianola, Iowa, it offers a convenient base for exploring the local area. While specific details on the natural surroundings are not extensively provided, its location in a smaller Iowa town implies a quieter setting, potentially with easy access to the community and local attractions. For those concerned about sun exposure, one past guest noted that the gravel can make campers "almost unbearably hot," which might be a consideration for certain RV types or during warmer months. This suggests that while there may be open spaces, shade might be limited in some areas.
In terms of services and features, Wheel House RV Park is particularly highlighted for its flexibility in management, a characteristic that can be highly beneficial for long-term campers. This flexibility suggests an understanding approach to resident needs, which is a significant draw for individuals or families planning extended stays. The park is noted as being "great for long term camping," indicating that it is set up to accommodate residents for weeks or even months at a time, potentially offering amenities and pricing structures tailored to such arrangements. This makes it a strong contender for those searching for "RV Parks Near Me" with an emphasis on longer durations.
One feature mentioned is the presence of "play equipment," which suggests that Wheel House RV Park aims to be family-friendly, catering to those traveling with children. This can be a valuable amenity, offering entertainment for younger guests directly within the park premises.
However, it's important to consider some aspects of the park's operation and reported experiences. The management office is reportedly run by volunteers, which means it "is not always open." This could impact immediate assistance or inquiries, requiring guests to plan accordingly or rely on other communication methods. While this might be a minor inconvenience for some, it speaks to a potentially more laid-back operational style.
Customer feedback provides a more nuanced picture of the park. One positive review praises it as a "great place to live" with "flexible management," reinforcing the park's suitability for long-term residents. The photo shared by this guest, despite the canopy issue, suggests a sense of comfort and belonging, further emphasizing its appeal as a semi-permanent home for RVers.
Conversely, another review raises concerns about the park's management interactions and specific environmental conditions. While acknowledging the "price is right" and the availability of "play equipment," this guest experienced a severe issue regarding their children playing at the park. The owners reportedly threatened involvement from Child Protective Services (DHS) and eviction without attempting to communicate with the children's sitter present at their camper. This incident highlights a potential rigidity or lack of direct communication in certain situations, which contrasts with the "flexible management" lauded in another review. This suggests that while flexibility may be present in some aspects, there might be strict rules or approaches to certain behaviors, particularly concerning children's unsupervised play. Potential visitors with active children should clarify park policies regarding playground supervision. The complaint about the gravel making the camper "almost unbearably hot" also points to a practical consideration for RVers, suggesting a need for adequate air conditioning or choosing shaded spots if available.
For those considering Wheel House RV Park within the "RV Parks Near Me" category, it appears to be a viable option, particularly for individuals or families looking for a stable, longer-term camping solution in Indianola, IA. Its strengths lie in its reported flexibility for extended stays and the presence of play equipment for children. However, prospective guests should be mindful of the volunteer-run office hours and inquire about specific park rules, especially concerning child supervision and the implications of the gravel sites on heat management. Given its address, it offers convenient access to Indianola's local amenities and attractions, making it a practical base for exploring the area. Promotions or special offers are not explicitly detailed in the provided information, but interested parties are encouraged to contact the park directly at (515) 371-7074 to inquire about current rates, availability, and any potential long-term discounts or promotional packages.

Wheel House RV Park Reviews
Great place to live. Flexible management. Only down side is office is ran by volunteers so it's not always open. Great for long term camping. Please excuse the messed up canopy on my camper. It's the best picture I have of this location!!
Apr 09, 2025 · Meagan StanfieldI really wanted to love this place. The price is right and there is play equipment to boot. however i have 2 boys that are rowdy not gunna lie, but while I was working and a sitter was at my camper with them they had gone to the park to play and the owners threatened me with dhs because I wasn't there with them. They didn't knock on the door to talk with the sitter and instead said they would kick us out and keep our money for the month. Also the gravel makes the camper almost umberably hot.
Sep 06, 2022 · breeze butlerWas going to camper here so did a drive around to look and it from appearance is kinda junky, plastic butt bucket that seems to be a fire hazards, a junk race car and car that's been pulled apart just sitting out a hazard for kids and a horder looking camper with junk all on the outside. Get what you pay for Ig.
