Based on feedback from fellow travelers, Anchor Inn Campground & Cabins presents a mixed experience, particularly distinguishing between the campground facilities and the cabin rentals. For those seeking a budget-friendly camping option, the campground appears to be a notable choice. One recent visitor highlighted the excellent value, mentioning a rate of just $14 per night for electric hookups up to 50 amps. They also praised the friendly and laid-back service encountered during booking. The campground itself is described as quiet, chill, and safe, contributing to a relaxing atmosphere. For added convenience, the women's restroom was noted to be clean, with a minor observation about mildew in the shower. Pet owners will appreciate the dog-friendly policy, and the availability of free WiFi is a definite plus for staying connected. Specific campsites, like spot number 2, are equipped with a picnic table and a fire pit, enhancing the outdoor experience. Its proximity to the Apostle Islands makes it an ideal and inexpensive option for those looking to explore this natural treasure while enjoying the comforts of electricity at their campsite.
However, the experience with the cabin rentals, as indicated by another guest, was less satisfactory. This visitor, who chose a cabin due to its reasonable price and proximity to Bayfield, reported issues concerning cleanliness. Specifically, cabin number 1 was noted to have a strong odor of fish, potentially due to its proximity to a nearby gas station that sells smoked fish. Furthermore, the mini-fridge in the cabin contained leftover meat, and the microwave had dried food inside. The guest's interaction with the attendant regarding the cleanliness issues resulted in a feeling of being dismissed, which detracted from their stay. This feedback suggests that while the campground might offer good value and a pleasant environment, potential cabin renters should be aware of these past experiences.
Considering the "camping near me" category, Anchor Inn Campground & Cabins offers a range of services and features to cater to different needs. For campers, the availability of electric hookups (up to 50 amps) at a very competitive price is a significant advantage. The presence of clean restroom facilities (with a minor note about the women's shower), a dog-friendly policy, and free WiFi further enhance the camping experience. The provision of picnic tables and fire pits at individual sites like spot 2 allows for comfortable outdoor dining and campfires, quintessential elements of a camping trip. The quiet and safe environment of the campground contributes to a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
For those considering cabin rentals, the proximity to Bayfield is a definite benefit, offering easy access to the town's attractions, shops, and ferry services to the Apostle Islands. However, based on the provided review, it would be prudent for potential renters to inquire specifically about the cleanliness and condition of the cabins prior to booking. The feedback regarding the fish odor in cabin 1, along with the issues concerning the refrigerator and microwave, highlights areas that prospective guests might want to address with the management.
In summary, Anchor Inn Campground & Cabins presents itself as an affordable option for those looking to camp near the Apostle Islands and have access to electric hookups. The positive review of the campground emphasizes its value, cleanliness (of the restrooms), and friendly service. The less favorable review of a cabin stay points to potential inconsistencies in the rental units. For local users searching for "camping near me," Anchor Inn offers a budget-friendly campground with essential amenities. If you are considering a cabin, it may be wise to seek more information to ensure it meets your expectations.

Anchor Inn Campground & Cabins Reviews
Had a lovely stay here on August 18th. You can't beat the price ($14/night for electric up to 50 amps). The woman I booked the reservation through was really nice and laid back. The campground is quiet, chill and safe. The woman's restroom was clean, despite some mildew on the shower ceiling (no big deal). Dog-friendly and free WiFi. Great option if you're looking for something near the Apostle Islands that's inexpensive and includes electricity. I stayed in spot 2, which is near the bathrooms and has a picnic table and fire pit.
Aug 21, 2023 · Whitney LauritsenI rented a cabin her because it was reasonably priced and close to Bayfield. Unfortunately, I was not very pleased with my stay.I was in cabin 1 which smelled very strongly of fish, perhaps because it is very close to the gas station that sells smoked fish. My mini fridge had meat left in it and my microwave was had dried food on the inside. I didn’t notice the microwave until I went to use it at 8:30pm, so I didn’t say anything until the morning. When I informed the attendant, she first was insistent that she cleaned it. Then, I showed her the photo I took of the inside and said “well, I cleaned the outside.” It just felt like she blowed me off.

Sep 18, 2024 · Catherine GossExcellent campground and very reasonably priced. I have stayed here many times in the cabins and tent sites and family has stayed at the RV sites. The cabins have always been immaculate upon arrival. The post mentioning the dirty microwave had to be a fluke and besides...who stays at a place and leaves it like that when they check out??The owner, Jessica, is always making improvements to the facilities and never takes a day off. Kate, Jim, Judy and everyone who works there are very pleasant and accommodating. They go out of their way to help in any way and you can tell that's how they treat every customer. Can't say enough about how great this place is and how it continually improves.Thank You Jessica and all your team!
Sep 14, 2024 · Tom WenWe had been traveling across country for two weeks and needed a place to stay in our camper overnight in the Port Wing area. This was the only campground we could find that had a vacant site, so we reserved a spot on the phone en route. I was told it was electric only, no water. We have stayed at many campgrounds without a water hookup overnight, no problem. We just fill up our holding tank before parking and use our water pump. When I checked in, I paid the fee, which was only $14. Cheap. I asked where we could go to fill up our tank and was told they don't have water on premises. What? I've never heard of such a thing. I asked where I could go to fill up my tanks, and they suggested I go to Cornucopia which is 15 miles down the road. Unbelievable. We were headed there to get water and stopped at a different campground on the way. I asked their host if I could fill up there, and they graciously allowed us to. I paid them for their trouble. When we got back to Anchor Inn to park in our campsite, we discovered that there were water spigots all over the place, just not at our particular site. We could have easily filled our holding tank there. Why in the world they told me they have no water is beyond me.On another note, the bathroom was terrible. It was a quiet campground. I'll give it that.Would I stay there again? No.
