Big Timber / Greycliff KOA Journey Introduce
When your search for "camping near me" leads you to Big Timber, Montana, especially if you're on your way to the iconic Yellowstone National Park, the Big Timber / Greycliff KOA Journey, located at 693 Hwy 10 E, Big Timber, MT 59011, USA, presents itself as a convenient and well-equipped option. As part of the well-known KOA (Kampgrounds of America) network, this campground likely adheres to certain standards of quality and service, making it a reliable choice for various types of campers, from those in tents and RVs to those seeking the comfort of cabins.
Based on customer reviews, the Big Timber / Greycliff KOA Journey stands out for its comfortable accommodations and thoughtful amenities. One reviewer who stayed in a "deluxe cabin" described it as "well worth it," highlighting the "top notch" thoughtfulness and "cute decor." The generous supply of linens and soaps also contributed to a positive experience, suggesting that the cabins are well-appointed for a comfortable and hassle-free stay. For those seeking "camping near me" but preferring a more structured and comfortable lodging option than traditional tent camping, the deluxe cabins at this KOA could be an excellent choice.
The check-in and check-out processes are reported to be "simple," which is always a welcome feature, especially for travelers who are tired from a long journey. Efficiency in these administrative tasks allows guests to settle in and relax quickly upon arrival and depart smoothly when it's time to move on. This ease of process adds to the overall convenience of staying at the Big Timber / Greycliff KOA Journey.
A significant convenience offered by this KOA is the presence of a store on site. This store is noted to stock groceries and toiletries, which can be incredibly helpful in case campers forget essential items or need to replenish supplies. Having a store within the campground eliminates the need to make a separate trip into town, adding to the overall ease and convenience of the stay. For those looking for "camping near me" where basic necessities are readily available, this is a valuable feature.
The staff at the Big Timber / Greycliff KOA Journey are consistently described as "friendly and helpful." Positive interactions with campground staff can significantly enhance the camping experience, making guests feel welcome and supported. Whether it's assistance with check-in, directions, or general inquiries, a friendly and helpful staff can make a big difference in overall satisfaction.
The location of the campground is also highlighted as "convenient with easy access." While one review mentions "easy access from interstate" (likely I-90, the major east-west route through this part of Montana), the actual address is on Highway 10 East in Big Timber. Regardless, easy access from a major highway is a significant advantage for travelers, particularly those on a longer journey, making it a practical choice when searching for "camping near me" along your route.
For those traveling with pets and specifically looking for "pet-friendly campgrounds Montana," the Big Timber / Greycliff KOA Journey has a policy to be aware of. One reviewer noted that it was the "Only KOA we have ever been to that charged a pet fee." While the fee itself isn't specified, pet owners should inquire about the cost when making their reservations to factor it into their budget. Despite the fee, the fact that pets are allowed makes it a viable option for those traveling with animal companions.
The campground offers "nice shaded pull through sites," which are particularly convenient for RVs. Pull-through sites eliminate the need to back in, making setup and departure much easier, especially for larger rigs or less experienced RVers. The shade is also a significant benefit, especially during warmer months, providing a more comfortable and cooler environment at the campsite. For RV owners searching for "RV parks Montana" with these features, the Big Timber / Greycliff KOA Journey appears to be a good option.
One potential environmental factor to consider is noise. The campground is located near a highway (Hwy 10 E) and also has train traffic in the vicinity. One reviewer mentioned, "Traffic noise wasn't bad but yes there is a train." They also noted that the office offers earplugs at check-in, a proactive measure to help guests sleep despite the train noise. The reviewer found that the train only came through a few times at night and wasn't "horrible," suggesting that while it's present, it might not be overly disruptive for all sleepers. However, light sleepers might want to take advantage of the earplugs or consider this factor when booking.
As a KOA Journey campground, it typically offers a range of amenities beyond just campsites and cabins. While not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews, KOA Journey locations often include clean restrooms and showers, laundry facilities, Wi-Fi access, and possibly recreational areas such as playgrounds or communal gathering spaces. Given the positive mention of "clean facilities" in one review, it's likely that these essential amenities are well-maintained at this location.
Regarding promotional information, the provided reviews do not mention any specific discounts or special offers. To learn about current rates, seasonal promotions, or any potential discounts for KOA members, it is best to contact the Big Timber / Greycliff KOA Journey directly at (406) 932-6569 or +1 406-932-6569. You can also likely find rate information and make reservations through the official KOA website (www.koa.com). Checking for any ongoing deals or packages might help you get the best value for your stay.
In conclusion, the Big Timber / Greycliff KOA Journey offers a convenient and comfortable camping experience for those exploring Montana or traveling to Yellowstone National Park. The availability of well-appointed deluxe cabins, the convenience of an on-site store, the friendly and helpful staff, and the easy access from the highway make it a strong contender when searching for "camping near me" in this region. While the presence of train noise is something to be aware of, the campground takes steps to mitigate its impact. Big Timber / Greycliff KOA Journey Reviews
Perfect stay on our way to Yellowstone. We rented the deluxe cabin and it was well worth it! The thoughtfulness was top notch and I appreciated the cute decor. Very clean and generous supply of linens and soaps. Check-in and check-out were simple. I loved that there is a store on site including groceries and toiletries in case you forget something. Staff were friendly and helpful. Convenient location with easy access. We would stay here again!
Aug 14, 2024 · Kari KelcherNice KOA for a one night stop across Montana. Clean facilities & friendly staff. Only KOA we have ever been to that charged a pet fee. Easy access from interstate. Nice shaded pull through sites. Traffic noise wasn't bad but yes there is a train. Office offers ear plugs at check in haha. Only came through a few times in the night & wasn't horrible.
Oct 16, 2024 · janet hansen2nd time there, the staff is always so kind. They work really hard at keeping the grounds clean, well kept. Having a pool there on 100 degree days was amazing. Will continue to go back. Know that this campground does sit next to the interstate and train tracks so there is some noise which didn't bother us but they offer ear plugs in case you need some.
Aug 05, 2024 · Melissa CarterPulled in after we pulled into a “dump” campground & moved on… few miles prior. Made a reservation on the short distance but in my frustration & angst I made it at a KOA in Wyoming! No problem, the young couple @ the desk fixed me up & canceled my other reservation. AWESOME evening. What amazing care & empathy from the staff. They went out of their way to make us comfortable & feel almost like family!
Aug 04, 2024 · Beth HaiderWe enjoyed this place. It is beautiful with large, mature trees and loads of shade. Friendly staff. It is an old, old park, you can tell, but they have and are making improvements to accommodate today’s larger rigs. The utilities were dependable. No cable and we were not able to get local tv. WiFi was pretty good for a campground. We did not level since we were only there for a quick overnight, but we didn’t notice anyone having difficulties. The public restrooms and showers were old but looked clean. The sites are a bit tight and the entry/exit roads could use a bit maintenance.
