Boulder Park Campground Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" within the breathtaking landscapes of Bighorn National Forest near Ten Sleep, Wyoming? Boulder Park Campground, located within this natural gem, offers a promising option for those seeking a traditional camping experience. Situated in a picturesque mountain setting, this campground provides essential amenities and access to the surrounding wilderness. This introduction aims to provide local users with a detailed overview of Boulder Park Campground, drawing upon available customer reviews to offer an objective perspective on its environment, services, and features, particularly for those exploring "camping near me" in this region.
The environment of Boulder Park Campground is clearly a significant draw, being located within the renowned Bighorn National Forest. This vast and diverse forest encompasses towering peaks, deep canyons, lush valleys, and pristine lakes, offering a wealth of natural beauty and opportunities for outdoor recreation. The campground itself is described as a "really great spot to camp" and features "beautiful campsites," suggesting that campers can expect a scenic and pleasant setting. The mountainous location implies a natural environment with potentially varying terrain, including the mention of "a lot of gravel" at some sites. Despite this, one reviewer noted that even pitching a tent on mostly gravel was "manageable" and resulted in a good night's sleep, indicating that the overall appeal of the location outweighs minor inconveniences.
The services and features of Boulder Park Campground are well-received by visitors. A key aspect is its operation on a "1st come, 1st served type deal," which means that reservations are not taken, and campsites are allocated to those who arrive first. This can be both an advantage and a disadvantage; it offers flexibility for spontaneous trips but also means there's a possibility of the campground being full, especially during peak seasons. Each campsite is equipped with practical amenities, including "fire pits with grills" for cooking and enjoying campfires, and "picnic tables" for convenient outdoor dining and gathering. These are standard and highly valued features for a traditional camping experience.
One of the standout features mentioned in the reviews is the cleanliness of the bathroom facilities. The reviewer specifically noted that the "bathrooms were clean and didn't stink like you'd expect from a potter-potty type setup." This positive feedback about the cleanliness of what are likely vault toilets (given the remote mountain location) is a significant plus, as clean and well-maintained restrooms greatly enhance the comfort of a camping trip. The camp host also receives high praise, being described as "super sweet" and someone who "really cares about the campground." The presence of a helpful and caring camp host can significantly improve the overall camping experience by providing assistance, information, and a sense of community.
For those interested in outdoor activities beyond the campsite, Boulder Park Campground offers convenient access to "some great trails around the area." This is a major attraction for hikers and nature enthusiasts looking to explore the Bighorn National Forest. The ability to easily access hiking trails directly from the campground adds significant value for those seeking "camping near me" with opportunities for exploration and adventure. Additionally, the reviewer mentioned that it's easy to "forage for wood if needed," suggesting that campers can collect firewood in the vicinity, although it's always important to check local regulations regarding firewood collection within the national forest.
A practical consideration for potential visitors is the lack of "cellphone service," which the reviewer notes is "to be expected in the mountains." This is an important piece of information for those who rely on mobile communication. Campers should be prepared for limited or no connectivity and plan accordingly, especially regarding navigation and emergency communication. This aspect contributes to the remote and natural experience of camping in the Bighorn National Forest.
Another reviewer echoed the positive sentiment, calling Boulder Park Campground a "Great spot to rest before heading up the drainage." This suggests that the campground is well-situated for those exploring the higher elevations or other attractions within the Bighorn National Forest. The second reviewer also specifically mentioned that "Camp Host Audrey was very helpful!" further reinforcing the positive feedback about the campground staff. The description of "Beautiful campsites" aligns with the first review, highlighting the aesthetic appeal of the camping area.
Given that Boulder Park Campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis, there is no need for reservations, which can be appealing for those who prefer more spontaneous travel plans. However, it also means that availability is not guaranteed, especially during peak times such as weekends and holidays. For local users considering this campground, it would be wise to arrive early in the day to increase the chances of securing a site. Checking online resources or contacting the Bighorn National Forest service might provide some insights into typical occupancy levels during different times of the year.
Promotional information is not included in the provided reviews. As a campground within the Bighorn National Forest, fees are likely associated with camping, but the exact rates are not mentioned. It is advisable for potential visitors to check the Bighorn National Forest website or contact them directly to inquire about current camping fees and any regulations that might apply to camping in the area. Information about permits or passes that might be required for accessing and camping within the national forest would also be essential for planning a trip to Boulder Park Campground.
In conclusion, Boulder Park Campground offers a "really great spot to camp" within the scenic Bighorn National Forest near Ten Sleep, Wyoming. Its first-come, first-served system, combined with amenities like fire pits with grills, picnic tables, and clean bathrooms, makes it a convenient and comfortable option for those seeking a traditional camping experience. The helpful and caring camp host further enhances the positive atmosphere. With access to great hiking trails and a beautiful natural environment, it's an ideal choice for those looking for "camping near me" and wanting to immerse themselves in the wilderness. However, potential visitors should be aware of the limited cell service and the need to arrive early to secure a site. Checking with the Bighorn National Forest service for current fees and regulations is also recommended.

Boulder Park Campground Reviews
Really great spot to camp. 1st come, 1st served type deal. Fire pits with grills and picnic tables at each site. Bathrooms were clean and didn't stink like you'd expect from a potter-potty type setup. Some sites are better for tent camping than others, as there's a lot of gravel. We had to pitch out tent on mostly gravel but it was manageable and we still slept well. The camp host was super sweet and you can tell she really cares about the campground. There's some great trails around the area and you can easily forage for wood if needed. No cellphone service though but that's to be expected in the mountains.

Aug 29, 2023 · IowaHikerAwesome to be in the mountains any time. This is a clean area with bathroom vaults nearby. No amenities, just decent camping.
Jul 21, 2019 · Waylon RaderThis is one of our favorite campgrounds! It is always clean and well cared for. The river is absolutely spectacular and the views are gorgeous.
Jul 24, 2022 · Elisa BoothWe enjoyed our stay last August. We were absolutely thrilled to have a young bull moose come right past our camp site. Would give it 5 stars. If there would have been a host present and firewood to buy. Thankfully our neighbors had a Milwaukee chainsaw and we were able to cut up some downed trees.
