Camp Swatara Family Camp Introduce
Looking for the perfect family camping experience in the Bethel, Pennsylvania area? Camp Swatara Family Camp, located at 348200771597 in Bethel, PA 19507, offers a local camping option for those searching for "camping near me." This Christian-owned campground provides a welcoming atmosphere for families looking to enjoy the outdoors. You can reach them by phone at (717) 933-8510 or their mobile number, +1 717-933-8510, for inquiries and reservations.
Based on feedback from fellow campers, Camp Swatara presents a family-friendly environment where children can often be seen enjoying themselves. This lively atmosphere can be a real plus for families with young ones looking for a place where their kids can have fun and socialize. However, it's worth noting that some reviewers have mentioned the presence of many children running around, which might be something to consider depending on your personal preferences for campground ambiance.
One of the key amenities offered at Camp Swatara is the availability of water and electric hookups at the campsites. This is a significant advantage for RV campers and those who appreciate having access to these utilities for a more comfortable camping experience. Having these hookups readily available adds a layer of convenience, allowing you to power your RV appliances and have easy access to water for various needs during your stay.
While the campground offers a local getaway, some aspects have received attention in customer reviews that potential visitors should be aware of. Several reviewers have pointed out that the trees throughout the campground can be overgrown, particularly mentioning low-hanging branches. This is a crucial point for RV owners to consider, as navigating the campground and individual sites requires caution to avoid potential scratches to your RV, especially the roof and air conditioning units. Arriving during daylight hours and taking your time maneuvering through the campground seems to be a recommended approach based on this feedback.
Another area for potential improvement mentioned by campers is the lack of a personal map provided upon arrival or beforehand. Having a campground map, even a digital version emailed to guests, would significantly enhance the check-in process, especially for those arriving after hours. Navigating a new campground in the dark without a map can be challenging, and providing one would greatly improve the overall guest experience by making it easier to locate their assigned site and understand the layout of the facilities.
In terms of the overall condition of the campground, some reviewers have suggested that it could benefit from some general upkeep and attention. While the core appeal of a local, family-oriented campground remains, investing in some TLC could further enhance the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the facilities. This could include trimming overgrown vegetation, improving signage, and ensuring all amenities are in good working order.
One of the unique aspects highlighted in the reviews is that Camp Swatara is Christian-owned. For some campers, this adds a sense of community and aligns with their values, potentially contributing to a more respectful and peaceful atmosphere. While one reviewer noted that the campsites felt somewhat close together, they also appreciated the absence of disruptive parties during their stay, which they attributed to the campground's ownership and ethos.
For those looking for on-site activities, Camp Swatara does offer some options, such as mini golf. However, it's important to note that the availability of these activities might be sporadic. If specific recreational activities are a key part of your camping plans, it would be advisable to inquire about their operating hours and availability beforehand to avoid disappointment.
Finally, a significant environmental factor mentioned by multiple reviewers is the presence of poison ivy, particularly in areas with brush. Campers should exercise caution and be aware of this potential hazard, especially when exploring areas outside of the immediate campsites. Taking necessary precautions, such as wearing appropriate clothing and being able to identify poison ivy, is recommended to ensure a safe and comfortable stay.
In summary, Camp Swatara Family Camp offers a local, Christian-owned camping option near Bethel, PA, with the convenience of water and electric hookups. It's a place where families can often find a lively and kid-friendly atmosphere. However, potential visitors should be mindful of the overgrown trees, the lack of a personal campground map, and the presence of poison ivy. While some areas could benefit from general maintenance, the campground provides a community-focused camping experience in a convenient location. For those seeking a local camping spot with essential amenities, Camp Swatara could be a viable option, keeping the mentioned considerations in mind to ensure a smooth and enjoyable visit. We encourage you to contact them directly at (717) 933-8510 or +1 717-933-8510 for the most up-to-date information on availability, amenities, and any current promotions.

Camp Swatara Family Camp Reviews
We arrived after hours it was dark lots of kids running around, which was good to see the only thing that I did not like was the overgrown trees so you have to watch out that it doesn’t catch your RV. The air conditioning unit on top was my biggest concern along with scratching my roof. I did not like the fact that there isn’t a personal map to guide you through the campground even if they would have emailed us a copy of the campground map would’ve been great too but overall it’s not a bad place. Could definitely use a little TLC throughout the campground, if you arrive after hours, make sure you take your time. There is a ton of kids running around and there are very low branches
Oct 12, 2024 · BrandonIt's a great local location. Christian owned and so while the sites are close too close) together, there weren't any wild parties when we were there so it isn't bad overall. Different activities places like mini golf are open only very sporadically. There is water and electric hookups on the sites.Watch out for lots of poison ivy wherever there's brush.
Jul 18, 2021 · Vlad KravetsOnly spent the night. We have never seen a Family Campground as this. Families with children everywhere. Lots of kids activities and a full calendar of daily events. This is a Christian Family Campground. Reminded me of what campgrounds were like in the '60s & '70s! Loved the atmosphere here.
Aug 10, 2024 · Ray Foren (Ray)Even though the pool was closed this is a great place for family camping. It was our kids first time tent camping and they loved it! I would highly recommend. Pet friendly. Nice playgrounds, small store with basics. Nice discgolf and put put courses.
Jun 01, 2024 · Theodore MyersWe visited friends at their cabin and played the 18-hole frisbee golf. Everything was wet from the rain but we had the course to ourselves. This course is challenging.
