Concrete / Grandy Creek KOA Holiday Introduce
For local residents and travelers seeking "camping near me" in the scenic region of Concrete, Washington (98237, USA), the Concrete / Grandy Creek KOA Holiday offers a well-known brand of campground experience. Located at 7370 Russell Rd, this KOA Holiday aims to provide a range of amenities and services for a comfortable and convenient camping stay, serving as a potential basecamp for exploring the natural beauty of the North Cascades, Baker Lake, and the charming town of Concrete. However, recent customer reviews highlight some significant issues that potential visitors should be aware of when considering this campground for their "camping near me" needs.
The environment of Concrete / Grandy Creek KOA Holiday is situated in a region known for its natural beauty. Concrete is nestled in the Skagit River Valley, surrounded by mountains and forests, offering access to outdoor recreational activities. The campground likely benefits from this setting, potentially providing scenic views and a natural ambiance. Its proximity to attractions like Baker Lake and the surrounding wilderness areas suggests that campers can easily access hiking trails, fishing spots, and other outdoor adventures. The reviews mention enjoying visits to the local area, including the town of Concrete, Baker Lake, and Bay View on Padilla Bay, indicating that the campground's location offers opportunities for exploration beyond the immediate campsite.
In terms of services and amenities, KOA campgrounds generally aim to provide a more comprehensive offering than rustic or backcountry sites. While specific amenities at the Concrete / Grandy Creek KOA Holiday aren't fully detailed in the reviews, the mention of a "main bathhouse" (with separate women's and presumably men's sides) and a smaller "2nd bathhouse" indicates the presence of restroom and shower facilities. The fact that the restrooms were "cleaned and stocked frequently" in the smaller bathhouse suggests a commitment to hygiene, at least in that area. The main bathhouse also included laundry facilities. Individual campsites are described as "good and level," which is a positive aspect for setting up tents or parking RVs. However, a significant issue reported is the "septic/sewer issue at the main bathhouse on the women’s side that closed the entire bathhouse including the laundry periodically" and, during one reviewer's stay, for an extended period from Tuesday to Friday. This closure caused a "big inconvenience," especially for those whose sites were far from the smaller, secondary bathhouse. Another concerning service issue mentioned was the unannounced "shut off the water to the park on Thursday morning," which affected the ability to use toilets in trailers. These service disruptions are critical points for potential campers to consider.
Features of KOA Holiday campgrounds often include a variety of amenities aimed at families and recreational travelers. While not explicitly listed in the provided reviews for this specific location, KOA Holiday campgrounds typically offer features such as playgrounds, swimming pools (though not mentioned here), Wi-Fi access (also not mentioned), and potentially organized activities. The positive aspects highlighted in the reviews are the "good and level" campsites and the cleanliness of the smaller bathhouse. However, these are overshadowed by the significant issues with the main bathhouse and the unexpected water shut-off. One reviewer also noted that their "campsite was littered with cigarette butts when we arrived," indicating a potential lack of thorough site maintenance between guests. Another issue mentioned was the presence of "pesky little flies" throughout their stay, which could detract from the outdoor experience, particularly during certain times of the year.
Given the significant service issues reported in the recent reviews, it is difficult to highlight any strong "promotional information" for the Concrete / Grandy Creek KOA Holiday based solely on this data. While the location offers access to a beautiful region and the campsites themselves are described as good, the unreliability of essential facilities like the main bathhouse and water supply are major drawbacks. Potential local users searching for "camping near me" would need to weigh the convenience of a KOA campground and its location against the risk of encountering these service disruptions. It would be prudent for prospective campers to check recent online reviews from multiple sources to see if these issues have been addressed by the management. Contacting the campground directly at (360) 826-3554 or +1 360-826-3554 to inquire about the current status of the bathhouse and water system would also be a wise step before making a reservation.
For local users seeking "camping near me" in the Concrete area, the Concrete / Grandy Creek KOA Holiday offers a location with access to regional attractions and campsites described as level. However, the recent negative reviews regarding the functionality and reliability of essential services, particularly the main bathhouse and water supply, raise significant concerns. While KOA campgrounds often provide a reliable and amenity-rich camping experience, the issues reported here suggest a potential need for improvement in infrastructure maintenance and communication with guests. Before considering a stay at this KOA Holiday, local campers should thoroughly research recent reviews from various platforms to ascertain the current state of the facilities and services. Direct communication with the campground management to inquire about the reported problems and any steps taken to resolve them is strongly recommended. While the location near Concrete, Baker Lake, and other attractions is appealing, the potential for significant inconvenience due to facility closures and service disruptions should be carefully considered when planning your "camping near me" getaway.

Concrete / Grandy Creek KOA Holiday Reviews
Stayed 10 nights. There was a septic/sewer issue at the main bathhouse on the women’s side that closed the entire bathhouse including the laundry periodically and after the first weekend part of our stay closed it all from Tuesday to Friday. This was a big inconvenience as our site was at the far end of the smaller 2nd bathhouse. Sites were good and level, and restrooms were cleaned and stocked frequently, but the bathroom situation needs fixing!!!
Jul 04, 2024 · Jim ChambersNot bad, not great. Only a few issues during our stay. Our campsite was littered with cigarette butts when we arrived. Fought pesky little flies our entire stay. They shut off the water to the park on Thursday morning, found out when I couldn't flush after using the commode in our trailer. There was no notice of the water being shut off. Did enjoy visits to the local area, the town of Concrete, Baker Lake, Bay View on Padilla Bay.
Aug 19, 2023 · Mark HastingsNot the worst place we've ever stayed but feel that $60 is overpriced for the SUPER tight small spaces, gravel drive and our site only having water & electric. Greeted by a friendly young man when we arrived, laundry room was clean and adequate and we had no issues using the dump on our way out. Nice area for walking the dog and there's a dog run, basketball court and pool. It's quiet and peaceful but not somewhere we would choose to stay again because the spaces were so close together and roadways were narrow in our section.
Aug 22, 2022 · Tammy TSome may really love this place and there isn’t anything blatantly wrong here, but this type of camping is not for me. I generally prefer campgrounds with a little more space and less crowded so take this review for what it’s worth. My first time at any KOA and honestly I was a little disappointed by how greedy this company is. It seems there was an up charge for everything for example, there is an extra charge for WiFi and they wanted $15 extra to secure a specific site. I generally knew what KOAs are about before booking the site but this was the only campground available in the area on the specific dates I was looking for so I didn’t really have another choice. Way over priced in my opinion. Paid about $55 (with tax and fees) for our little patch of grass with water and electric only. I let them pick my site instead of paying extra to secure the spot i wanted. We have a 22ft class B. Luckily the showers are free and clean, and that’s really all I needed for our two-day visit to North Cascades. Some sites have really great shade but ours, site 57, did not during the heat of the day. Cell service for Verizon was good, not great, but could still stream Netflix after buffering a little while. Our neighbors were really friendly and quiet, however I caught the “dad” sneaking off into the woods directly in front of our site to dump his portable septic tank! I couldn’t believe my eyes. Not once, but twice he did this! I’d had enough at this point and said I wouldn’t be back to any KOA if I didn’t have to. My impression is that generally those who book KOAs have no idea about camping (which is fine, I know everyone starts somewhere) and don’t know campground etiquette. Again, it’s just not my cup of tea but I can see how all the amenities, such as the pool, playground, bouncy blob, etc, would be fun for families or beginners.
Jul 29, 2022 · LaurenSadly due to short staffing, we waited to be checked in for an hour. Check in was at 12 but didn't get to go through the gate until 1 since that's when the Ranger showed up. (We were 3rd in line) Not really the Rangers fault since there's only 1 to 2 Rangers there at a time, but it was kinda annoying. The bathrooms were kinda dirty too. 2 of the 4 shower heads were pointed out so when you turned them on, you would get wet, and without being able to point them down it became a challenge to shower. The drains were full of hair too, one shower would drain so slow that a puddle would appear due to a giant hair clog. Had to stop my little from pulling it out since the drain covers can easily come out. Ewwww... (Although with short staffing probably didn't help since they don't have enough hours in the day to clean it) The floors outside the shower didn't have any rubber mats so after you take your shower you had to step into your shoes otherwise your feet would be covered in dirt. The store was closed most of the days we were there (open Sunday, but closed M-W) not sure if that's normal or if it was due to short staffing. But other than the bathrooms and waiting forever to get checked in, we had fun. They have a great pool, a wonderful playground which my littles loved and there was a pathway to a creek. Theres even miniature golf! Sadly it needs a little TLC but my littles didn't mind that it needed work and had fun trying to play.
