The enduring popularity of Dexter Park Campground is evident in the heartfelt review from a long-time visitor who shares a multi-generational appreciation for the location. The fact that their parents and grandparents also loved this campground speaks volumes about its consistent appeal and the positive experiences it has offered over the years. This legacy suggests a well-maintained and thoughtfully managed facility that has stood the test of time as a preferred local camping destination.
One of the key highlights mentioned by the reviewer is the presence of a park within the campground area. This feature adds significant value, especially for families with children, providing dedicated space for recreation, play, and enjoying the outdoors beyond the campsite itself. The combination of a campground and a park offers a balanced experience, catering to both relaxation and active pursuits.
The positive feedback extends to the campgrounds themselves, described as "nice." While specific details about campsite sizes or layouts aren't provided, the general endorsement suggests well-maintained areas suitable for various camping setups, from tents to RVs. The availability of a "place for showers" is another crucial amenity that enhances the comfort and convenience of the camping experience, particularly for longer stays.
For those looking to cool off during their camping trip, Dexter Park Campground offers a "little area for swimming." While one reviewer noted it wasn't their "favorite place to swim," they also acknowledged that it's "better than nothing," indicating the presence of a water feature suitable for a refreshing dip. This is a valuable amenity, especially during the warmer months, providing a welcome opportunity for aquatic enjoyment.
Another enthusiastic review highlights a "great experience" and specifically praises the "easy to reserve online" system, which is described as a "huge plus with photos of the site." This modern convenience streamlines the booking process, allowing potential campers to view available sites and secure their reservations with ease. The inclusion of site photos further enhances the online experience, providing a visual representation of what to expect and aiding in the selection of the perfect campsite.
The reviewer also commends the "nice size sites," suggesting that campers can expect ample space for their setups and outdoor activities around their individual camping areas. Furthermore, Dexter Park Campground boasts "plenty of things to do," catering to a wide range of interests. The specific activities mentioned include "fishing, hiking trails, boating, swimming at the beach, and more." This diverse array of recreational opportunities ensures that there's something for everyone to enjoy, from leisurely pursuits to more active adventures.
The presence of "fishing" indicates access to a body of water suitable for angling, appealing to those who enjoy this relaxing and rewarding activity. "Hiking trails" suggest opportunities to explore the natural surroundings on foot, allowing campers to immerse themselves in the local scenery and enjoy some exercise. "Boating" further emphasizes the presence of a lake or river accessible for watercraft, offering another dimension to the outdoor experience.
The mention of "swimming at the beach" suggests a designated and potentially more expansive area for swimming compared to the "little area for swimming" mentioned by the other reviewer. This indicates that Dexter Park Campground caters to different swimming preferences, offering both a smaller, perhaps more casual spot and a beach area that might be more suitable for families and those seeking a traditional beach experience.
In conclusion, Dexter Park Campground offers a well-rounded and highly regarded "camping near me" experience in Pittsville, WI. Its long-standing reputation, coupled with positive reviews highlighting clean facilities, a park area, showers, swimming options, and a user-friendly online reservation system with site photos, makes it an attractive choice for local campers. The abundance of activities, including fishing, hiking trails, boating, and swimming at the beach, ensures that visitors of all ages and interests will find engaging ways to spend their time outdoors. For those seeking a campground with a proven track record of providing enjoyable and memorable camping experiences, Dexter Park Campground is definitely a destination worth exploring.

Dexter Park Campground Reviews
I’ve gone here for many years. I’ve always enjoyed it. There’s a park, the campgrounds are nice, there’s a place for showers too. There is a little area for swimming but it’s not my favorite place to swim but it’s better than nothing. This is a really nice place to camp. I even remember my parents and grandparents telling me about how much they love this campground
