Dry Creek Group Campground Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" in the French Gulch, California area, particularly a location suitable for group camping with unique environmental features? Dry Creek Group Campground, situated on S Shore Dr, French Gulch, CA 96033, USA, offers a distinctive camping experience. You can reach them at (530) 242-3412 or their mobile number +1 530-242-3412 for reservations, which are explicitly stated as required.
Based on the available customer reviews, Dry Creek Group Campground boasts a remarkable environment. One reviewer noted its location on a "private peninsula," which suggests a secluded and potentially scenic setting surrounded by water on multiple sides. This unique geographical feature could offer enhanced privacy, stunning views of the surrounding lake, and direct access to the waterfront. The allure of camping on a peninsula is often the feeling of being immersed in nature with water as a prominent element of the landscape.
Another significant environmental aspect mentioned is the campground's proximity to a lake, offering opportunities for recreational activities. One reviewer explicitly suggested heading to the lake for "fish or swim," indicating that the water body is suitable for these activities, particularly noting that the "water is warmer now" during their three-day stay. This lake access is a major feature for those who enjoy water-based recreation as part of their camping experience.
However, one reviewer with a self-contained RV noted a potential environmental limitation: "not much shade." This suggests that while the location might be beautiful, some campsites, particularly those suitable for RVs, may lack significant tree cover, potentially leading to a need for air conditioning during warmer periods. This is an important consideration for campers, especially those traveling in the summer months, who prefer shaded campsites for comfort.
In terms of services and features, the reviews provide some valuable insights. One key feature mentioned is "ample parking for your vehicle" near each campsite. This is a significant convenience for campers, allowing for easy access to their vehicles and the ability to keep belongings readily accessible. Another crucial feature highlighted is the provision of "bear safe containers to store your food." This indicates an awareness of the local wildlife and a commitment to ensuring the safety of both campers and animals by promoting proper food storage practices to prevent bear encounters.
The name "Dry Creek Group Campground" itself suggests that the facility is primarily designed to accommodate groups. One reviewer explicitly stated, "groups are welcome," reinforcing this understanding. Group campgrounds often offer larger campsites or designated areas that can accommodate multiple tents or RVs and provide space for group activities. The requirement for reservations further supports the likelihood that this campground is popular among groups and that securing a spot in advance is essential.
One reviewer specifically mentioned "Parking for self contained RVs," confirming that the campground can accommodate RVs. However, as noted earlier, these RV sites may have limited shade. The reference to using air conditioning "a lot" during a three-day stay suggests that campers with RVs should be prepared for potentially sunny conditions and the need for climate control.

The campground is clearly geared towards accommodating groups and provides practical features such as ample parking and bear safe food storage. In conclusion, Dry Creek Group Campground in French Gulch, California, presents a compelling option for those seeking a group-oriented camping experience in a unique private peninsula location with lake access for fishing and swimming. Jul 11, 2019 · Judy CaveHuge campsites, I think each one fits 40-80 tents. Make reservations early. Super nice with no RVs and no generator's allowed.
Jul 10, 2019 · matt morrisSuper big camp spot, place to launch a boat right from the camp spot. Only two camp spots are available, and the bathrooms are ok. They are clean, but the smell is pretty bad. They close the gates and lock it to the property. Lots of trees for shade.
