Eastern Lake Campground 1 Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" in the Santa Rosa Beach, Florida area? Eastern Lake Campground 1, located in Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459, USA, offers a local option for those looking to experience the outdoors. Based on recent feedback from campers, it's important to note that there are conflicting reports regarding the campground's current operational status. One review explicitly states that "Both 1n2 Campgrounds r closed n locked So don't waste your time or money." This user expressed significant frustration, having driven two hours to the location only to find it closed and locked, emphasizing that the campgrounds do not take reservations. This resulted in wasted time and fuel, leading to a highly negative sentiment.
Conversely, another reviewer shared a much more positive experience, indicating they "Had a blast" while camping. This individual mentioned taking two people for their first camping experience, enjoying cooking on a grill and using a fire pit. They also helpfully posted a map to assist others with navigation and advised fellow campers to "Plan for bears," suggesting the presence of wildlife in the area. This reviewer described the location as "Very Peaceful and dark spot for watching 🌟," highlighting the potential for a tranquil environment and stargazing opportunities.
Given these contrasting reviews, it's crucial for local users considering "camping near me" at Eastern Lake Campground 1 to be aware of the uncertainty surrounding its current operation. The negative review strongly suggests a potential closure or inaccessibility, which could lead to a wasted trip. On the other hand, the positive review paints a picture of an enjoyable camping experience with opportunities for grilling, campfires, and stargazing in a peaceful setting where wildlife precautions (like planning for bears) are necessary.
For local users exploring "camping near me," Eastern Lake Campground 1's environment, based on the positive review, seems to offer a natural and potentially secluded experience. The mention of a "dark spot for watching stars" implies minimal light pollution, which is often desirable for those seeking a more immersive outdoor experience. The ability to use a grill and fire pit suggests that the campground may provide basic amenities for cooking and campfires, enhancing the traditional camping feel. The advice to "Plan for bears" indicates that the area is likely within or adjacent to bear habitat, which, while requiring campers to take appropriate safety measures, also points to a relatively natural and perhaps less developed setting.
Regarding services and features, the information is limited. The positive review implies the availability of space for setting up camp, areas suitable for grilling and campfires, and an environment conducive to peacefulness and stargazing. The act of one user posting a map suggests that the campground might be somewhat remote or have a layout that could benefit from navigational assistance. However, the negative review's mention of the campground not taking reservations implies a first-come, first-served system, if and when it is open. There is no information provided about typical campground amenities such as restrooms, water sources, or electrical hookups.
Considering promotional information, there isn't any explicitly provided. The positive review serves as an indirect positive endorsement of a past experience, highlighting the fun had during a first-time camping trip for some individuals. The negative review, however, acts as a strong deterrent, warning potential visitors about a possible closure. Therefore, local users interested in "camping near me" at this location should exercise caution and perhaps try to find more up-to-date information regarding its operational status before making any plans.
For local campers in the Santa Rosa Beach area, Eastern Lake Campground 1 presents a mixed prospect. If it is indeed open and accessible, it seems to offer a potentially peaceful natural environment suitable for traditional camping activities like grilling and campfires, with good conditions for stargazing. However, the strong warning from another user about the campground being closed and locked cannot be ignored. This discrepancy makes it difficult to provide a definitive introduction without further clarification on the current status of the campground.
If you are a local user looking for "camping near me" and are drawn to the idea of a peaceful, potentially secluded spot with opportunities for campfires and stargazing, Eastern Lake Campground 1 might have appeal, *if it is currently open*. Given the serious concern raised in one of the reviews about its closure, it would be highly advisable to seek additional information from local sources or official channels before attempting to visit. There is no phone number provided in the information, which makes it more challenging to verify the current status directly.
In conclusion, for those seeking "camping near me" near Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Eastern Lake Campground 1 has received contrasting feedback. One past visitor enjoyed a peaceful experience with campfires and stargazing, while another reported finding both Campground 1 and 2 closed and locked. Without a way to verify the current operational status from the provided information, local users should proceed with caution and attempt to confirm whether the campground is currently open before planning a trip. If open, it may offer a pleasant, nature-oriented camping experience. If closed, alternative "camping near me" options in the area would need to be explored.
Given the limited and conflicting information, it's impossible to provide a comprehensive introduction covering all aspects of the environment, services, and features with certainty about the present situation. The positive review suggests a natural setting conducive to a traditional camping experience, while the negative review raises serious doubts about accessibility. Local users searching for "camping near me" should prioritize finding current information about the campground's operational status before considering it as an option.

Jan 15, 2025 · KennethHad a blast. Got to take these two for their first camping experience. We got to chef it up on the grill and fire pit.Posted a map for helping others navigate with ease.Plan for bears. Very Peaceful and dark spot for watching 🌟
Sep 03, 2023 · BUSH JUMPINGExcellent primitive campground. Wonderful to find a campground that's inexpensive! Beautiful area. There is a hiking trail at the end of the campground road. It leads to a cypress swamp, among other things. Lovely views. We had an excellent trip.
Feb 22, 2023 · Jessica ScofieldDON'T FOLLOW GOOGLE MAPS DIRECTIONS to get here! Instead search the Point Washington Field Office address and head that way. The entrance road into the Forest to access both Camp Ground 1 & 2 is directly across the road from the Field Office. The road had pretty good sized deep puddles to get to the campsites. If you camp here after a hard rain, good luck with only 2 wheel drive. The reason I gave this campsite a 4 star was because of the lacking signs along the 2 mile dirt road trip get to the campsite. There's lots of little roads along the way and it's unclear which ones to take. However the Campsite itself was great. Very quiet and no thru traffic driving in because of the remote location. New vault bathroom and at night you can hear the waves from the Gulf, very peaceful.Lots of shade and trees, we had 2 hammocks and had no problem hanging them.
Apr 22, 2022 · FallonFindsGreat place to ride bikes. Multiple routes to choose from. it has combination of single track and twin track paths, mostly firm sand. Did not find the mudhole the other fella got stuck in, tho.Escape the crowds here.
