Eastern Lake Campground 2

Camped here early October with my family. We had no issues with the roads and followed directions sent via email vs using GSP. Campground 2 is lovely. We were at site 4, which is by far the largest of the four sites there. Plenty of trees to hang hammocks and get organized, and you’re more secluded from the other sites. 1-3 are closer to the water, but honestly the view from 4 is slightly elevated (still gorgeous) with full shade. You park and the campsite is a very short walk, but you can’t pull into the sites so this is something to note if you need direct access to your car while camping. If you need to drive up, I recommend Camgound 1, however those sites don’t have any view of the water (but the sites are spaced out well and still very beautiful btw). Campsite 2 is less quiet since it’s directly across the water from Old Florida Fish House and it was Fall Break. Wasn’t a big deal to us, but if you have an issue with that, I suggest Campground 1. It was also Fall Break while we camped so busier all around on 30A, versus other times of the year. Still extremely peaceful and serene, especially in the mornings.During our stay we took paddleboards all over Eastern Lake, directly over to the Gulf. We also swam near the little floating dock right by the campsites. It’s so beautiful there and as 30A locals this place is truly a little mini vacation away from home. If you love being on the water or fishing, Campsite 2 is for you! Again, site 4 is our recommendation for most privacy and all around layout. - Sarah Beth Novak

Eastern Lake Campground 2 Introduce

For local residents and visitors to the 30A area in Florida searching for a unique waterfront camping experience under the category "camping near me," Eastern Lake Campground 2, located at 100 N Lake Dr, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459, USA, offers a picturesque setting on Eastern Lake. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground presents a blend of natural beauty and some logistical considerations that potential campers should be aware of when planning their visit.

While a direct phone number for Eastern Lake Campground 2 isn't provided in the reviews, the address should be sufficient for locating the campground through online search engines or mapping services, where contact information might be available through the managing authority, such as the local county or parks and recreation department. It's advisable to seek out this contact information to inquire about reservations, specific site details, and any current regulations or advisories.

The environment of Eastern Lake Campground 2 is consistently described as lovely and beautiful, particularly for those who appreciate waterfront access. Situated directly on Eastern Lake, the campground offers opportunities for water activities such as paddleboarding and swimming. One reviewer mentioned paddling from the lake directly to the Gulf, highlighting the unique connectivity of this location. The presence of a small floating dock near the campsites further enhances the accessibility to the water for swimming and potentially fishing. The campground also boasts plenty of trees, providing shade and opportunities for hanging hammocks, contributing to a relaxed and natural atmosphere.

In terms of services and features, Eastern Lake Campground 2 appears to offer a more primitive camping experience with some basic amenities. One key feature mentioned is the availability of four distinct campsites. Site 4 is noted as being the largest and more secluded, offering greater privacy and ample space for setting up camp. It also benefits from full shade and a slightly elevated view of the lake, which is still described as gorgeous. Sites 1-3 are closer to the water, which might be preferable for those prioritizing immediate lake access. A vault toilet is available, serving all four campsites. However, one reviewer noted the presence of 6 to 8 inches of pea gravel around the toilet area, which could pose a challenge for wheeled carts or individuals with mobility issues.

A significant feature to be aware of is the limited vehicle access to the campsites. Reviewers explicitly mention that you cannot pull directly into the sites. Instead, there is a parking area from which campers are expected to carry their gear to their chosen site, with distances potentially reaching several hundred feet. This is a crucial consideration for individuals with mobility challenges or those carrying a significant amount of equipment. Campground 1 is suggested as an alternative if direct vehicle access to the campsite is required, although it's noted that those sites do not offer a view of the water.

One reviewer pointed out a discrepancy regarding the site description, specifically for Site 3, which was listed as a pull-through site with driveway dimensions. Upon arrival, they found that all sites were behind a fence, requiring campers to carry their gear a considerable distance. This inaccuracy in the site description caused significant issues for disabled campers who had booked Site 3 based on the provided information. This highlights the importance of verifying site details directly with the campground management before booking, especially if accessibility is a concern.

Another environmental factor to consider is the potential for noise. Campground 2 is located directly across the water from Old Florida Fish House, a potentially lively establishment. During peak seasons, such as Fall Break (mentioned by a reviewer), noise levels might be higher than at other times. For those prioritizing a quiet and serene camping experience, Campground 1 might be a better option, as it is noted to be less noisy.

A safety concern was raised by the presence of "bear hunters in area" warning signs. This might be a seasonal issue or a general advisory for the region. Campers should be aware of such warnings and take necessary precautions, especially if camping with pets, as one reviewer expressed concern about loose hunting dogs in the area.

Regarding promotional information, the natural beauty and waterfront location of Eastern Lake Campground 2 are its primary draws. For local users seeking a "mini vacation away from home" with opportunities for water activities and a scenic environment, this campground offers a unique appeal. The availability of larger, more secluded sites like Site 4 could be a promotional point for those valuing privacy. However, the logistical challenges related to vehicle access and the potential for noise need to be considered alongside these positive aspects.

In conclusion, Eastern Lake Campground 2 near Santa Rosa Beach, FL, provides a beautiful waterfront camping experience on Eastern Lake, ideal for those who enjoy swimming, paddleboarding, and fishing. While the natural environment and lake access are significant features, potential campers must be aware of the limited vehicle access to the campsites, requiring carrying gear from a parking area. Recent feedback indicates inaccuracies in site descriptions, particularly regarding pull-through access. Noise from a nearby establishment might be a factor during peak seasons. Local users searching under "camping near me" for a waterfront getaway should weigh these considerations and, if possible, directly contact the campground management for detailed site information and current conditions before making a reservation to ensure it meets their needs and abilities.
