Hide - A- Way Cove Family Campground Introduce
For local users exploring "camping near me" in the East Killingly, Connecticut area, Hide - A- Way Cove Family Campground, located at 1060 North Road, East Killingly, CT 06243, presents itself as a family-oriented option. They can be reached at (860) 774-1128 or +1 860-774-1128. However, recent customer reviews offer contrasting perspectives, which local campers should carefully evaluate to determine if this campground meets their needs.
The environment of Hide - A- Way Cove Family Campground appears to be centered around a lake. One reviewer expresses disappointment, describing the lake as "overwhelmed with weeds and grass." This could significantly impact activities such as swimming or boating and detract from the aesthetic appeal for those seeking a lakeside camping experience within the "camping near me" category. In contrast, another reviewer mentions enjoying their time at the campground, suggesting that the environment might still hold appeal for some, particularly those focused on the community and affordability rather than pristine lake conditions. The overall setting is likely a wooded area typical of Connecticut, offering shade and a natural camping ambiance. However, the specific condition of the lake is a crucial environmental factor to consider.
The services at Hide - A- Way Cove Family Campground receive mixed reviews. One critical review highlights issues such as a lack of preparedness for reservations, with the staff seemingly unaware of an incoming guest. This reviewer also noted that only the bathrooms were open, and these were in poor condition with "dirty floors cracked toilets and sinks." Additionally, they mentioned a charge of 25 cents for a hot water shower and the unavailability of advertised amenities like a rec hall, pool, and activities due to COVID-19 restrictions at the time of their stay. The limited availability of recreational equipment was also noted, with only one canoe and no paddles. This reviewer felt they were charged full price despite the reduced services. Conversely, a more positive review describes the campground as "no frills" yet having "everything you need." This reviewer specifically praises the affordability of seasonal sites and the inclusion of mowing services. They also highlight the respectful and quiet nature of the other campers and the approachability of the owners. The pool is mentioned as being kept clean, although occasional unruly children are noted, which is considered normal. For local users searching "camping near me," it's evident that the service experience at Hide - A- Way Cove Family Campground can vary, and the timing of visits (especially in relation to potential amenity closures) might be a significant factor.
The features of Hide - A- Way Cove Family Campground are somewhat contradictory based on the reviews. The presence of a lake is a primary feature, although its condition with weeds and grass might deter some visitors looking for water activities. The availability of seasonal sites at an affordable cost is a significant feature for those seeking a longer-term camping option within the "camping near me" vicinity. The sense of community, with long-term campers and respectful neighbors, is another positive feature highlighted by one reviewer. The clean pool (with the caveat of occasional boisterous children) is also mentioned as an amenity. However, the lack of a rec hall, pool, and activities (at least during the time of one review due to COVID-19) and the limited recreational equipment (one canoe with no paddles) are notable drawbacks. The availability of only bathrooms (in poor condition, according to one review) and the pay-per-use hot water shower are also important features to consider. The mowing service included with seasonal sites is a definite benefit for long-term residents. For local users weighing their options for "camping near me," the features of Hide - A- Way Cove Family Campground present a mixed bag, with affordability and community seeming to be strong points for some, while the condition of the lake and certain facilities are concerns raised by others.
Currently, there is no specific information provided regarding promotional offers for Hide - A- Way Cove Family Campground. Local users interested in potential discounts, especially for seasonal sites or longer stays, would need to contact the campground directly at the provided phone numbers. It's possible they might offer off-season rates or special packages, particularly if they are looking to attract more visitors given some of the negative feedback regarding the facilities. For those in the "camping near me" area, inquiring about any local resident discounts could also be beneficial. Given the contrasting reviews, it would be wise to ask about the current status of amenities (pool, activities, etc.) and the condition of the lake when inquiring about promotions or making a reservation.
In conclusion, Hide - A- Way Cove Family Campground in East Killingly, CT, offers an affordable option, particularly for seasonal campers, and fosters a sense of community. However, local users searching within the "camping near me" category should be aware of the conflicting recent reviews. Concerns have been raised regarding the condition of the lake, the cleanliness and functionality of the bathrooms, the availability of amenities, and even the reservation process. On the other hand, some long-term campers appreciate the affordability and the friendly atmosphere. Potential visitors should weigh these contrasting experiences carefully. It is strongly recommended to contact the campground directly to get the most up-to-date information on the condition of the facilities, the availability of amenities, and any current promotional offers before making a decision. Visiting the campground in person, if feasible, might also provide valuable insight to help local campers determine if Hide - A- Way Cove Family Campground is the right choice for their needs.

Jun 22, 2020 · D PhimWe really love it here. It is a no frills campground, yet has everything you need. The cost of a seasonal site is so affordable. They mow for you as well. Everyone is respectful & quite when they need to be. The owners are easy to approach. People have stayed for years upon years here. They pool is kept clean although you might get an occasional mouthy kiddo. Where don't you really?

Jul 15, 2019 · R MIf I could put less than one star I would. Do not come here. It is a dump. The campers look like they have been here since 1970. Shacks built next to them are falling apart with tarps covering them. People are rude...music blaring, dogs barking excessively, burning plastic and trash, etc. The pool area had music playing with nasty language not suitable for families. The lake is a field. Shall I go on???? Do yourself a favor and skip this one.
