Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park Campground Reviews
Stayed in a yurt, lived it. The heater didn't work, so that sucked (as I have raynauds). Other than that it was an enjoyable trip.
Apr 04, 2025 · sarah rugh-This was my first visit to this very large, and busy campground. It was a beautiful state park with many trails and waterways and much more to do then camp!. Despite the campsites being fairly small and close together, I found a spot backed up to a forested area, providing a nice space to take my dogs exploring. I opted for the east side farthest away from the dunes and ATVs, but enjoyed driving to the dunes to watch them roar by. There is also a great birding area on the drive out to the south jetty and numerous access points directly to the beach.-The day-use area was a pleasant surprise, offering a lodge-type gathering building and outdoor patio with picnic tables right on the lake. There was also a fishing dock, kayak and boat rentals, swimming area, and sand board rentals. Something for everybody! While the proximity to Highway 101 and lack of privacy were drawbacks, the overall atmosphere of the campground was enjoyable, with a summer camp-like vibe that would be perfect for a family or group visit. I also appreciated the amenities of Oregon State Campgrounds as they are usually very well kept, have firewood available and have large bathrooms with hot showers and flush toilets.-Despite the sometimes cramped sites and flurry of activity, I found the experience to be a fun change from my typical quiet nature get-a-way and I look forward to bringing my grandkids next time to do more then just camp!
Jul 27, 2024 · ThereseBizThis was one of cleanest and most well maintained campgrounds I have ever stayed in. It is packed and was pretty busy most of our stay. We rented a yurt which I think is the way to go if you don’t have an RV, gives you a bit more privacy. Lots to do and see at the campsite and the surrounding areas including trails, dunes, swimming, and kayaking. The campground is patrolled by rangers and volunteers non stop, but they didn’t seem to be prohibiting people from enjoying themselves. I appreciated how secure the site was.
Aug 19, 2024 · Katie FerrisThis park is huge!! 416 sites!! Some of the campsites are small and would not be good for larger tents. I love all the bathrooms and showers!! We went to the amphitheater 2 nights for presentations about owls and whales. There is dune access on H loop part of the year. Staff were amazing!!!! Lots of things to do here! Sand boarding, pedal boats, etc at the lake. Swimming as well. There is a fun center down the road and we had a blast! Bumper boats, go carts and mini golf. Also dune tours on huge ATVs. Be sure ro pick your site accordingly as some are not good for trailers and not good for tents. Campsite photos is a great website to check out pics.
Aug 21, 2023 · Adrianne Crabtree-VeitchThe park was beautiful and had lots of great trails to explore. The smaller lake was warm enough that many people were swimming. There were also great hidden places to find if you wanted to go exploring. Our camping spot was nice and fit our 36ft. RV well. The only downside was that we had neighbors with yappy dogs. We had heard that the dune vehicles could make the area very noisy but were not bothered at all. Overall it was a beautiful park that we would love to come back to.
