Mica Bay Boater Park Introduce
Looking for a distinctive camping experience that truly gets you away from it all? Mica Bay Boater Park, nestled at 8866 S Loffs Bay Rd, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814, USA, offers a unique opportunity for local users searching under the "camping near me" category. This Bureau of Land Management fee park provides a secluded and tranquil environment for those willing to venture slightly off the beaten path. Unlike traditional campgrounds with vehicular access, Mica Bay Boater Park is exclusively accessible by boat or on foot, promising a truly immersive natural escape.
The environment surrounding Mica Bay Boater Park is characterized by its natural beauty and direct access to the pristine waters of Coeur d'Alene Lake. As indicated by visitor reviews, the park is a "good place to go swimming," suggesting clean and inviting waters for aquatic activities. The seclusion of the location means that it is "normally isn't super crowded," offering a welcome respite from more bustling recreational areas. While one review mentions the occasional presence of "Goose poop that may need to be cleaned up," this seems to be a minor and potentially transient issue in a natural lakeside environment. The presence of a "boat dock" is a significant feature, providing a convenient point for boaters to load and unload, and for those arriving by water to access the campground.
Currently, as of 2020, the park benefits from the dedication of volunteer hosts, Tim and Jan, who have expressed their commitment to keeping the area "nice and tidy for visitors." Their presence adds a personal touch and a sense of care to the campground. As a fee park managed by the Bureau of Land Management, the cost is $10.00 per night, which includes a tent site and/or boat parking at the dock. This affordable fee provides access to a unique camping experience in a beautiful location.
In terms of services and facilities, Mica Bay Boater Park offers essential amenities for a comfortable, albeit rustic, camping experience. The presence of "2 vault toilets that we strive to keep clean" is a crucial service, and the volunteer hosts encourage visitors to help maintain their cleanliness by keeping lids and doors closed to aid odor control. It is important to note that Mica Bay Boater Park operates on a "Pack it in, pack it out!" policy, as "there is NO trash facilities here." This emphasizes the need for visitors to be responsible for their waste and leave no trace behind, contributing to the preservation of the park's natural beauty.
The standout feature of Mica Bay Boater Park is undoubtedly its accessibility – or rather, the lack thereof by vehicle. Being a "boat-in or walk-in only" campground significantly contributes to its secluded and peaceful atmosphere. This unique feature ensures a level of tranquility that is often hard to find in more easily accessible camping locations. For those with boats, the direct lake access and boat dock are invaluable, allowing for seamless integration of boating and camping activities. For those opting to walk in, the slight effort required to reach the campground likely rewards them with a more private and serene camping experience.

The presence of vault toilets and the dedicated efforts of volunteer hosts contribute to a more comfortable stay. Mica Bay Boater Park Reviews
This is a good place to go swimming. It is secluded and you may have a walk a little to get here but it normally isn't super crowded. There is sometimes Goose poop that may need to be cleaned up. There is a boat dock so if you have a boat, you can park it to load or unload.

Aug 14, 2020 · tim kReally nice park but the hosts are awful. They didn't have any firewood available so we tried to bring some in and they yelled at the person who we had show up, who is just a little old woman by the way and she never said anything to them to prompt the yelling. When she explained why she was there they continued to snap at her even though she was very nice to them. I knocked on the door to the host's camper at one point to ask them a question about when they would get any firewood back and they spoke to me in a very condescending tone, treated me like I was stupid, did not answer my question, just kept pointing at the empty firewood area telling me it was out. If it wasn't for the awful hosts I'd come here more but they were so mean I wouldn't recommend it at this point unless you like being yelled at for just existing.
Aug 05, 2023 · PewdiepieeeSuch a great campground!! Loved the complimentary paddle boat. Had the time of our lives. A elk even came and visited!
Jul 15, 2024 · Tannie WichernCamped during a warm April weekend. Had the entire place to ourselves overnight, with some day-users fishing off the dock or just making a pit-stop with their boat. We brought a wagon to help carry stuff in/out. In Spring the water level of the lake is pretty low, so the beach was mud, but it's not like we were going to swim anyway. Beautiful morning with mist rising from the water, Canadian geese honking, drinking coffee on the dock. My least favorite part was quite a bit of goose poop all over the grounds. You just kind of get used to it after a while because it's unavoidable.
