Patrick Creek Campground Introduce
For local outdoor enthusiasts seeking "camping near me" in the scenic Gasquet, California region, Patrick Creek Campground, located at Gasquet, CA 95543, USA, offers a promising option nestled along Patrick Creek, with convenient access to the renowned Smith River area. Sharing the same contact phone numbers as Grassy Flat Campground ((707) 457-3131 and +1 707-457-3131), Patrick Creek Campground presents a slightly different set of features and environmental considerations, as highlighted by recent visitor reviews.
One of the standout features of Patrick Creek Campground, according to multiple reviews, is its proximity to excellent swimming opportunities. The area of the Smith River near the campground is described as "very nice for swimming," suggesting clean and inviting waters. Additionally, the creek itself, Patrick Creek, is noted to have an "awesome swimming hole," which is a significant draw for visitors looking to cool off and enjoy water recreation. The presence of such appealing swimming spots makes Patrick Creek Campground a potentially ideal destination for families and individuals seeking aquatic adventures during their camping trip.
Accessibility to the swimming hole on Patrick Creek appears to vary depending on the campsite. One reviewer advises fellow campers to "make sure to pick the lucky site for easy access down," implying that some sites offer a more direct and less challenging path to the creek and its swimming hole. This suggests that when making reservations or upon arrival, it might be beneficial to inquire about sites with better access to the water, especially for those with mobility concerns or families with young children.
The overall maintenance of the campground is positively mentioned, with reviewers noting that the "bathrooms are well maintained" and that "everything was clean." Clean and well-kept facilities contribute significantly to a comfortable and enjoyable camping experience, indicating that the campground management prioritizes hygiene and upkeep. This is a notable advantage for those who value cleanliness during their outdoor stays.
Convenience is another highlighted aspect of Patrick Creek Campground. Its location "right off the road" offers easy access, which can be particularly appealing for campers who prefer not to navigate long or winding access roads with their vehicles and gear. This accessibility makes it a straightforward destination to reach. Furthermore, the campsites themselves are described as being "spaced well" and having "plenty of room," suggesting that campers can enjoy a degree of privacy and ample space for setting up their tents or small RVs and enjoying outdoor living.
However, like many campgrounds in natural settings, Patrick Creek Campground has some environmental factors to consider. One reviewer mentions a "predictable mosquito problem," indicating that visitors should come prepared with insect repellent, especially during warmer months or times of higher mosquito activity. Being aware of this potential issue allows campers to take necessary precautions to ensure a more comfortable stay.
Another predictable environmental factor mentioned is "road noise." Given its location right off the road, some level of traffic sound is to be expected. While one reviewer simply notes its predictability, others might find the noise more or less disruptive depending on their sensitivity and the specific location of their campsite within the campground. Campers seeking absolute silence might prefer sites further away from the main road, if such options exist.
Beyond swimming in Patrick Creek, the campground also provides convenient access to the wider Smith River area, which is described as "very nice for swimming and exploring." The Smith River is renowned for its clear waters and scenic beauty, offering opportunities for various recreational activities beyond just swimming, such as hiking along its banks, exploring its unique flora and fauna, and potentially fishing (though not explicitly mentioned in the reviews). The campground's location serves as a gateway to these broader outdoor experiences in the Smith River region.
Considering the positive aspects highlighted in the reviews, Patrick Creek Campground offers a combination of a great swimming hole on the creek, convenient access, clean and well-maintained facilities, and proximity to the beautiful Smith River area for further exploration and recreation. The well-spaced and roomy campsites also contribute to a more comfortable and private experience for campers.
As with the other campground sharing the same phone number, there is no specific "promotional information" provided in the reviews for Patrick Creek Campground. The inherent appeal lies in its natural attractions (the swimming hole and access to the Smith River), its convenient location, and the positive feedback regarding cleanliness and campsite spacing. For local users searching for "camping near me" with a focus on swimming and exploring the Smith River area, Patrick Creek Campground presents a compelling option based on the experiences of previous visitors.
To make the most of a stay at Patrick Creek Campground, it is advisable to bring insect repellent to mitigate the predictable mosquito issue. When making reservations or checking in, inquiring about campsite access to the swimming hole might help in selecting a more convenient location. Being aware of potential road noise could also influence the choice of campsite if noise sensitivity is a concern. Overall, the positive feedback regarding the swimming opportunities, cleanliness, and campsite space suggests a pleasant camping experience.
In conclusion, Patrick Creek Campground near Gasquet, California, stands out as a well-regarded option for local campers seeking "camping near me" with excellent swimming opportunities in both Patrick Creek and the nearby Smith River. The clean facilities, convenient location, and spacious campsites further enhance its appeal. While the predictable mosquito issue and road noise are factors to consider, the overall positive experiences shared by visitors, particularly regarding the water recreation and general upkeep, make Patrick Creek Campground a strong contender for a memorable outdoor getaway in the beautiful Smith River region.

Patrick Creek Campground Reviews
They have a predictable mosquito problem but the bathrooms are well maintained. There is road noise also predictable. This area of the Smith River is very nice for swimming and exploring. We had a lot of fun in the water.
Aug 12, 2022 · Kato LeeGreat campground on the creek that has a awesome swimming hole. Just make sure to pick the lucky site for easy access down. Everything was clean and conveniently located right off the road. Sites are spaced well and have plenty of room.
Jul 01, 2022 · Aaron VGreat family camp ground! Its clean, and beautiful! We had camp site 1 and although its a little of a walk to the bathroom, its a good shady spot with enough room for several tents. Plus its own trail to the river! Bring lanterns and flashlights for late night bathroom trips! The water is super clean and beautiful, but cold even at the end of july. In the high 80°F weather, that was welcomed though! Good shallow spots for kids, bring river shoes though because it is rocky. Mosquitoes were an issue at night but that's normal. There are no showers, so be prepared for that. My biggest issue was that there was no soap in either the mens or womens bathroom. But you can bring soap to use. Bathrooms were kept clean, so that's good. Camp host was very nice and told us where we could buy firewood. Spickets are scattered around with clean drinking water, and there are several well kept trails, some paved, some not. Beautiful place to walk around, just beware of poison oak. I would recommend this campsite or even the day use area! Especially for people with little ones as most of the campground has good shallow spots. There are spots that are deep though for adults!
