Santa Cruz Ranch Campground, located at 917 Disc Dr, Scotts Valley, CA 95066, USA, is a well-established RV resort and campground offering a diverse range of camping experiences. Positioned under the "Camping Near Me" category, it caters to both short-term vacationers and those seeking longer-term stays in their RVs or even tents. This detailed introduction will delve into the campground's environment, services, features, and provide relevant promotional information, drawing upon available public information and customer reviews to offer a comprehensive and objective overview.
The environment of Santa Cruz Ranch Campground is a key attraction for visitors. Nestled among the redwood trees, just minutes from Scotts Valley and Santa Cruz, the campground offers a blend of natural beauty and convenient access to coastal California attractions. Reviews frequently highlight the "beautiful tree" surroundings and being "surrounded by these beautiful redwood trees," contributing to a picturesque backdrop for outdoor adventures. The property is situated near Carbonero Creek, which winds its way past the RV park, adding to the natural ambiance. Historically, Scotts Valley has been a popular place to stay, with the campground even featuring "Indian Grinding Rocks" on its property, hinting at a rich local history. While it provides a natural setting, some reviews indicate it's "right off the highway," suggesting some level of traffic noise, and that spaces can be "a bit close," particularly for larger rigs. Despite these points, the overall vibe is often described as "friendly and welcoming." The location is also excellent for accessing the vibrant Santa Cruz area, including beaches and the famous Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
Santa Cruz Ranch Campground provides a comprehensive suite of services designed to enhance the camping experience. It offers a total of 117 sites, including RV sites with full hookups (electric, water, and sewer), with options for 30-amp service, and some pull-through sites that can accommodate rigs up to 42 feet. There are also tent sites, which are dry camping sites located close to restrooms and water. Essential amenities include "very clean restrooms, laundry, and pool with a spa," as noted by a satisfied customer. The laundry facilities are open 24/7, with quarters available from the office or via an app. Wi-Fi service is available, though some reviews mention it may be paid or limited to a free trial in certain areas, with a better connection perhaps available in the recreation room. The campground also offers a "library" and a "game room" with a ping-pong and foosball table, and a clubhouse that can be reserved for large groups. For pet owners, the campground is pet-friendly, though specific restrictions or fees should be clarified. Propane is available on site, and basic rules like a 5 MPH speed limit and quiet hours from 10 PM to 8 AM are in place to ensure a peaceful environment for all campers.
The features of Santa Cruz Ranch Campground cater to both active and relaxed stays. The presence of a heated swimming pool and a spa/hot tub offers excellent opportunities for relaxation and recreation. The game room and clubhouse provide indoor entertainment options, especially useful during inclement weather. For outdoor enthusiasts, the campground boasts "Nature / Hiking Trails" on-site, and the Scotts Valley/Santa Cruz area is renowned for "watersports such as sailing, diving, swimming, paddling, and surfing." The proximity to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, California's oldest amusement park, is a major feature, offering a classic seaside entertainment experience just a short drive away. Other nearby attractions include Roaring Camp Railroad and Henry Cowell State Park. The campground's ability to accommodate a range of RV sizes, including full-body slide-outs, is a practical feature for many travelers. Furthermore, the option for "Seasonal or Annual Sites" provides a "home away from home" for repeat visitors, offering guaranteed spots and a sense of community for those looking for extended stays at a discounted yearly rate.
Promotional information for Santa Cruz Ranch Campground often highlights its strategic location and extensive amenities. Marketing materials typically emphasize its position "Nestled in the trees just minutes from Scotts Valley and Santa Cruz," underscoring the balance between a natural setting and access to urban and coastal attractions. The availability of "full hookups," a "swimming pool," "laundry facilities," and a "game room" are key selling points. The campground actively promotes its connection to local watersports and landmarks like the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. For potential long-term residents, the "Seasonal or Annual Site" options are a significant draw, promising a consistent retreat. The official website and various booking platforms likely feature photos of the well-maintained facilities and scenic surroundings. Contacting the campground directly via phone at (831) 438-1288 or +1 831-438-1288 is the best way to get the most up-to-date information on rates, availability, and special offers. As a Thousand Trails property, it may also appeal to members of that network.
Customer reviews offer a mixed but generally positive perspective on Santa Cruz Ranch Campground. Many praise the "clean restrooms, laundry, and pool with a spa," indicating good maintenance of these facilities. The staff is frequently described as "extremely friendly management" and "very nice," contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. Campers appreciate the convenience for rigs with "full body slide out and to use the awning almost out fully." The "excellent location" is a consistent highlight, providing easy access to Santa Cruz. However, some common criticisms include the park being "a little dated," with "old and not very clean" recreation rooms, laundry, and bathrooms in some instances (contrasting with other reviews about cleanliness). Some visitors also found "the streets and sites to be in disrepair." The sites can be "a bit close" or "cramped," with some mentioning difficulty in leveling their RVs or parking tow vehicles. There are also notes about the park being "not quiet though, lots of kids," which might be a factor for those seeking a very serene experience. Pricing has also been a point of contention, with some finding it "very expensive" and noting additional "Resort" fees. Despite these varied experiences, the sentiment of "We love this place. We'd live here all summer if we could" from one reviewer underscores the strong appeal for many.
In summary, Santa Cruz Ranch Campground in Scotts Valley, CA, offers a robust camping experience for RVers and tent campers looking for a base to explore the Santa Cruz area. Its amenities, including a pool, laundry, and game room, coupled with its redwood setting and proximity to coastal attractions, make it an appealing choice for many. While some aspects like site proximity and pricing transparency may warrant further inquiry, the generally positive feedback on cleanliness, staff friendliness, and location suggests a valuable option for those searching for "Camping Near Me" in a vibrant California setting. Santa Cruz Ranch Campground Reviews
The campsite was a pull thru with room for the full body slide out and to use the awning almost out fully. Beautiful tree slightly blocked but we loved the place. Very clean restrooms, laundry, and pool with a spa.
Apr 10, 2025 · Sheryl BizzellWe love this place. We'd live here all summer if we could. Excellent location, extremely friendly management. It's a little dated but always comfortable. Highly recommend!
Mar 29, 2025 · Arlan MurryShareese and Leeanne were just great. The campground is very clean with a great location and a hot tub and heated pool Looking forward to going back. They even extended our stay upon request Thomas&Jodi Hummel.
Jan 07, 2025 · mark JacksonEverything is very well maintained, clean, overall a very nice park. The employees are amazing, friendly, informative. The location is great, 10 to 15 minutes away from the boardwalk. It's quiet even though it's close to a main road. The restrooms are spacious and clean, unfortunately the shower backed up the weekend I stayed but they had it up and running within hours. The clubhouse has a nice new air hockey table and is comfortable and cozy. The laundry facilities are great, lots of machines. Nice pool and hot tub, too. We will definitely be back!
Mar 15, 2024 · Krystine ManosWe stayed in our 5th wheel here for 2 weeks. The staff was absolutely top notch and so friendly. You can tell they put care into the place and kept it running smoothly. The pool and hot tub were always clean and perfect. Their bathrooms are recently renovated (or so it seems) and are phenomenal! The laundry room is huge and easy to use. And the location is quiet and perfect. 100% we will be visiting again!
