Shasta Lake RV Resort-Campground Introduce
Looking for "RV parks near me" or "camping near me" in the scenic Shasta Lake area of Northern California? Shasta Lake RV Resort-Campground, located at 20433 Lakeshore Dr, Lakehead, CA 96051, USA, offers a camping experience with potential access to Shasta Lake. You can reach them at (530) 238-2370 or +1 530-238-2370 for inquiries about reservations, availability, and specific amenities.
The environment of Shasta Lake RV Resort-Campground appears to offer a mix of natural beauty and some practical considerations. One positive aspect highlighted by a visitor was having a campsite "under a nice shade tree," which can be a significant advantage during the hot California summers. The campground is also located a "short walk across the street" from Shasta Lake, providing relatively easy access to the lake for recreational activities. Additionally, the presence of wildlife, such as a deer and her fawn making nightly visits, adds to the natural charm of the location.
However, another reviewer noted that the RV spaces can "vary wildly" in size, with some sites lacking space for an awning or a picnic table, while others in different areas had ample space. This inconsistency in site size is an important factor to consider when booking, and it would be wise to inquire about the specific dimensions and layout of your assigned site. The roads within the park are primarily gravel, and while a 5 mph speed limit is posted, some drivers reportedly go faster, stirring up dust, which could affect the air quality and overall comfort of your stay.
In terms of services and features, Shasta Lake RV Resort-Campground presents a mixed picture based on customer feedback. One positive note is that the showers were described as "HOT and clean," which is a crucial amenity for many campers. However, another reviewer found the "bathrooms / showers" to be in "ROUGH" condition, indicating potential inconsistencies in the maintenance or upkeep of these facilities. It's advisable to inquire about the current state of the restrooms and showers when booking.
A significant drawback mentioned is that the "Pool is closed indefinitely." For those looking forward to swimming as part of their camping experience, this is a crucial piece of information. The campsites themselves are described as "just dirt no gravel, sand, or grass," which could impact the cleanliness and overall feel of your site, especially during dry or wet conditions.
The electrical service appears to be limited to "30amp power only" with no 15 or 20 amp options on the pedestal, which might be a constraint for RVs requiring higher amperage or those wanting to use standard household outlets. One reviewer also noted a poorly mounted 30 amp outlet that required zip ties to keep the plug from falling out, raising concerns about the electrical infrastructure at some sites.
The layout of some campsites is described as "odd," with living spaces facing each other in the tighter spots, potentially reducing privacy between neighboring sites. This is another factor to consider when inquiring about site selection.
Pet policies seem to include a "pet deposit," although the specifics are not provided. While the campground may be pet-friendly, the mention of a deposit suggests additional costs and potentially specific rules for traveling with animals. One reviewer recounted an interaction with an employee regarding dog waste disposal in an overflow parking area far from any sites, indicating potentially strict or unclear pet waste management guidelines.
The fact that the campground "wasn't full and had many empty spaces" during a stay is noted by one reviewer, who expressed concern about potential overcrowding if the park were at full capacity, especially given the varying site sizes. This suggests that the density and spacing of campsites might be an issue when the park is more occupied.
Promotional information is limited in the provided reviews. The positive mention of friendly staff ("Joyce and Diana were as nice as could be") and the short walk to the lake could be considered promotional aspects. The wildlife sightings (deer) might also appeal to nature lovers. However, the numerous concerns raised by another reviewer regarding site conditions, facilities, and management suggest that significant improvements may be needed to actively promote the campground as a high-quality RV resort.
For local users searching for "RV parks near me" or "camping near me" near Shasta Lake, Shasta Lake RV Resort-Campground offers a location with lake access and some natural appeal (shade, wildlife). However, it is crucial to be aware of the potential downsides highlighted in the reviews, such as inconsistent site sizes, dusty gravel roads, potentially rough bathroom/shower conditions, the closed pool, dirt campsites, limited electrical options, odd site orientations, and potential pet deposit and restrictions. The contrasting experiences suggest that the quality of your stay might depend heavily on the specific campsite you are assigned and your tolerance for the noted issues.
To make an informed decision, it is strongly recommended to contact Shasta Lake RV Resort-Campground directly at (530) 238-2370 or +1 530-238-2370. When you call, be sure to ask specific questions about:
- Availability and rates for RV sites or campsites.
- The size and layout of the specific site you are considering.
- The condition of the bathrooms and showers.
- Whether the pool is currently open or if there is an estimated reopening date.
- The type and amperage of electrical hookups available at the site.
- The surface of the campsite (dirt, gravel, etc.).
- The pet policy, including any deposits or restrictions.
- The speed limit within the park and measures taken to control dust.
- The proximity and ease of access to Shasta Lake from your site.
- Any recent updates or improvements to the campground facilities.
By asking these detailed questions, you can gain a clearer understanding of the current state of Shasta Lake RV Resort-Campground and determine if it meets your needs and expectations for an "RV park near me" or a "campground near me" in the Shasta Lake area. Given the mixed reviews, thorough communication is key to ensuring a satisfactory camping experience.

Shasta Lake RV Resort-Campground Reviews
Stayed here on Memorial Day week had a great time. Our camp site was under a nice shade tree and the lake is a short walk across the street. Joyce and Diana were as nice as could be. Read some of the reviews and although this is an older RV resort it is very clean and the showers were HOT and clean. Also our nightly visit from the deer and her her little one made our day.
Jun 06, 2024 · Eileen GingerichRV spaces vary wildly ours did not have room to even put our awning out or have a picnic table yet our friends in another area had plenty of space. Many of the roads are gravel and while it says "5mph" many people go faster and stir up lots of dust. The bathrooms / showers are ROUGH. Pool is closed indefinitely. Sites are just dirt no gravel, sand, or grass. 30amp power only as far as I could see and no 15 or 20 amp on the pedestal. Our 30amp was mounted funny and we had to use zip ties to keep the plug from falling out. Many of the sites are oriented such that your living space faces eachother quite odd if your in one of the tighter spaces. Way out at the edge of the park I was walking my dogs when both were doing #2 I had a poo bag out and open in my hand waiting for them to finish when an employee told me this "wasn't really the dog poo area" for reference this area was dirt and 75ft+ from any site or building etc and is only used as overflow parking. It also seems they charge a pet deposit. The only positive I can think of is that it wasn't full and had many empty spaces can't imagine if if was full how crowded it would be. I would prefer not to return to this specific campground unless it comes under new management and gets some maintenance and repairs and updates done. I get the feeling they have been running it on a shoe string budget for 10+ years.
Jul 26, 2023 · L BGot in late 6/30/24. Hookup easy. Bathrooms clean. Getting down to lake across the street was s bit tricky. There is a pool but didn’t try it out. Staff was friendly
Jul 07, 2024 · Mer CariolaWe had a big family vacation and rented a little of everything, from RV sites, cabin and tents. I found this site because we wanted a place we could rent a slip to leave boat in water. Let's start with the boat ramp. I'd give it a 2.5. Location was perfect. Docks were alittle sketchy. We had gas cans, and rafts stolen. Only time there is security, a family member sleeps on doc from 9 p.m. to 5a.m. Hard not to leave somethings on your boat when you have been in water all day only to be back and do it again the next day. RV Park, do not go off website, it is false advertisement. No pool, laundry facility, kids evening activities. Anthony the maintenance guy very nice and kids loved him. Older lady in office, may be owner not as friendly. I didn't read reviews before I booked so I was concerned about some things prior to going. There is a train that goes right by the camp. The train really was not a big deal. Everyone in our group said it wasn't bad at all. Restroom/showers, alittle out dated, but they were kept pretty clean. All n all, would we go back to this park? Maybe so, not having the pool for as many kids that we had would have been nice, but we really enjoy our time together there. Not having the amenities that we thought we would have, really wasn't that big of a deal in the end.
