The Group Landing Introduce
For local adventurers in the Olustee, Florida region seeking a unique "camping near me" experience, The Group Landing, located at Nat'l Forest Rd 732, Olustee, FL 32072, USA, offers a seemingly private getaway nestled within a National Forest setting. With contact numbers (386) 752-2577 ext. 4509 and +1 386-752-2577 ext. 4509 available for inquiries, this location appears to cater to those desiring a more secluded and nature-immersive camping trip.
The environment surrounding The Group Landing is clearly a significant draw, being situated within a National Forest. This suggests a setting characterized by natural woodlands, diverse flora, and the potential for encountering local wildlife. One reviewer specifically mentions enjoying the experience of a bear walking through their campsite and observing an alligator at a distance, highlighting the potential for wildlife viewing. The proximity to a lake or lagoon is also evident, as one review mentions people arriving at the site by boat. This waterfront access could offer opportunities for activities such as swimming, fishing, or simply enjoying the water views. However, it's important to note a concern raised by a reviewer regarding the lack of a barrier to prevent boaters from the lake entering the campsite, suggesting that while the road access might be secured, the waterfront access might be less controlled.
The services and amenities at The Group Landing are not explicitly detailed in the provided information. However, being located within a National Forest, it's likely that the facilities are more rustic and geared towards self-sufficient campers. Typically, National Forest campgrounds offer basic amenities such as designated campsites, fire rings, and picnic tables. Access to potable water and restroom facilities might be available, but it's crucial to verify these details directly with the provided contact numbers. Given the "Group Landing" name, it's possible that the site is designed to accommodate larger groups, potentially offering more spacious camping areas or communal facilities. However, without further information, this remains speculative. Campers should be prepared for a more primitive camping experience compared to privately owned campgrounds with more extensive amenities.
The features of The Group Landing seem to revolve around its natural setting and potential for privacy. The reviewer who described it as a "great and private location" underscores this aspect. The presence of wildlife, as noted by the bear and alligator sightings, adds a unique element for nature enthusiasts. The access to a lake or lagoon is another significant feature, providing opportunities for water-related activities. However, the aforementioned issue of boaters accessing the site from the water needs to be considered by potential visitors seeking a truly private experience. The need for effective bug spray, specifically mentioning "mosquitoes with very large drill bits," is a notable feature of the environment that campers should be well-prepared for, indicating a potentially humid, natural setting where insects thrive.
The reviews provide contrasting perspectives on the privacy aspect. While one reviewer found it to be a "private getaway" and a "repeat location," their positive experience was tempered by the issue of boaters entering the site. This suggests that while the location itself might feel secluded, the lack of control over waterfront access could impact the sense of privacy for some campers. The mention of a "secured gate on the road" further highlights this discrepancy between land and water access. For local users prioritizing a truly undisturbed camping experience, this potential lack of complete privacy from lake access is a crucial factor to consider.
Promotional information is not included in the provided data. Local users interested in The Group Landing should contact the provided phone numbers, (386) 752-2577 ext. 4509 or +1 386-752-2577 ext. 4509, to inquire about availability, rates, group camping options, and any potential seasonal discounts or special offers. Given its location within a National Forest, reservations might be required, especially during peak camping seasons. It would also be prudent to ask about any specific regulations or guidelines for camping in the area, including information about campfires, waste disposal, and wildlife safety.
In conclusion, for local campers seeking "camping near me" with a focus on a natural and potentially private experience within a National Forest near Olustee, Florida, The Group Landing offers an intriguing option. The opportunity for wildlife encounters and lake access are significant draws. However, the reported issue of boaters entering the campsite from the water is a crucial consideration for those prioritizing complete privacy. Prospective visitors should contact the provided phone numbers to gather detailed information about amenities, reservation procedures, and any specific guidelines. Being prepared for potential insect issues is also advisable based on the customer reviews. Despite the privacy concern raised, the overall positive sentiment regarding the location suggests that The Group Landing could be a rewarding natural escape for well-prepared local campers.

The Group Landing Reviews
This was a great and private location... EXCEPT!!!...people come up from the lake on boats and walk into the site. Just like the secured gate on the road, there needs to be some sort of gate at the lagoon blocking boat access. People on the lake in boats may think that this is a public park. Otherwise, this is a repeat location for us. Just don't like strangers boating in.
Jul 19, 2023 · J WimberlyPrivate getaway. We enjoyed the bear walking through our camp and the alligator who kept his distance. Don't forget your bug spray...the mosquitoes have very large drill bits.
Aug 26, 2018 · Dwayne WilliamsReally cool that you can rent out the whole campsite for $50/ day. More than enough for a group of friends. Only a few miles from the historic Olustee battlefield. Bathroom close by, ability for electricity too.
Nov 04, 2018 · Stefanie VilendrerMy family and i where looking for somewhere out of Jacksonville in the country to spend a great camping vacation. After a little research we came across the ocean Pond Campground. With a great private area for large groups we decided to reserve it. The place is very clean and well-kept with private bathrooms and showers. Very close to the ocean Pond swimming area along with a private Waterside fire pit. The campsite is very private and very relaxing with its own boat ramp as well for those who wish to bring watercraft. This was our first time camping in the national forest and we would love to come back again anytime. Our family has decided to make the group Landing are new family tradition. Such a beautiful spot and area we will come back every year.
Aug 13, 2016 · Eli BowenThis is a great group Campground for a really great price. It's about 50 bucks a night and you can easily have 40 to 50 people there comfortably. I have gone here almost yearly for over a decade. They have made many site improvements such as fans in the Pavilion and building the concrete around the fire ring. It's wonderful being right by the water with a beautiful view and a quick swim. This location is wonderful for birthdays and reunions.
