Wassamki Springs Campground Reviews
Stayed on 10/14/24 and had a great time! The owner's wife is super friendly, the view with the lake is gorgeous, and the bathrooms/laundry are very clean. Close to nearby businesses. Quiet at night. Definitely recommend and definitely will be staying here again!!
Oct 15, 2024 · Samuel MorganTraveling in a fifth wheel and stayed a couple nights here - quiet and we had a picturesque spot by the water. Staff was friendly and helpful. Didn’t use the showers as we were located too far away from them. There was another closer but we didn’t bother as it required asking for a key. I’m sure that’s a result of one of our less respectful camper cohorts. A bit expensive considering the location as we’ve paid $20 less a night for 30 amp + sewer near major tourist areas. Was visiting a friend in Gorham so it was the closest I could find, otherwise I would have looked around. Not sorry I stayed here though.
Aug 11, 2024 · oompsta FiemsGood proximity to Portland. Clean, QUIET except that campground is in directly in airport flyover pathway. Noise was unsettling initially. Pull through was good-sized. Campground staff pleasant and accommodating.
Sep 23, 2024 · KA KFamily vacation 8/2024. We picked it based primarily on location, and distance it was from our day trips. The grounds were nice, well kept. Bathrooms were pretty clean considering. We were lucky enough that we had minimal rain one night. I mention this because I read the reviews after the fact and saw how it can flood in some sections. Thankfully we didn't experience that, however, with what little it did rain I can totally see it happening considering the large puddles from what little rain we did have. Now for our experience. Our very first night we arrived late at night. It was dark. Our post/hookup had no light whereas the others did. Our neighbor accidentally plugged into our spot so my husband plugged into his since they were side by side. No bigger right? Not going to cause a fuss over something small late at night right. So we thought. Ok, so the next day we left briefly. When coming back in I was driving my husband's truck, he in the passenger. Now we were warned right off the bat about the 5mph speed limit. So I, already nervous I'm his truck was literally riding the break, and watching my speedometer. Literally going 5-7 mph and only 7 barely when I tapped the gas to go over bumps. A older man on a bike comes flying down the street I was about to take a turn on. I saw his dust trail ,but didn't see him until he popped out in-between campers. I stopped a very good distance away. At least 50 feet away if not more because I was still on a different road but saw him around the bend when he popped out. He proceeds to ride over to me and very rudely asked what I was doing. Then after a very rude exchange tells me "this is your first warning" and then rides off. Just a few hours later we are on the playground with our kids. An elder couple drives by. Literally no one was around on the road and it was open so you could see with obstructions. They definitely weren't going 5mph but definitely not over 15. I'd say more like 12ish. Well there were a group of (clearly regulars) playing Cornhole. A woman from the group literally starts screaming at the top of her lungs while she power walked a far distance (like past where they were playing, right by us on the playground, to like 4 campers down) over to the elderly couple screaming the whole time about the speed limit. Needless to say it was super uncomfortable and so inappropriate. But the ironic part was most of them drove away and every single one of the car and golf carts all drove well over 5mph and were zipping all around. Total double standard! But it was so intense I felt so bad for the elderly couple and almost interjected just because of how intense she was. After this, I definitely took notice the week we were there and won't drive again. It definitely seems the speed limit only applies to certain people which is completely ludacris. Just wild. If your going to enforce a 5mph speed limit and threaten to kick people out over it then you do it for all especially because it is about safety right. But that is not what happened. It was very selective!!! So fast forward to our last day. The same guy who gave me my warning comes knocking on our door the last morning, ironically right after our neighbor left. He starts giving my husband a hard time over the fact he plugged into the neighbors hookup. So my husband explained what we did previously. How it was dark, late, we didn't want to fuss the neighbor who hooked into ours. Well this guy must of thought we were lieing or he is just naturally always rude and arrogant because he continued in the same fashion as when he gave me my warning. Then hilarious. As he is giving my husband a hard time, he is replacing the light that was supposed to be on our posted/neighbors. Like really 🤦♀️So as far as my review goes cleanliness and ground 4 stars. Everyone else was super nice 5 stars, EXCEPT the rent-a-cop and most of the regulars, - 5 stars. Which is unfortunate. We are already planning our next trip to Maine but I will avoid this place because the negative interactions were just too intense.
Oct 03, 2024 · TraceyThere were 4 main issues that made our stay difficult. The first piece was the dust. This was made worse by the surveillance performed by cars and golf carts several times an hour. A long time camper said some of that was do to “neighborhood watch” but honestly this surveillance created huge clouds dust which permeated into everything, not to mention breathing it. In a tent, there was no escape! No grass for transient campers, so it was a lot. If it had rained it would have been mud. This location is in Portland Airport’s flight path. So even though there is quiet hours, the takeoff and landing still occurred throughout the night.Lots of rules, which is okay ish. I understand, but the sites were not protected from each other, no foliage! Lots of doggies, which was nice, however with the dirt/dust doggies were NOT ALLOWED IN THE WATER. Someone did bring their doggies into pond, but I’m not a rule breaker, so used water wipes before getting our dog into car. He was filthy!Toilet paper in bathroom was the thinnest I’ve ever seen in my life. Difficult to get off the roll, and it fell apart in your hand! 😳 😑 plus cockroaches in the bathroom. 😬On a positive note, on Sunday mornings the fire department puts on a WONDERFUL breakfast which is made to order, inexpensive and DELICIOUS! Absolutely delicious! All in all, it was expensive and not great, especially if you are in a tent. I think their intentions are good, however as my mother would say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. 🤷🏻♀️
