The environment of Wild Duck Adult Campground & RV Park is consistently praised for its quiet and clean ambiance. Situated in a "forested area," the campground provides a natural and shaded setting, offering a respite from the sun and a sense of immersion in nature. This natural setting contributes to the overall peacefulness that guests appreciate, making it an ideal location for relaxation and unwinding.
One of the standout features of Wild Duck is its strategic location, offering the convenience of being close to both Portland and Old Orchard Beach. This accessibility to both urban and coastal attractions makes Wild Duck a versatile base for exploring the southern Maine region.
For those who enjoy water activities, Wild Duck offers the unique feature of a kayak launch directly from the campground. While one reviewer mentioned that the weather conditions (too cold and windy) prevented them from kayaking during their stay, the availability of this amenity is a significant plus for paddling enthusiasts. No screaming children is my idea of heaven." This sentiment underscores the value of a peaceful and undisturbed atmosphere for those who prioritize quiet relaxation during their camping getaway. Wild Duck Adult Campground & RV Park Reviews
A Gem of a campground! We have stayed twice. It is a very quiet and clean place, in a forested area. Nice view of the nearby marsh. We love the convenience to Portland and Old Orchard Beach. Would have loved to kayak, but it was too cold and windy. You can launch a kayak from the campground.
Oct 16, 2024 · Dave ChambersAn adults only campground is probably one of the best things I’ve come across. It was so quiet and nice there, I miss it already. No screaming children is my idea of heaven. Beautiful location. Clean and nice bathroom, laundry service was great. If I ever make my way up to Scarborough Maine again, I am definitely staying again. Also Sue at the front desk was a delight.
Aug 28, 2024 · Kira BlankenshipClean bathrooms, quiet, great location, dog friendly. We stayed for 3 nights and had a complaint from a creepy guy staying in a bum trailer close by on the first night. His complaint was our dogs were excessively barking and off leash ( which was not true at all). They barked a few times when unknown visitors came close and when they heard a firework go off. They also found the guy to be very creepy and were on edge in his presence! They are not excessive barkers and never have been! The gentleman who made us very uncomfortable rode his bike ( had no car) wore a black leather jacket in 90 degree weather, smoked cigarettes, never changed his clothing, drank all day, and stared at us from his trailer each day we were there. He never left his camper unless it was to smoke. His behavior and obsession with us was very creepy and made it hard for us to enjoy ourselves when we were in camp. Everyone else around us loved the dogs and had nothing bad to say. Meanwhile, other dogs were roaming the campground off leash! We will not be coming back to this campground due to how uncomfortable we felt.
Jul 08, 2024 · Stephanie SchmidHighly recommend Wild Duck if you are looking for a place to unwind from the norm. The place was so quiet on a Saturday night you could hear a pin drop. Very clean, sites are level, sand/gravel, hook ups are close to the camper so no need for 50 feet of water hose, bathrooms where clean, hot showers, nice staff, firewood delivery, and great atmosphere. One lane road coming and going so you do need to pay attention to make sure no one is trying to go your direction, or you will have to back up. Sites can be a little tight as i had a 32' travel trailer and did end up swinging my front end along another's site to make the turn but made it work. Again HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend and will definitely be back. I was in site 21 in front of the tent sites.
Aug 20, 2024 · Brittnie RodriguesLove this place… friendly staff, clean and well kept sites and bathroom. A lot of the sites are very close together. I’d say that if you want a nice view, sites 19-33 are the best, overlooking the marshes. Our site looked over the forest, but it was also lovely. And QUIET. We were there in early June, which was not as busy there. But it was so peaceful. The campground is also nice and close to OOB, and about 20 min to Portland.
