Wonderland Forest Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the Lafayette, NY area? Wonderland Forest, located at 4812 S Cook Rd, Lafayette, NY 13084, USA, is a venue that appears to host festivals and offers camping options, though recent reviews present a concerning picture for those looking for a traditional camping experience. You can contact them at (315) 299-8886 or their mobile number +1 315-299-8886. It's crucial for local users to be aware of the feedback from recent visitors before considering a stay here.
One reviewer who stayed for two nights while attending shows at nearby Beak & Skiff described their experience as a "big disappointment." They reported paying $70 per night to essentially camp in a "lush grass parking lot." According to this review, the area provided for non-festival camping bore little resemblance to a typical campsite, lacking amenities such as a fire ring and a picnic table. The reviewer noted that while the campground does have what appear to be beautiful campsites, these are allegedly reserved for on-site festivals only. This suggests a potential disparity in the experience offered to general campers versus those attending specific events.
This reviewer's overall impression was negative, characterizing the situation as feeling like a "tourist trap" and "highway robbery" for campers on non-festival weekends. While they found the staff to be nice, they also described them as disorganized, implying a lack of clear operational procedures for non-event camping. The reviewer strongly stated that they would not return and would advise caution to anyone considering camping there for a festival without first observing how the camp functions during such an event.
Adding to the concerns, another review comes from someone who provided sound services to the grounds on June 21-22nd. This individual reported significant difficulties in collecting payment from someone named Dan for over six months, with their invoices and emails allegedly being ignored. They even mentioned giving a 50% discount. As a result of this negative business interaction, they stated they would no longer offer deals without upfront payment and would not recommend any business to the venue. This review highlights potential issues with the venue's financial and communication practices.
Based on these reviews, the environment at Wonderland Forest appears to be variable depending on whether an event is taking place. While there are "beautiful" campsites, their availability seems restricted to on-site festivals. For regular campers, the provided area might simply be the edge of a parking lot, possibly lacking basic camping amenities. The presence of "lush grass" in the parking lot area is mentioned, suggesting some green space, but not necessarily a traditional camping environment.
Services and features for non-festival campers, according to one review, seem to be minimal, potentially just a patch of grass to park and camp on, without a fire ring or picnic table. The staff is described as nice but disorganized. For festival attendees, the experience might be different, with access to the more established and beautiful campsites. The availability of WiFi was mentioned by one reviewer, as they were given the password, which could be considered a service.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. However, the mention of "beautiful" campsites suggests that the venue might promote the aesthetic appeal of its grounds, particularly in the context of festivals. The proximity to Beak & Skiff, a local attraction, might also be something Wonderland Forest leverages to attract visitors attending events there.
In summary, the limited information available paints a concerning picture for local users seeking a standard "camping near me" experience at Wonderland Forest, especially on non-festival weekends. Reviews suggest that campers might be relegated to camping in a parking lot area with minimal to no amenities for a relatively high price. Additionally, there are reports of disorganized staff and unresolved payment issues with a service provider. While the grounds may have beautiful campsites used for festivals, this does not seem to translate to a positive experience for regular campers. Potential visitors should carefully consider these points and perhaps seek further information or alternative campgrounds in the Lafayette, NY area before making a decision.

Wonderland Forest Reviews
Stay here for two nights to attend a few shows at nearby beak and skiff. It was a big disappointment. Essentially you pay $70 per night to sleep in their lush grass parking lot. In no way did it resemble camping: no fire ring, no picnic table, no nothing. The camp has camp sites to be sure, and their beautiful, but they only allow their use for onsite festivals. To be honest, it felt a lot like a tourist trap, highway robbery scenario. The staff was nice, though disorganized. I do not think they really know what they are doing and they are certainly out of line for their treatment of campers on non-festival weekend. I would not return, and I would not camp their for a festival without first visiting the camp during a festival just to see how it functions. (photo shows you their "camp site." there instructions were simply park and camp anywhere on the edge of our parking lot.)
Jul 02, 2024 · Patrick BurnsProvided sound to the grounds on June 21-22nd. i have been trying to collect my payment from Dan for 6+ months now. they have been just ignoring my invoices and email. i gave them 50% off too. last time ill give a deal to anyone without payment up front. also will not be recommending any business to their venue either. over a measly $500 too. what a joke
Dec 19, 2024 · Soundz OrganicThoroughly enjoyed this place. It is run very well some of the best music around just a nice place to go.
Sep 29, 2024 · david wallaceThe music was great. The venue could use some management, portajohns covered in human waste dried on from last weekend. The tank has been emptied but the seat, floors and walls were disgusting. Folks were going behind rather than inside because of the filth. Expensive tickets, expensive parking and outrageous camping fees and add ons. most of the venue is not open to the public. The nature walk we heard about is not accessible. And just one food vendor with just one menu item. It's a bummer to finally have a venue with potential in the area, and see it mis managed to the point where attendees are talking about the mess at the show. Hopefully they can do better or it probably won't last long.
Sep 28, 2024 · Carmen ManninoWe were mildly concerned having seen some other recent reviews but I have to say our family had an amazing time at a gorgeous and fresh venue. Seemed that everyone involved with the operation was smiling and genuinely friendly, Security as it were was non invasive and the awesome people working made navigating a new venue especially one this size a breeze. Beer prices seemed on par for most other venues we’ve been to nationwide and the food prices appeared to be quite reasonable even though we didn’t eat. We have a saying “it’s a vibe” and let me tell you Wonderland Forest is THE Vibe. Can’t wait to come back, hopefully for many years to come!
