Desert Eagle RV Park on Nellis AFB Introduce
For those seeking "RV parks near me" in the Las Vegas, Nevada area, Desert Eagle RV Park, located on Nellis Air Force Base at 4907 Fam Camp Dr bldg 2889, Las Vegas, NV 89115, presents a unique option, particularly for military personnel, retirees, and those with base access. This RV park offers a range of amenities and a distinctive environment within the secure perimeter of a major air force installation, while still providing convenient access to the attractions of Las Vegas.
Desert Eagle RV Park can be contacted for reservations and inquiries at (702) 643-3060 or +1 702-643-3060. It is crucial for prospective guests to confirm their eligibility to stay at a military installation RV park, as access is typically restricted to active duty military, retirees, Department of Defense civilians, and their eligible dependents. When planning your stay, contacting the park directly will ensure you have the necessary credentials and are aware of any base access procedures.
According to online reviews from RVers who have stayed at Desert Eagle RV Park, it is generally considered an "excellent RV Park." One of the frequently mentioned positives is the "good sized spaces," which can comfortably accommodate various sizes of recreational vehicles and allow for ample room to maneuver, including space to unhook a towed vehicle ("toad"). This spaciousness contributes to a more relaxed and less cramped camping experience compared to some more tightly packed commercial RV parks.
The park offers multiple "laundry/bathhouses" for the convenience of its guests. One reviewer noted the presence of three such facilities, indicating good accessibility to these essential amenities throughout the park. The laundry facilities are reported to be reasonably priced at 75 cents per wash or dry cycle. Clean and well-maintained restrooms and laundry facilities are often a high priority for RV travelers, and Desert Eagle RV Park appears to meet these needs.
For pet owners, Desert Eagle RV Park provides the added benefit of "2 dog parks," as well as a "walking trail." These dedicated areas for pets are a significant advantage, allowing RVers to exercise their dogs in a safe and designated environment. This pet-friendly aspect makes the park an attractive option for travelers who bring their furry companions along.
The environment of Desert Eagle RV Park is described as "mostly quiet," with a notable exception: "jets." As it is located on an active air force base, guests should expect to hear aircraft noise during the day. However, one reviewer pointed out, "hey, it is an air force base," suggesting that this is an inherent aspect of the location and generally accepted by those choosing to stay there. Another reviewer noted that the "older part" of the park ("wagon wheel") is "quiet at night during the week" but can be "very noisy" on weekends, also mentioning "a lot of road noise." This suggests that noise levels may vary depending on the location within the park and the time of the week.
Despite its location on a military base, Desert Eagle RV Park offers convenient access to off-base amenities. Reviewers mention "plenty of shopping and restaurants close by," as well as the famous "strip if you want to gamble." This proximity allows guests to easily access everyday necessities and explore the entertainment options that Las Vegas is renowned for, without having to travel long distances.
The hosts at Desert Eagle RV Park are consistently praised for their welcoming demeanor. One reviewer described them as "all extremely welcoming" and noted that they "directed us to our site," indicating a helpful and organized check-in process. This positive interaction with park staff can significantly enhance the overall guest experience.
In terms of site infrastructure, "most sites are full hook ups (FHU)," providing water, sewer, and electrical connections at the individual RV spaces. Additionally, a "dump site" is available for those in less comprehensively equipped sites, and "pull thrus" are also available, which are particularly convenient for larger RVs as they eliminate the need to back in. One reviewer specifically mentioned that the sites in the "older part called the wagon wheel" are "all FHU" and "a lot more spacious."
For basic necessities, a "Shopette/gas station" is conveniently located "less than 1/2 mile away" from the RV park, providing easy access to fuel, groceries, and other essential items without having to leave the base or travel far.
One reviewer offered a comparison between the "older part called the wagon wheel" and the "newer side" of the RV park. They found the sites in the older section to be "a lot more spacious" and noted the presence of a building with a bathroom and laundry room in between the sites. In contrast, they described the "newer side of the RV park" as looking "like a parking lot," suggesting that the newer sites may be less spacious and potentially lack the established landscaping of the older section.
The same reviewer who preferred the older section also noted that "this part of Vegas is not the greatest," referring to the surrounding off-base area. This is a subjective opinion, but it's worth noting that the immediate vicinity of Nellis AFB may differ from the main tourist areas closer to the Strip or downtown Las Vegas.
Overall, Desert Eagle RV Park on Nellis AFB offers a unique RVing experience with its location on a military installation, spacious sites (especially in the older section), and amenities like laundry facilities, dog parks, and a walking trail. While aircraft noise is to be expected, the park provides a secure environment with welcoming hosts and convenient access to both on-base and off-base facilities. Its proximity to Las Vegas attractions makes it a viable option for eligible RVers looking for "RV parks near me" with a distinctive setting.
Prospective guests should ensure they meet the eligibility requirements for staying at a military RV park and contact the management directly to inquire about site availability, specific amenities, and any base access procedures. Understanding the layout of the park (older vs. newer sections) and potential noise levels can also help in choosing the most suitable site for your needs.

Desert Eagle RV Park on Nellis AFB Reviews
Excellent RV Park. Good sized spaces, 3 laundry/bathouses. Laundry 75 cents. 2 dog parks, walking trail. Mostly quiet except for jets, but hey, it is an air force base. Plenty of shopping and restaurants close by. Also the strip if you want to gamble. Hosts were all extremely welcoming, directed us to our site. Plenty of space to unhook toad. Most sites are full hook ups, dump site and pull thrus available. Shopette/gas station less than 1/2 mile away.
Apr 26, 2025 · Diana HardegenWe stayed in the older part called the wagon wheel. Sites are a lot more spacious. They are all FHU. There’s a building with a bathroom and laundry room in between. I did not use the showers but walked in to look at them. It’s quiet at night during the week. On weekends it’s very noisy. A lot of road noise. During the day you will hear a lot of aircraft noise. This part of Vegas is not the greatest. The newer side of the RV park looks like a parking lot.
Apr 27, 2025 · Nelida SafritWe found the spots here to be VERY tight. We have a 45' fifth wheel that barely fit in the spot length wise and then we had a tiny spot to park our truck in that was so close to the adjacent spot that you could barely walk between our truck and their unit. Definitely not ideal. We were told we should ask for one of the larger spaces next time, but that should really be on them when we state the size of our unit when making reservations. Base entry procedures weren't too bad, but SF at the gate were some of the most unprofessional people in uniform I've dealt with. We stayed here for a month and if we decide to return to the area we'll look at other options before settling on returning here.

Apr 15, 2025 · Pamela TapertWe love staying here. It's a beautiful RV park, the staff is friendly, and try hard to accommodate what you need. If you're planning on staying here I highly recommend making reservations especially in the winter months. It's very cool watching the Thunder Birds practicing their maneuvers on Any given day.
