Shady River RV Resort

7450 E State Hwy 29, Georgetown, TX 78626, USA

So first of all, the guy who runs it. Very nice and helpful. Our spot was by the entrance, and it was quiet for the most part. Lots of road noise in the morning. This park is mostly long-term. Our spot was tight to get into. It was kinda sketchy, but everyone was nice. We did get asked to be quiet after only being there a couple of hours bc the sound travels, she said. So that was disappointing. We had to sit around the back of our camper to not disturb. People came and went all night. I woke up several times with lights shining into the camper. The person across the way had lots of visitors I guess. Then when we were packing up a dude across the other way watched us the whole time.. stuff and all utilities worked great. The trees were beautiful. - Lori Campbell

Shady River RV Resort Introduce

For those searching for "RV parks near me" in the Georgetown, Texas area, Shady River RV Resort, located at 7450 E State Hwy 29, Georgetown, TX 78626, USA, presents a community-oriented living experience with a strong emphasis on its natural beauty. Situated along a river and featuring a pecan grove, this park appears to be particularly appealing to long-term residents who appreciate a connection with nature and a sense of community.

The positive aspects frequently highlighted by residents include the picturesque landscape. The river and the pecan grove are repeatedly mentioned as standout features, contributing to the park's overall appeal and providing opportunities for residents to enjoy the outdoors. The park is also noted to be pet-friendly, which is a significant advantage for RVers traveling with animals. Furthermore, the sense of community among the long-term residents is a significant draw, with neighbors described as friendly and supportive, fostering a welcoming environment.

One long-term resident, who has lived at Shady River RV Resort for several years and has raised their family there, expresses gratitude for the location, the river, the pecan grove, the pet-friendly policy, and the neighbors, all of which contribute to making it an "amazing place to live." This testimonial underscores the strong sense of belonging and the positive social fabric within the park.

However, alongside these positive remarks, several areas for improvement are consistently mentioned in the reviews, indicating that while the location and community have strong appeal, the facilities and management responsiveness may fall short of a "resort" designation. One recurring and significant concern is the state of the community bathroom, which is described as "gross and old" and in need of complete renovation. Similarly, the laundry room is characterized as "ghetto" and not meeting resort quality standards, with a specific issue raised about the washing machine water filter needing cleaning.

Maintenance of the common areas also appears to be an issue. The blacktop is reportedly not cleaned adequately, with a buildup of leaves and branches that has persisted for an extended period. The grass in the river area and around the park is said to get very long, which is not considered child-friendly, especially given the presence of poisonous snakes in the nature area by the river. The tall grass exacerbates this safety concern.

Another significant drawback reported by residents is the poor quality of the Wi-Fi service, which is described as "sucking" and in need of improvement. This can be a major inconvenience for residents who rely on a stable internet connection for work or personal use.

Safety concerns are also raised regarding speeding within the park. Residents report that people frequently drive too fast, posing a risk to children and pets. Despite requests to the management ("Pete") for more speed limit signs and warnings about children and animals at play, there has reportedly been no response. The condition of the playground is another worry, with a fence full of poison ivy, creating a hazard for children. One reviewer suggests that the owner seems more inclined to remove the playground to save money rather than invest in its safety and upkeep, indicating a perceived lack of care for the children in the community.

Despite these criticisms, the strong sense of community among long-term residents is repeatedly emphasized as a major positive. Residents describe bonding with their neighbors and enjoying a supportive environment. This suggests that while the physical infrastructure and management responsiveness may have shortcomings, the social aspect of living at Shady River RV Resort is a significant strength, particularly for those seeking a long-term community.

In summary, Shady River RV Resort offers a unique blend of natural beauty and a strong sense of community, particularly appealing to those seeking a long-term stay in a picturesque setting near Georgetown. Its key features include:

  • Beautiful Natural Setting: Access to a river and a pecan grove provides a lovely environment for nature lovers.
  • Pet-Friendly: A significant advantage for RVers traveling with pets.
  • Strong Sense of Community: Long-term residents report a friendly and supportive neighborly atmosphere.
  • Long-Term Stay Focus: The park appears to cater primarily to long-term residents, fostering a stable community.

However, potential residents should be aware of the reported drawbacks, which include:

  • Poor Condition of Facilities: The community bathroom and laundry room are described as old, dirty, and in need of renovation.
  • Inadequate Maintenance: Issues with uncleaned blacktop and overgrown grass, potentially posing safety hazards.
  • Poor Wi-Fi Service: The internet connectivity is reported to be unreliable.
  • Speeding Concerns: Frequent speeding within the park raises safety issues for children and pets.
  • Neglected Playground: The playground is described as hazardous, with poison ivy on the fence.
  • Potentially Gross Water: Residents recommend using a water filter.
  • Perceived Lack of Management Responsiveness: Reports of unaddressed concerns regarding safety and maintenance.

For individuals who highly value natural surroundings and a strong community atmosphere and are willing to overlook or manage the reported issues with facilities and maintenance, Shady River RV Resort could be a viable option for long-term living in the Georgetown area. If the beauty of the river and pecan grove, along with the friendly neighbors, are your top priorities, this park might be worth considering. However, it is strongly recommended to contact Shady River RV Resort directly at (512) 930-1140 or +1 512-930-1140 to inquire about the current status of the facilities, maintenance, and management's plans to address the concerns raised in the reviews. Visiting the park in person may also provide valuable insight before making a decision.

While Shady River RV Resort boasts a prime natural location and a welcoming community, potential residents should carefully weigh these benefits against the reported shortcomings in infrastructure and management responsiveness to determine if it meets their needs and expectations for an "RV park near me" in Georgetown.
