Southlake RV Park Knoxville Introduce
For those searching for "RV parks near me" in the Knoxville, Tennessee area, Southlake RV Park Knoxville, located at 3730 Maryville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37920, USA, presents itself as a potential option, particularly for those seeking a waterfront camping experience. Based on recent customer feedback, the park offers some appealing features, notably its lakeside sites and scenic location, but also presents certain challenges that potential visitors should be aware of.
One of the primary draws of Southlake RV Park Knoxville, as highlighted by multiple reviewers, is its picturesque setting on the lake. One guest specifically mentioned that their site was "on the lake" and described it as "very nice." Another reviewer echoed this sentiment, noting that the "view and location were great" and that their site was "right on the water," contributing to a "peaceful and quiet" atmosphere. For RV enthusiasts who appreciate waterfront views and the tranquility of being by the water, Southlake RV Park could be an attractive choice.
However, alongside the positive aspects of the location, some practical considerations have been raised by visitors. One reviewer noted that the roads within the campground were "some tight roads for a 40' motorhome." This is an important point for owners of larger RVs to consider, as navigating the park might present some challenges. It would be advisable for those with big rigs to inquire about site accessibility and road widths when making reservations.
In terms of amenities, one reviewer pointed out that while the "bathrooms and trash were too far away," they were nevertheless "very clean." This suggests that while the park maintains cleanliness, the placement of these facilities might not be convenient for all campsites. Depending on the location of your specific site within the park, be prepared for a potentially longer walk to access these essential services.
Further details regarding the RV sites themselves indicate some potential drawbacks. The reviewer mentioned that the sites were "very narrow" and all were "back in." Narrow sites might limit the space available for slide-outs and outdoor setup, potentially leading to a less spacious feel. The fact that all sites are back-in requires a degree of maneuvering skill, especially for larger RVs, and might not be preferred by all campers.
Another significant concern raised by a visitor was the spacing of the utility hookups, which were described as "too far apart." This could potentially require longer extension cords and hoses, and might not be ideal for all RV configurations. It would be prudent for potential guests to confirm the placement and reach of the hookups relative to their RV setup when booking a site.
Perhaps the most concerning feedback relates to the interaction with the hosting staff. One reviewer expressed disappointment due to the "abruptness of the hosting staff," stating that they were "not welcoming at all." Positive interactions with campground staff can significantly impact the overall camping experience, and a lack of welcoming demeanor could detract from an otherwise pleasant stay. This is an area where potential visitors might want to manage their expectations based on this feedback.
In summary, Southlake RV Park Knoxville offers the significant advantage of scenic lakefront sites, providing a peaceful and quiet environment for those camped directly on the water. The cleanliness of the bathrooms, despite their potentially inconvenient location, is also a positive aspect. However, potential guests should be aware of the reported tight roads, particularly for larger RVs, the narrow and back-in nature of the sites, the potentially inconvenient spacing of utility hookups, and the negative feedback regarding the welcoming nature of the hosting staff.
To gain a more comprehensive understanding of Southlake RV Park Knoxville, it would be beneficial for interested individuals to contact the park directly at (865) 573-1837 or +1 865-573-1837. Asking specific questions about site dimensions, road accessibility for different sized RVs, the exact location of amenities relative to various campsites, the placement of utility hookups, and any current policies or guidelines would be advisable. It might also be helpful to inquire about the typical interactions with staff to get a better sense of the overall guest experience.
While the limited number of reviews provides a snapshot of recent experiences, it is important to consider that individual experiences can vary. The strong positive feedback regarding the lakefront location and the cleanliness of facilities should be weighed against the concerns about road tightness, site dimensions, utility hookup placement, and staff interactions. For RVers prioritizing a waterfront setting in the Knoxville area, Southlake RV Park remains a possibility, but careful consideration of the potential drawbacks and direct communication with the park management are recommended before making a reservation.
In conclusion, Southlake RV Park Knoxville offers the appealing prospect of camping on the lake in Knoxville, TN, providing scenic views and a tranquil atmosphere for those fortunate enough to secure a waterfront site. However, potential guests should be prepared for potentially tight roads, especially for larger RVs, narrow back-in sites with possibly distant amenities and spread-out hookups, and the possibility of encountering less than welcoming staff. Direct communication with the park to address specific concerns and gather detailed information is highly recommended for anyone considering a stay at Southlake RV Park Knoxville as one of their "RV parks near me."

Southlake RV Park Knoxville Reviews
Good campground. Some tight roads for a 40' motorhome. Our site was on the lake. Very nice.
May 04, 2025 · Wright DavisView and location were great. Our site was right on the water and it was peaceful and quiet. The bathrooms and trash were too far away but very clean. The sites were very narrow, all back in and the hookups were too far apart. I was really disappointed by the abruptness of the hosting staff. Not welcoming at all.
Sep 11, 2024 · Barby PickettNice RV park with wooded areas and several spots on the lake. We travel with 3 dogs and there were sufficient places for walking dogs and a few stations with poo bags and trash cans for disposal. There were plenty of washers and dryers for use in the office building. You could pay with quarters or your card. The pool looked nice. The water hookups by the lake seemed like they were on the wrong side, but our water hose reached. It seems like an older campground, but we prefer those to the sprawling parks where everyone is crammed together. If they do any updates in the future, I would recommend a small fenced-in area for dogs. I have one that takes FOREVER to go when he's on a leash, but will go in 30 seconds otherwise. One is still a puppy, and she really wanted to play, but I couldn't let her off leash anywhere. Also, with 3 dogs, it would be nice to be able to take them all to one place and let them do their business instead of trying to juggle all 3, or do 1 at a time.Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and it was convenient to lots of stuff!!!
Jun 25, 2024 · Lisa DavisNice quiet location. Bar restaurant across the street. Great to walk along the water and through the woods.
Mar 29, 2025 · Jim BilottaThe bathhouse and office could use some updates, but the location is convenient since there aren't many camping options nearby. The lake is a nice feature, and the pool is enjoyable, though it’s close to the office and traffic, which can be a bit annoying. Also only gravel.
