Trails End RV Campground Introduce
Are you a local user in the Granite City, Illinois area searching for "RV parks near me"? Trails End RV Campground, situated at 3225 W Chain of Rocks Rd, Granite City, IL 62040, USA, is an option you might be considering. They can be reached by phone at (618) 931-5041 or via their mobile number, +1 618-931-5041.
When selecting an RV park, local users often prioritize factors such as the overall environment, the availability and quality of services and amenities, specific features that cater to their needs, and the experiences shared by other campers. The provided customer reviews for Trails End RV Campground offer some insights into these aspects, although they present a mixed perspective.
One initial review expresses a positive first impression, with the camper intending to stay for an extended period and promising updates. A subsequent update from the same reviewer describes Trails End RV Campground as a "nice little place overall." However, this positive assessment is tempered by a significant concern regarding the shower room facilities. The reviewer notes the presence of two showers with toilets and sinks but highlights a problematic flooring issue. The use of 12" by 12" sticky tiles in a wet environment is identified as a potential hazard, with the reviewer, weighing approximately 250 lbs, reporting soft spots in the floor that felt like they could give way. The reviewer advises bringing shower shoes as a precaution. On a more positive note, they commend the two on-site managers as "great people." However, a financial issue is also raised: despite the park stating that credit cards are accepted, a $50 extra charge is reportedly applied for credit card payments, which the reviewer found "not cool," suggesting that if credit cards are welcomed, such surcharges should be avoided.
Another review presents a less favorable initial experience, stating that the campground "was not what we were expecting after reading the reviews." This reviewer describes the parking area as a gravel lot and notes that the environment was noisy in the evening. They also mention that the person who answered the phone did not clearly identify themselves as representing the business. Furthermore, there was a preference for cash payments that was not disclosed during the phone conversation. This reviewer found the park to be "OK for the night" but observed that most of the occupants were full-timers.
Considering these reviews, local users searching for "RV parks near me" should be aware of both the potential positives and negatives associated with Trails End RV Campground. The positive aspects seem to include friendly and helpful on-site managers and a generally perceived "nice" atmosphere by at least one long-term camper (after an initial period). However, significant drawbacks appear to be the condition of the shower room flooring, a potentially unexpected surcharge for credit card payments, a gravel parking area, and possible evening noise. The discrepancy between expectations set by previous reviews and the actual experience reported by one short-term visitor also suggests that past experiences may not be entirely indicative of the current state.
To provide a more comprehensive introduction for local users, it would be beneficial to have more information regarding the specific services and features offered at Trails End RV Campground. Typically, RV parks provide amenities such as:
- Hookups: Water, electricity (various amperages), and sewer connections at individual sites. The reviews do not specify the type or reliability of these hookups at Trails End.
- Restroom and Shower Facilities: The first updated review mentions the existence of a shower room with two showers, toilets, and sinks, but raises concerns about the floor's safety. Further information on the cleanliness and overall condition of these facilities would be helpful.
- Laundry Facilities: Whether coin-operated laundry machines are available is not mentioned in the reviews.
- Wi-Fi Access: Internet connectivity is an important consideration for many RVers, but its availability and quality at Trails End are unknown based on the provided information.
- Recreational Amenities: Details about any recreational facilities, such as a playground, picnic areas, or communal spaces, are not included in the reviews.
- Pet Policies: Information regarding whether pets are allowed, any size or breed restrictions, and the availability of pet-friendly areas is missing.
- Site Types and Sizes: Knowing the types and sizes of RV sites available (e.g., pull-through, back-in, specific length accommodations) would be relevant for potential campers. The mention of a "gravel parking lot" suggests the parking surfaces, but not the layout or size of individual sites.
- Pricing Structure: While the $50 credit card surcharge is mentioned, the base rates for daily, weekly, or monthly stays are not provided.
The fact that "most were full-timers," as noted by one reviewer, suggests that Trails End RV Campground may cater more towards long-term residents. This could influence the overall atmosphere and the types of amenities and services prioritized by the management. For short-term visitors, a higher proportion of long-term residents can sometimes mean fewer available sites or a different community dynamic than at parks primarily catering to transient travelers.
For local users actively searching for "RV parks near me" in Granite City, IL, Trails End RV Campground presents a mixed picture based on the limited available reviews. The positive comments about the on-site managers are encouraging, and the "nice little place" assessment from a long-term camper indicates some level of satisfaction. However, the significant concerns regarding the shower room floor safety and the unexpected credit card surcharge should not be overlooked. The description of a gravel parking lot and the evening noise might also be deterrents for some visitors. The lack of detailed information about essential amenities and services makes it difficult to form a complete assessment.
Therefore, local users considering Trails End RV Campground are strongly advised to:
- Contact the management directly: Use the provided phone numbers to inquire about current rates, site availability, hookup details, Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, pet policies, and any other amenities that are important to you. Specifically ask about the condition of the shower facilities and the policy regarding credit card payments.
- Visit the campground in person: If possible, a visit would allow you to assess the environment firsthand, inspect the shower facilities, and get a better sense of the layout and overall condition of the park.
- Inquire about long-term vs. short-term accommodations: Understand the park's focus and whether it primarily caters to full-time residents, which might affect the availability and suitability for short stays.
- Seek additional reviews: Look for more recent reviews on other platforms to see if the issues mentioned have been addressed or if new concerns have arisen.
In conclusion, while Trails End RV Campground is a local option for those seeking "RV parks near me" in Granite City, IL, the available information suggests a need for potential visitors to conduct further investigation. The positive feedback about the managers is a plus, but the concerns regarding the shower facilities and payment policies warrant careful consideration. A direct inquiry with the management and a personal visit are highly recommended to determine if Trails End RV Campground meets your specific needs and expectations.

Trails End RV Campground Reviews
Well so far so good I'll be here awhile so I'm keep yall postedUpdated overall nice little place, from the discussion of other campers the owners would rather purchase new vehicles than fix issues, my only issue was the shower room there due two showers with Toilets and sink the problem was the floor someone used 12"by 12" sticky tile and we all know what happens when water gets under them, I'm about 250lbs and a few spots in the floor thought I was going to go through if I stood in that spot two long, if also bring shower shoes other than that no complaints the two on-site managers are great people! Oh and even tho it says Credit Cards accepted they will charge you $50 extra ( not cool) if your gonna say they are welcome don't charge extra " for the extra paperwork "
Apr 13, 2025 · Jason LohoffWas not what we were expecting after reading the reviews! Gravel parking lot. Noisy during the evening. Person who talked to us on the phone did not identify the number as the business. Preferred cash but did not say that one the phone. OK for the night. Most were full-timers.
Sep 03, 2020 · Lacreta CarrGood people, convenient location, and they have a shower house and laundry room.Their prices are right in line with everyone else.
Mar 09, 2025 · Robert WarnerIt’ll do for a one night stop. Checked in late so we didn’t meet anyone. I personally would prefer grass and trees over an ALL gravel lot...had to take my dog out by the road to find grass, not ideal, but not the end of the world. The road through the park has many many many potholes so be careful driving through that you don’t bottom out if you are towing. You can hear some traffic but nothing too noisy. Neighbors were quiet and it also seems like everyone here is full time. Not a big deal but not a “campground” feel... more a “RV Park”.
Nov 27, 2020 · Dale PearsallPrice was good but area was not great. Random sketchy people walking from the street into and out of the park at all hours. We had the first spot #15 as you enter the park. It rained hard that night and the water pooled right at the electrical post and water connection. Not ideal. All in all, I would not recommend unless you absolutely need a place to sleep.
