Cloverleaf Campground

Gifford, WA 99131, USA

4.0
Just spent 5 nights in this quiet hidden gem. Absolutely loved it! Not for everyone, theres no power or water and its a long way to a store. Lot of work getting set up and breaking down camp as most of the sites are down steep trails from the parking area, but we found it worth the effort. Wildlife was abundant we even had a visit from a pair of young eagles! Already planning another trip. If you like "roughing it" you'll love it here! - Leanne Lewis-Holcomb

Cloverleaf Campground Introduce

For those in the Gifford, Washington area seeking a more primitive "camping near me" experience, Cloverleaf Campground, located in Gifford, WA 99131, USA, offers a "quiet hidden gem" that caters specifically to tent campers. Based on the available customer reviews, this campground provides a secluded natural setting with abundant wildlife, albeit with certain limitations regarding amenities and accessibility. If you appreciate "roughing it" and are looking for a peaceful escape, Cloverleaf Campground might be the ideal destination for your next camping adventure.

The environment of Cloverleaf Campground is consistently described as quiet and peaceful, making it an appealing retreat for those seeking tranquility in nature. One reviewer found it "absolutely loved it!" during a five-night stay, highlighting its serene atmosphere. The campground's location near Gifford, WA, suggests proximity to the natural beauty of eastern Washington, potentially including forests, hills, and proximity to Lake Roosevelt. Wildlife appears to be a significant feature, with one camper recounting a visit from a pair of young eagles. The abundance of wildlife suggests a relatively undisturbed natural habitat, offering opportunities for nature observation and photography. However, it's important to note the limitations: the campground has "no power or water" hookups at the campsites, emphasizing its primitive nature. Additionally, while generally quiet, one reviewer mentioned "a little road noise because of close proximity to hwy 25," which is a factor to consider for those particularly sensitive to such sounds. Despite this, the overall impression is of a natural and relatively secluded environment.

In terms of services, Cloverleaf Campground offers basic amenities suitable for tent camping. According to one review, it typically operates from Memorial Day to Labor Day and provides "pump water and a pit toilet." The availability of pump water is a basic necessity, but campers should be prepared to treat it for drinking to ensure safety. Pit toilets are a common feature in more rustic campgrounds, indicating a lack of flushable restrooms. The significant absence of power and water hookups means that RV camping is not accommodated, as explicitly stated in one review: "If you want a place that has no rv camping and you like tenting this is your place." This clearly defines the type of camping experience offered. The first reviewer also noted that "most of the sites are down steep trails from the parking area," implying that setting up and breaking down camp requires considerable physical effort due to the need to carry gear down these trails. This accessibility challenge is a crucial service-related factor for potential campers to consider, especially those with mobility issues or large amounts of gear. There is no mention of other services such as firewood for sale, trash disposal, or on-site management, further reinforcing the campground's focus on a more self-sufficient camping experience.

The features of Cloverleaf Campground are centered around its natural setting and the type of camping it accommodates. The tent-only policy is a defining feature, catering to those who prefer a more traditional camping experience without the amenities of RV parks. The quiet and peaceful atmosphere is a key attraction, offering a respite from more crowded and developed campgrounds. The abundance of wildlife, as evidenced by the eagle sighting, is a significant draw for nature enthusiasts. The proximity to Lake Roosevelt, while not directly within the campground, is a notable feature, as mentioned by one reviewer who suggests that those looking for "something bigger" with more amenities should head south to the Giffords campgrounds, which are "one of the premier sites on lake roosevelt." This implies that while Cloverleaf Campground itself might not be directly on the lake or offer extensive lake access, its location provides relatively easy access to the recreational opportunities of Lake Roosevelt. The steep trails to most campsites, while posing an accessibility challenge, could also be seen as a feature that enhances the sense of seclusion and immersion in nature for those willing and able to navigate them. The lack of power and water hookups promotes a more off-grid camping experience, appealing to those seeking a break from modern conveniences.

Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the customer reviews. Typically, campgrounds might promote themselves based on their unique features, such as the quiet atmosphere, wildlife viewing opportunities, or proximity to natural attractions like Lake Roosevelt. The reviews themselves offer a form of promotion, with one camper expressing their love for the campground and planning a return trip, and another recommending it for tent campers seeking peace. To gather more specific promotional details, such as seasonal rates, reservation policies (if any, given its rustic nature), or any specific guidelines for camping, interested individuals might need to consult local camping resources or attempt to find official information online if available. Given the "hidden gem" description, it's possible that it operates on a more informal basis or relies on word-of-mouth recommendations.

When considering Cloverleaf Campground as a "camping near me" option in the Gifford, WA area, local users should be aware of its rustic nature and tent-only policy. The quiet and peaceful environment and the potential for wildlife encounters are significant attractions for those seeking a more primitive camping experience. However, the lack of power and water hookups, the reliance on pump water and pit toilets, and the steep trails to campsites require campers to be well-prepared and physically capable. The proximity to Lake Roosevelt offers additional recreational opportunities in the broader area. If you value solitude, wildlife, and a back-to-basics camping style, and are equipped to handle the lack of amenities and the physical demands of the terrain, Cloverleaf Campground could be an excellent choice. However, if you require RV accommodations or prefer more developed facilities, the Giffords campgrounds on Lake Roosevelt might be a more suitable option, as suggested by one of the reviewers.

In conclusion, Cloverleaf Campground near Gifford, WA, offers a unique and secluded tent camping experience characterized by its quiet environment, abundant wildlife, and proximity to Lake Roosevelt. However, potential visitors must be prepared for the lack of power and water hookups, the use of pump water and pit toilets, and the possibility of navigating steep trails to campsites. It caters to those who enjoy "roughing it" and appreciate a more primitive connection with nature. For tent campers seeking a peaceful and wildlife-rich escape, Cloverleaf Campground is worth considering, keeping in mind its limitations and the need for self-sufficiency.
