The environment surrounding Hualapai Mountain Park Campground is a significant draw, particularly for those who appreciate a departure from typical desert landscapes. The reviews highlight a "superb variety of lush forest trails," indicating a rich and diverse ecosystem to explore. This mountainous terrain offers a welcome change of scenery and a cooler climate compared to the lower valleys, making it an ideal retreat during warmer months. The presence of "gorgeous views of the lower valleys sprinkled throughout" suggests that hikers and campers can anticipate breathtaking panoramic vistas as they traverse the trails and perhaps even from their campsites.
One of the unique features of Hualapai Mountain Park Campground, as noted by a recent visitor, is the freedom to "pick your own campsite." This self-selection process allows campers to find the spot that best suits their needs and preferences, whether they prioritize seclusion, proximity to facilities, or a particular view. The reviewer also mentioned that they "practically had the whole campground to ourselves," suggesting that at certain times, the campground offers a serene and uncrowded experience, enhancing the feeling of being immersed in nature.
In terms of services and facilities, the feedback indicates that Hualapai Mountain Park Campground maintains a high standard of cleanliness. The reviewer specifically praised the "very clean sites and well maintained bathrooms," which are essential for a comfortable and hygienic camping experience. Knowing that the basic amenities are well-kept can provide peace of mind for local campers planning a visit.
The primary feature emphasized in the reviews is the exceptional hiking opportunities. One visitor described the area as "great for challenging wilderness hiking!!" This suggests that the trail system within and around Hualapai Mountain Park is well-suited for those seeking a more strenuous and adventurous outdoor activity. The "lush forest trails" offer a variety of paths to explore, likely differing in difficulty and length, catering to a range of hiking abilities.
However, the reviews also provide some constructive feedback regarding trail maintenance and signage. One hiker noted that "the trails (& the dirt roads) could use more & better trail signage." This is an important consideration for local users who value clear navigation, especially when engaging in wilderness hiking. It might be prudent to inquire about the current state of trail signage when you contact the campground and perhaps obtain trail maps or guidance upon arrival. The same reviewer also mentioned that "some of the trails are build up with debris from the forest," indicating that trail maintenance can occasionally be an issue. While they acknowledge that "in most cases it shouldn't be a problem," it's something to be aware of, particularly for those with mobility concerns or those expecting perfectly manicured trails.
Despite these minor points regarding trail maintenance and signage, the overall sentiment towards the hiking experience is overwhelmingly positive, with the description of a "superb variety of lush forest trails" and "gorgeous views." This highlights the intrinsic value of the natural environment and the rewarding experience it offers to hikers.

Jan 22, 2025 · Thomas “Thomas” DownesSuper awesome campground. You pick your own campsite which we love!! We practically had the whole campground to ourselves. Very clean sites and well maintained bathrooms. We have zero complaints about this campground.Look at our friend that showed up last night. 🩷
Apr 11, 2025 · Randee ScottBeautiful as always. Went tent camping with my son. It was his first time camping. The fun of camping is slightly diminished if you're not able to roast marshmallows over a campfire. There's been no fires allowed for so long.
Mar 09, 2025 · CARL DOUGLAS GRADY JRMy boys and I come here every Christmas and get a cabin for a few days, this year and last year (2024+2023) there was no snow. However the park is still beautiful, boasting excellent views, fresh air and plenty of wild critters! 😊 I love our little mountain park 👍
