Hull Valley Camp Introduce
When local users search for "camping near me" in the Preston, Idaho area, Hull Valley Camp, located at 10100 East Cub River Road, Preston, ID 83263, USA, presents itself as a potential option. Based on the limited available customer reviews, this campground appears to have certain characteristics that may be relevant for specific types of camping groups, particularly scout troops. However, the reviews also highlight some potential drawbacks that prospective campers should consider.
The environment of Hull Valley Camp is suggested by its address on East Cub River Road, placing it in the vicinity of the Cub River, a geographical feature mentioned in relation to other nearby campgrounds in the Preston area. This might imply a setting with access to the river and the natural landscapes typical of this part of Idaho, which includes forests and potentially hilly terrain. However, one reviewer noted that their campsite had "very little shade outside the campgrounds," indicating that while the general area might be naturally vegetated, individual campsites could be exposed to direct sunlight. This lack of shade could be a significant factor for campers, especially during warmer months, and should be taken into account when considering this location for "camping near me."
In terms of services and features, the reviews provide some insights, particularly in the context of a scout camp experience. One reviewer mentioned that "the camp encourages scouts to bring their bikes." This suggests that the campground might have been intended to offer biking as a recreational activity. However, the same reviewer strongly advised against this, stating that the terrain was "too steep," making it impractical for most scouts to ride their bikes more than once or twice, as it was primarily a one-way downhill experience requiring them to walk their bikes back up. This feedback indicates a potential mismatch between the intended and actual suitability of the terrain for biking, at least for a group of young scouts.
Another reviewer, also visiting with a scout camp, noted that their campsite was "a little dirty." This suggests that the level of cleanliness at individual campsites might vary and could be an area of concern for some campers. The same review also commented on the staffing, mentioning that while the camp is staffed by younger people, they seemed to "lack some maturity that you would expect." This observation about the staff could impact the overall experience, particularly for organized groups like scout troops that might rely on camp staff for guidance or support. The reviewer, having been to several other scout camps, found those to be "much better," implying that Hull Valley Camp might not meet the standards or expectations of experienced scout leaders.
The features of Hull Valley Camp, beyond the potential for biking (which seems problematic based on the terrain), are not detailed in the provided reviews. The proximity to the Cub River might offer opportunities for water-related activities, but this is not explicitly mentioned. The lack of shade at some campsites, as noted, could be considered a negative feature for those seeking relief from the sun. The reviews do not mention typical campground amenities such as restrooms, water sources, fire rings, or picnic tables, so their availability cannot be confirmed based on this information alone. Local users searching for "camping near me" with specific amenity requirements would need to seek additional information about what Hull Valley Camp provides.
Given that the reviews are primarily focused on the experience of a scout camp and highlight issues with biking suitability, cleanliness of campsites, and staff maturity, there is no positive feedback that could be construed as promotional information. The advice against bringing bikes and the comparison to "much better" scout camps elsewhere serve as cautionary notes rather than endorsements. Therefore, local users considering Hull Valley Camp, especially for scout groups or family camping trips, should weigh these concerns carefully.
In conclusion, Hull Valley Camp in Preston, Idaho, appears to be a campground that has hosted scout groups, with a location near the Cub River. However, user reviews raise significant concerns regarding the suitability of the terrain for biking (despite encouragement to bring bikes), the cleanliness of at least some campsites, and the perceived lack of maturity among the younger staff. Additionally, a lack of shade at some campsites is noted. These factors suggest that while Hull Valley Camp might be an option when searching for "camping near me" in the Preston area, prospective campers should be aware of these potential drawbacks, particularly if planning activities involving biking or if traveling with a scout group. Further investigation and potentially seeking feedback from more diverse groups of campers would be advisable to get a more comprehensive understanding of the campground's environment, services, and features.
For local residents of Idaho or those planning a camping trip to the Preston area, Hull Valley Camp presents a mixed picture based on the limited reviews. The proximity to the Cub River might be appealing, but the issues raised by scout leaders regarding biking, campsite cleanliness, and staff should be taken seriously, especially for organized youth groups. Families or individuals looking for a more standard camping experience might find the lack of information about basic amenities and the concerns about shade to be deterrents. It is recommended that those considering Hull Valley Camp seek more detailed and recent reviews or contact the campground directly for information on their facilities and services to make an informed decision when searching for "camping near me." The current feedback suggests that it might not be the top choice for all types of campers.

Hull Valley Camp Reviews
We enjoyed our week here. Except, the camp encourages scouts to bring their bikes. I would not recommend this. All our scouts brought bikes, but most only rode them only once or twice - it was too steep. You were only able to ride them one way and then you'd walk your bike back up.
Aug 27, 2016 · Edward ReberWent for 11 year old Scout camp. Our Campsite was a little dirty and very little shade outside the campgrounds. I know it is staffed younger people but they seemed to lack some maturity that you would expect. I have been to several other Scout camps that are much better.
Dec 13, 2013 · Camron StevensonGreat place to bring your scouts. Our troop was up in mid July 2014 and we loved it. Great environment, low on bugs. This camp is worth supporting so it can grow even more.
Jul 20, 2014 · Aaron KibbieThe location is nice. It's not far away or hard to get to, and it's in a nook in the mountains that's beautiful. Quite the hill to go up and down for anything, but I actually liked that, it wore the boys out an extra degree!
Jul 07, 2017 · Jack HadlockWe loved this camp. Tons of shade which is great during the hot summer months. A bit smaller than other camps which was nice.
