Plymouth Rock Campground Introduce
For local residents in Wisconsin searching for "camping near me," Plymouth Rock Campground, located at N7271 Lando St, Plymouth, WI 53073, USA, presents a camping destination with a range of amenities and some important considerations highlighted by recent visitors. You can contact them at (920) 892-4252 or their mobile number +1 920-892-4252 for inquiries and reservations.
One recurring positive aspect mentioned by campers is the cleanliness of Plymouth Rock Campground. One reviewer who frequently camps there for events at nearby Road America specifically noted it as a "very clean campground with nice sites." This emphasis on cleanliness is a significant draw for many campers seeking a comfortable and well-maintained environment.
A notable feature of Plymouth Rock Campground is its impressive array of recreational facilities, particularly its water amenities. The campground boasts not one, but three pools, as well as a hot tub. These are described as "nice" and are undoubtedly a major attraction, especially for families and those looking to relax and cool off during their camping trip. The presence of multiple pools suggests that even during busier times, campers may have options to find a less crowded swimming area.
The staff at Plymouth Rock Campground also receive positive feedback. One reviewer noted that "everyone is friendly and helpful," and another described every encounter with the staff as "pleasant," with staff members being consistently smiling and offering information freely and friendly. Positive interactions with campground staff can significantly enhance the overall camping experience, contributing to a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.
For families with children, Plymouth Rock Campground appears to offer several appealing features. A free mini-golf course is mentioned as a "nice course," providing a fun and engaging activity for all ages. Additionally, the campground has "all the parks" which are described as "fun for kids of all ages," suggesting multiple play areas designed to cater to different age groups. The availability of these recreational options makes it a potentially attractive destination for families seeking a "camping near me" location with on-site entertainment for children.
However, one detailed review raises some important cautions, particularly for families with young children. While acknowledging the numerous fun things to do, the reviewer points out that Plymouth Rock Campground operates somewhat like a resort, with significant golf cart traffic. Despite a posted speed limit of 10 mph, they observed numerous instances of golf carts and cars "zooming past" well above this limit throughout the weekend, urging campers with young children to be mindful of this safety concern.
Another issue raised in the same review concerns the enforcement of pool rules. While the three amazing pools are designated as no-smoking areas, the reviewer observed adults using vape pens in the pool, creating clouds of vapor that affected other swimmers, including children. This suggests a potential lack of enforcement of campground rules and a degree of inconsiderate behavior from some guests that could detract from the experience of others.
The reviewer also noted a practice among seasonal site holders on Fridays to "clean-up" for the weekend by burning brush and lawn waste. This resulted in clouds of smoke that could affect other campers setting up or strolling through the campground. This is a temporary but potentially unpleasant environmental factor to be aware of, particularly for those with respiratory sensitivities or those simply wishing to enjoy fresh air during their camping trip.
Lastly, the reviewer strongly advises prospective campers to research Road America's event schedule before booking a stay at Plymouth Rock Campground. The proximity to the renowned racetrack means that during race weekends, the campground can experience significant noise from early morning until the evening. The reviewer specifically mentioned a weekend with "loud all day" racing and suggested that "Vintage days and public track days are better" in terms of noise levels. This is a crucial consideration for those seeking a peaceful camping experience; checking the race schedule can help avoid weekends with disruptive noise.
In summary, Plymouth Rock Campground offers a clean environment, nice campsites, excellent water amenities with three pools and a hot tub, and family-friendly features like mini-golf and playgrounds. The staff is consistently described as friendly and helpful. However, potential drawbacks include significant golf cart traffic with reported instances of speeding, lax enforcement of no-smoking rules in the pool areas, occasional brush burning on Fridays by seasonal campers, and potentially disruptive noise from nearby Road America events, depending on the track schedule.
For local users searching for "camping near me," Plymouth Rock Campground presents a mixed bag. Families with children might be drawn to the pools, playgrounds, and mini-golf. Those attending events at Road America will find its location exceptionally convenient. However, the concerns about golf cart safety, pool etiquette, brush burning, and noise from the racetrack are important factors to consider.
Promotional information for Plymouth Rock Campground could highlight its clean facilities, multiple pools and hot tub, family-friendly amenities, and friendly staff. It should also mention its proximity to Road America as a benefit for event attendees. However, to provide an objective introduction, it would be prudent to also include a note advising potential guests to be aware of golf cart traffic and to check the Road America schedule if noise is a concern. While the brush burning and pool vaping issues might be harder to predict, acknowledging the resort-like atmosphere with potentially higher traffic could set appropriate expectations.
Local campers considering Plymouth Rock Campground should weigh the appealing amenities against the potential downsides. If you are attending an event at Road America, the convenience is undeniable. If you have older children who can be mindful of golf carts and are less bothered by potential noise, the facilities might be very attractive. However, families with very young children might need to be extra vigilant regarding golf cart traffic. Anyone seeking a truly quiet and serene natural retreat might want to consider the potential for noise from the racetrack. Checking the Road America schedule before booking is highly recommended to avoid unexpected disruptions.
Ultimately, Plymouth Rock Campground offers a range of appealing features, but potential guests should be aware of the full picture, as described by recent visitors, to make an informed decision about whether it aligns with their preferences for a "camping near me" experience in the Plymouth, Wisconsin area. Contacting the campground directly with specific questions about their policies on golf cart usage, pool rules, and any planned brush burning during your stay might also be beneficial.

Plymouth Rock Campground Reviews
Love camping here for all of our events at Road America. Very clean campground with nice sites. The pools (yes they have 3) and hot tub are nice and everyone is friendly and helpful.
Oct 29, 2024 · Laura OrourkeGreat place for kids, and at the same time, not a great place for kids. If you have young children, camp with some caution in mind. It’s a resort; while there are so many fun things to do, there is A LOT of golf cart traffic. The posted speed limit is 10mph, but you’ll have carts and cars zoom past you well above that all weekend long, so be mindful. The 3 amazing pools are no-smoking, but adults of all kinds will sit there with their vape pens in the pool, puffing clouds, as your kids are trying to enjoy the water, so find a spot upwind and realize society has just become ignorant and selfish. The seasonal sites, on Friday, “clean-up” for the weekend, and burn their brush, so when you are setting up or going for a nice stroll to the park, steer clear of the clouds of brush and lawn-waste smoke the bellows for a few hours. On other notes, the staff is very nice. Every encounter I had with them was pleasant, always had a smile and offered information freely and friendly. Mini-Golf is free and is a nice course, all the parks are fun for kids of all ages and all the bathrooms were clean. Lastly, research Road America’s schedule before booking. We picked a weekend that was loud all day (8am to the evening) racing some loud cars. Vintage days and public track days are better as the noise levels won’t be so distracting. Happy Camping!
Jul 01, 2024 · Tyler RuschThe rooms were clean, and the atmosphere was amazing. Tho the roads need a major overhaul.
Mar 19, 2025 · cp_719Huge campground with 2 pools and lots of activities. Nice wooded sites large enough to be away from other campers. They were great with keeping us informed about arrival details via text and email. Maybe a little too much informed. There were quite a few texts and emails.
Jul 30, 2024 · Cheryl WareStayed October 2023Things we liked:-They held events and activities like movies and music- Multiple playgrounds-Basketball Courts- They had multiple pools and even kept one running while we were there in September-Laundry facilities were nice, clean, easy to use-Small but decent mini golf course. Good for our young kids-Sand pit with toys-Some hiking trails-Bathrooms were clean and most had hot waterThings we weren’t fond of:- Some things could use updates: one basketball hoop was broken, the pirate park had a lot of missing pieces or broken equipment- We had to use certain showers because one of the showers we used did not have any hot water. Once we found a shower with hot water, it was great! This could be a seasonal issue however because we visited in September when it was pretty chilly.-The Road America race track is very close by and you can hear the engines and races happening from early in the morning to late at night.Summary:We stayed with our Thousand Trails membership for two weeks. The electricity and water hook ups were great. Dump station was near the garbages and easy to use. Lots of seasonal homes here with people who come to party for the races. Also saw some families but we were here late in the season so most kiddos were at school. We would absolutely stay here again. The staff was friendly and helpful and we liked a lot more than we didn’t. We hope to come back in the summer to see the difference in the number of families visiting.
