Tar Hollow State Park Logan Hollow Campground Introduce
For local users seeking a "camping near me" experience within the scenic beauty of an Ohio State Park, Tar Hollow State Park Logan Hollow Campground, located at 16396 Tar Hollow Rd, Laurelville, OH 43135, USA, offers a promising option. You can contact them at (740) 887-4818 or +1 740-887-4818. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground provides a mix of natural appeal, spacious campsites, and access to recreational activities, though with some considerations regarding amenities and connectivity.
The environment surrounding Tar Hollow State Park Logan Hollow Campground is consistently praised for its natural beauty. One reviewer described it as "a beautiful place," indicating an attractive setting for outdoor enthusiasts seeking "camping near me." As part of Tar Hollow State Park, the campground is likely situated within a landscape characterized by rolling hills, dense forests, and potentially a variety of flora and fauna typical of southern Ohio. This environment offers a tranquil escape from urban life and provides opportunities for nature observation and appreciation. The spaciousness of the campsites, as noted by a reviewer, further enhances the feeling of being immersed in nature without feeling crowded.
In terms of services, Logan Hollow Campground offers electric hookups at the campsites, which is a significant benefit for RV campers looking for "camping near me" with this amenity. However, for those relying on more traditional camping without RVs, it's important to note that water and sewer hookups are not mentioned as being available at the individual campsites. The reviews provide contrasting information regarding bathroom facilities. One reviewer described the bathrooms around the campsites as "outhouse style" and prone to being overrun by bugs, possibly due to the time of year. However, they also mentioned a "nicer facility" located near the shower house. Another reviewer found the "shower houses" to be "really decent," suggesting that while the more basic facilities might have limitations, better options are available within the campground. It's advisable for potential campers to inquire about the locations and conditions of the various restroom facilities to plan accordingly.
The features of Logan Hollow Campground include the spacious campsites, which are large enough to comfortably accommodate RVs and likely multiple tents for other campers. The availability of electric hookups at the sites is a key feature for RV users. The presence of shower houses is another significant amenity, with at least one reviewer finding them to be of good quality. However, a notable feature, or lack thereof, is the reported absence of cell service and TV reception. One reviewer explicitly warned to "be prepared for zero cell service and TV reception," which could be a drawback for those who wish to stay connected or entertained. For those seeking a truly unplugged "camping near me" experience, this might be seen as a positive aspect. The campground also provides access to hiking trails within Tar Hollow State Park. While one reviewer found the initial trail markings to be frustrating, they noted that once on the trails, they were "marked beautifully." This suggests that while some initial navigation might be required, the trails themselves are well-maintained for enjoyable hiking.
Promotional information is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. Local users interested in "camping near me" at Tar Hollow State Park Logan Hollow Campground would need to contact the campground directly at the provided phone numbers or visit the official Tar Hollow State Park website for details on pricing, availability, and any potential discounts or special offers. State parks often have seasonal rates and may offer reservations, especially during peak camping seasons. It would also be prudent to inquire about any specific regulations or guidelines for campers, as well as the availability of amenities like fire rings or picnic tables at the campsites.
For local users specifically seeking "camping near me" that offers spacious sites and access to hiking within a state park setting, Tar Hollow State Park Logan Hollow Campground presents a compelling option. The availability of electric hookups caters to RV campers, while the large sites can also accommodate tent campers. The presence of decent shower houses is a significant plus for maintaining hygiene during a camping trip. However, potential visitors should be aware of the reported lack of cell service and TV reception, as well as the varying conditions of the bathroom facilities. The initial difficulty in locating hiking trails, although they are well-marked once found, is also a point to consider for those planning to explore the park's natural beauty on foot.
The beauty of the location and the spaciousness of the campsites are strong positives highlighted in the reviews. For those prioritizing a connection with nature and ample space for their camping setup, Logan Hollow Campground appears to deliver. The access to hiking trails within Tar Hollow State Park further enhances its appeal for outdoor enthusiasts. However, the limitations in connectivity and the potential variability in bathroom quality are factors that potential campers should weigh based on their individual needs and preferences for their "camping near me" experience.
In conclusion, Tar Hollow State Park Logan Hollow Campground offers a "camping near me" option in a beautiful natural setting with spacious campsites and access to hiking trails. RV campers will appreciate the electric hookups, and all campers can benefit from the presence of shower houses. However, it's important to be prepared for limited to no cell service and TV reception, and to be aware of the potential for more rustic bathroom facilities in some areas of the campground. For detailed information on pricing, reservations, and any current promotions, local users should contact the campground directly or visit the Tar Hollow State Park website.

Tar Hollow State Park Logan Hollow Campground Reviews
A beautiful place! Main areas were kept very well. Camping sites are VERY roomy - only electric hookup though (RV goers here). Bathrooms around the campsites were outhouse style, so they were overran by bugs (possibly the time of year). There is a nicer facility near the shower house. Finding the hiking trails was frustrating as nothing was visibly marked until you were almost on the trail and maps were hard to reference - once on the trail, they were marked beautifully.
Sep 11, 2019 · Cat RoseLove this campground! There are lots of great campsites and the shower houses are really decent. Be prepared for zero cell service and TV reception.
Sep 06, 2019 · Vic NoëlMy family always has a great time camping at Tar Hollow SP Campground. Sad that we won't be able to camp there in 2025. But am looking forward to all the upgrades and updates they are doing.
Sep 26, 2024 · electa naegeleOkay, it's a lovely park. Clean, well kept, nice facilities but DO NOT camp in their primitive sites 87-95 below the dam. They are right next to the package wastewater treatment plan and although it didn't smell, the aeration unit for the plant was a loud humming machinery noise. You will not hear birds, water or wind for 14 hours of the day, just the loud hum of that plant. Day and night.
Jul 14, 2022 · Jerry McVickerMy family and I stayed here for a week for the fall colors and exploring hocking hills.....They had great Halloween activities and after the weekend, the camp ground cleared out and it was peaceful.Decent hiking trails and about 25 min to hocking hills, bring a local map because service is minimal....Overall great experience!
