Whitefish / Kalispell North KOA Holiday Introduce
For local users and travelers searching within the 'camping near me' category in the vicinity of Whitefish and Kalispell, Montana, the Whitefish / Kalispell North KOA Holiday located at 5121 US-93, Whitefish, MT 59937, offers a range of camping options and amenities. This KOA Holiday campground can be contacted at (406) 862-4242 or +1 406-862-4242. Based on recent customer reviews, the campground presents a mixed experience, with notable advantages such as its proximity to Glacier National Park and helpful service, alongside areas that some guests feel need improvement.
One of the primary features and a significant "pro" highlighted by a reviewer is the campground's advantageous proximity to Glacier National Park. For those planning to visit this iconic natural attraction, staying at Whitefish / Kalispell North KOA Holiday offers a convenient basecamp, reducing travel time to the park's entrances and allowing for more time spent exploring its stunning landscapes. This location is a key selling point for tourists and locals alike looking to experience Glacier National Park.
In terms of services, one reviewer specifically commended the "great" location and service. They recounted an instance where their tow vehicle broke down, and the campground staff assisted in arranging an extra day to accommodate the repair. This indicates a willingness to go above and beyond to help guests in unforeseen circumstances, contributing to a positive customer service experience. Such flexibility and support can be particularly valuable for travelers on extended trips.
Another mentioned service is the availability of bathrooms, which one reviewer noted as a "great" feature. While the cleanliness of these facilities was a point of contention (discussed later), the basic provision of restrooms is an essential amenity for any campground. Additionally, a "free" hot breakfast is offered, which was described as "pretty good" by one guest and "great" by another. This complimentary breakfast can be a significant convenience for campers, saving time and money on morning meals before heading out to explore the area.
However, the reviews also raise several concerns that potential guests should be aware of. One guest pointed out a discrepancy regarding the cost for children, stating that the "free" kids advertised were actually charged $11 per child per day. This unexpected additional fee could impact the overall budget of families traveling with children and suggests a potential issue with transparent pricing or advertising.
The condition and functionality of some of the campground's recreational amenities also drew criticism. The adults-only hot tub was reported as "not in order," which could be disappointing for guests looking forward to relaxing in it after a day of activities. Similarly, the game room was described as "just another way to get you to spend more money there," with several games being "out of order." This suggests that the game room might not offer a great value or reliable entertainment for guests.
Safety concerns were raised regarding the pool, with a reviewer noting that it "does not have the proper lining at the bottom so it is very slippery." They recounted an incident where their child fell while getting into the pool and almost hit their head, highlighting a potentially dangerous situation. This is a significant issue that warrants attention from the campground management to ensure the safety of their guests.
Cleanliness appears to be a point of contention. While one reviewer acknowledged that the "KOA and staff do their best" and that the bathrooms "worked and were cleaned daily," they also noted that "some people just have it out to be...unclean for some reason." This suggests that while the staff may be making efforts to maintain cleanliness, some guests contribute to the problem. However, another reviewer mentioned that the overall KOA "needs a lot of work," including the bathrooms, which lacked a dressing area, making it difficult to keep clothes clean and dry after showering.
A significant environmental issue reported by a guest was a "hornet problem." They claimed that the campground's approach was to sell guests traps rather than handle the issue themselves, making it impossible to sit outside. This suggests a potentially unaddressed pest problem that could severely impact the enjoyment of outdoor spaces at the campground.
In summary, Whitefish / Kalispell North KOA Holiday offers the following features and considerations for those in the 'camping near me' category:
- Prime Location: Excellent proximity to Glacier National Park, a major draw for tourists and local explorers.
- Helpful Service: Staff reported as accommodating and willing to assist guests, even with unexpected issues like vehicle breakdowns.
- Breakfast Included: A "free" hot breakfast is available and generally well-received by guests, although the 8 am start time may not suit early departures for the park.
- Bathrooms Available: Restroom facilities are provided, although cleanliness and the lack of a dressing area in some were noted as concerns.
- Pool On-Site: A pool is available for guest use, but safety concerns regarding a slippery bottom have been raised.
- Game Room: An arcade-style game room is present, but some games may be out of order, and it is an additional expense.
- Adults-Only Hot Tub: This amenity was reported as not being in working order by one guest.
- Potential Extra Fees: Charges for children, despite advertising suggesting they are "free," can add to the cost of a stay.
- Cleanliness Issues: Varying reports on bathroom cleanliness and a lack of dressing areas in some facilities.
- Pest Problem: A reported hornet issue that the campground allegedly leaves for guests to manage.
Promotional information is somewhat limited and mixed based on the reviews. The proximity to Glacier National Park is a significant implicit promotion for those planning to visit the park. The positive remarks about the service and the "free" breakfast could also be seen as promotional aspects. However, the negative feedback regarding extra fees, facility maintenance, cleanliness, and pest issues counterbalance these positives.
Local users considering Whitefish / Kalispell North KOA Holiday for their 'camping near me' needs should weigh the convenience of its location and the reported positive service against the potential drawbacks related to costs, facility conditions, and cleanliness. It would be prudent to contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers to inquire about the current status of the hot tub and pool, their policies regarding children's fees, and how they are addressing the reported hornet problem. Additionally, asking about the specific layout and amenities of the bathrooms might be beneficial for those concerned about the lack of dressing areas.
In conclusion, Whitefish / Kalispell North KOA Holiday offers a strategically advantageous location for exploring Glacier National Park and has received positive feedback regarding its service and breakfast. However, potential guests should be aware of reported issues concerning additional fees for children, the operational status of amenities like the hot tub and game room, safety concerns with the pool, varying levels of cleanliness, and a potential hornet problem. A balanced perspective, considering both the pros and cons highlighted in the reviews, is essential for local users when deciding if this KOA Holiday meets their 'camping near me' requirements.

Whitefish / Kalispell North KOA Holiday Reviews
The "free" kids aren't really free when they charge you $11 per kid per day.The adults only hot tub was not in order. The game room is just another way to get you to spend more money there. Several of them were out of order. The "free" hot breakfast is pretty good. The only downside is that it doesn't open until 8 am. In order to get to Glacier National Park at a reasonable time, you need to leave before 8 am.The pool does not have the proper lining at the bottom so it is very slippery at the bottom. My child fell as he was getting in and almost hit his head on the steps. Very dangerous.Overall this KOA needs a lot of work. The bathrooms have no dressing area so it's hard to keep your clothes clean and dry when you get out of the shower. They also have a hornet problem that they leave up to guests to solve. They sell you traps rather than handle the issue themselves. We could not sit outside at all because of them.Pros - proximity to the park.
Aug 03, 2024 · Juana BrunnerThe location and service are great. We had a tow vehicle break down and they helped arrange an extra day to accommodate the repair. Two thumbs up. They have bathrooms which is great...but the only negative is cleanliness; KOA and staff do their best but some people just have it out to be...unclean for some reason. However, all the bathrooms worked and were cleaned daily so kudos for that. We used them. And the breakfast is great. Thanks.
Jul 11, 2024 · Jack SchneiderThis campground is amazingly concealed just off the highway. It was quiet and well kept. Lots of options for entertainment for the family between pedal carts and pickle ball, a well appointed arcade with games, billiards and ping pong. Nice swimming pool and mini golf course. Located near Whitefish, there's plenty of hiking and water sports in the area. It is also located near the west entrance to Glacier National Park.Staff was friendly and helpful, especially Emily!
Jul 08, 2024 · Mike AustinThe staff at this KOA is incredibly accommodating and made us feel like family! Every detail of our stay was addressed including helping us when we had a broken down vehicle. I cannot say enough positive about our experience! Thank you so much, we will certainly be back
Jun 29, 2024 · Glen SmithThis place was awesome! We booked last minute and had no idea what was coming. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised. So much to do for the family. The bathrooms are clean and lovely, unlike a lot of campgrounds we have visited that have spiders in them and whatnot. The showers were kind of a pain as there was never hot water or pressure, but it wasn’t a deal breaker. The kids loved the arcade but it was sad almost all of the games were unusable. The free breakfast was great and took a ton of stress off figuring out breakfast in the morning. The staff was incredible….very friendly and helpful. My family had a great time and we will be returning next year and recommending it!
