The RV Park at the Pima County Fair Introduce
For those searching for "RV parks near me" in the southern Tucson area, The RV Park at the Pima County Fair, located at 11300 S Houghton Rd, Tucson, AZ 85747, USA, presents itself as a practical and accessible option. Its primary utility lies in its convenience for overnight stays or as a base for events held at the expansive Pima County Fairgrounds. An objective introduction to this park must consider its environment, services, features, and how it aligns with the expectations of various RV travelers.
The environment of The RV Park at the Pima County Fair is characterized by its straightforward, functional design. It is situated "south of Tucson just off of I 10," making it "easy to find" with "pavement all the way" and "adequate signage." This highway proximity is a major advantage for travelers prioritizing ease of access and quick entry/exit. The interior roads are described as "graveled and in good condition," indicating that while not paved, they are well-maintained for RV navigation. Overall, the park's aesthetic is that of "just a gravel parking lot," suggesting a no-frills, utility-focused layout rather than a resort-style experience. There is "Little shade" across the sites, which is a common characteristic of many Arizona RV parks, particularly those designed for short-term use. This environment caters well to those who view an RV park primarily as a place for essential services and a secure overnight stop.
In terms of services and features, the park offers fundamental necessities for RV travel. All sites are equipped with "full utility sites" including "30 amp, water and sewer only." This full hookup capability is a significant benefit for travelers, allowing for efficient preparation of RVs, especially for longer journeys or winter storage. The electrical outlets are "easy to reach." While the sites are described as "simple," "flat," and "gravel," they are also noted as "easy to set sites." Check-in procedures are highlighted as "efficient and friendly," with guests often "escorted to our site," which is a valuable service, particularly for late arrivals or those unfamiliar with the layout. The park also emphasizes "good security," providing peace of mind for guests. In instances of utility issues, staff are noted to address them "immediately," suggesting responsive maintenance.
However, it is crucial to note what services and features are not present or are limited at The RV Park at the Pima County Fair. There is "NO park included wifi or cable TV," and attempts to find "any OTA channels" were unsuccessful. This means travelers relying on connectivity will need to provide their own solutions, though "Satellite would not be difficult." Furthermore, sites lack picnic tables or fire pits, which are common amenities in more leisure-oriented RV parks. The "distancing is poor for a rural park," with sites potentially being "slide to awning and tail to tail" when busy. This indicates a higher density layout that prioritizes maximizing capacity over individual space or privacy. There are also "no restaurants or stores within easy walking distance," necessitating a "short drive away" for "food, shopping and convenience stores."
For those searching under "RV parks near me," the park's primary appeal and promotional message revolve around its practical advantages. It serves as an excellent "overnighter" or a convenient base for attending events at the Pima County Fairgrounds. The "easy highway access" is a significant selling point for travelers on the go. The park's affordability, with a reported rate of "$40.50 per night," is considered "fair value" given the full utility hookups and ease of access. The consistent praise for "Nice people working there" and the "friendly" check-in process also contribute positively to its appeal, highlighting a welcoming human element despite the basic physical amenities. The park's ability to quickly resolve utility issues, as noted by a reviewer, adds another layer of reliability. While it may not offer a resort experience, it fulfills its niche as a functional, well-located, and relatively affordable option for specific travel needs. The phone numbers, (520) 762-8579 and +1 520-762-8579, are available for inquiries about rates, availability, and specific event-related accommodations.
In summary, The RV Park at the Pima County Fair is a highly functional RV park designed for efficiency and convenience in the Tucson, AZ area. Its environment is a straightforward, well-maintained gravel lot offering easy access from I-10. Services include reliable full utility hookups, efficient and friendly check-in, and good security. Features are basic, lacking amenities like Wi-Fi, cable TV, picnic tables, or ample spacing between sites. However, for those seeking an "okay overnighter" or a practical base for events at the Pima County Fairgrounds, its value for money and strategic location make it a viable choice within the "RV parks near me" category. It reliably serves its purpose, providing a clean, safe, and easily accessible spot for RVs, particularly for transient visitors or those attending local events.

The RV Park at the Pima County Fair Reviews
The park was easy to find. It is located south of Tucson just off of I 10. There is pavement all the way. Signage is adequate. Check in was efficient and friendly and we were escorted to our site.. The rules are fairly basic. The interior roads are graveled and in good conditionOur site, 162, was a back in that was just long enough for our Coach with our towed beside. Services (30 amp, water and sewer only) were to the left side. Distancing is poor for a rural park. Had it been busy we would have been slide to awning and tail to tail. There was NO table or fire pit. Our site was flat and even. Overall the park was just a gravel parking lot but it fit our needs for an overnight space. There is NO park included wifi or cable TV. We did not find any OTA channels. Satellite would not be difficult. There are no restaurants or stores within easy walking distance but just a short drive away you can find food, shopping and convenience stores. We found this park to be an okay overnighter. We paid $40.50 per night and we feel we received fair value. We will be back if in the area again.
Mar 04, 2025 · Darrell & Jeredene OllenbergerWe had such a good time there. They had some problems with Electric and water at times but cleared it up immediately. Nice simple sites. Little shade. Clean and good security. Easy to set sites. Flat, gravel, easy to reach outlets. Nice people working there.
Mar 24, 2025 · NLD TexasThis year's Thurber Hall was a little skimpy in new or interesting things. They really didn't need two aggressive Verizon people, scooter vendors or the same imported stuff we see at the gem show.Pima & Pueblo Halls didn't disappoint.A shout out to Haury's locally made BBQ sauce for winning 1st & second place.BTW you can find this delicious BBQ sauce at Rustic Roots Farmers Market 9848 E Old Vail Rd in Tucson.
Apr 25, 2025 · Teresa MarrufoThey only had 50 amp service available when we got to the RV campground at Pima County Fair Grounds, they did offer to sell us a 30 amp converter but we choose to dry camp for $30 in a dirt lot that was very dusty. The only saving grace is that on our evening walk around we got to enjoy a couple of beautiful owls.
Feb 25, 2024 · Cecilia SwetlandThis is a nice place to stay especially if you find it difficult to get a reservation in southern AZ in the winter. They have daily and weekly rates and have Good Sam and Escapees discounts. We paid $30/ night for full hookups with our Escapees discount. The Fairgrounds does not take reservations, although there are events that may limit camping options. Call ahead to be sure they can accomodate you. There's not much atmosphere in the actual camping areas, which is mostly gravel, but there are some really nice areas with grass and trees spread throughtout the grounds. The fairgrounds are pretty extensive and there is a nice exercise trail, with signs identifying the local flora, that goes around part of the perimeter. They have also added a paved trail that parallels the entrance road. There are two laundry facilities with a total of five washers and eight driers. Each machine is $1.50, which is pretty reasonable for laundry. You just need to time your washing around others. There is a cantina, which is only open for special occasions, when they may also have additional food trucks. Don't expect these amenities all the time, but it's fun when a special event brings them in. In addition to having lots of walking space, there are bike trails easily accessible. The office has a map of them available. It's reasonably close to Saguaro National Park on the east side and shopping is close across the interstate. We've stayed here three times and would stay again.
